The property

Delectably inviting and within paces of sandy Portreath Beach and the north Atlantic coastline sits Fairsands Cottage.

Snuggled amongst an attractive terrace of characterful homestays at the foot of the cliff, this delightfully presented retreat makes a superb spot for traditional by-the-beach holidays for family, friends and couples.

You can walk to everything; Portreath has shops for provisions, cafes, a deli, coffee hideouts and inns.

This little resort has a chirpy vibe and the pretty beach with diminutive quay is a popular spot, with a stream running down the sands and white water for surfers and bodyboarders.

Excellent walking is a given from coastpaths framing the most spectacular views.

Ramble the five miles (there and back) southbound to Bassets Cove or head north to Porthtowan, a four mile walk promising a wealth of wild flowers and seabirds.

Once there, a bite to eat or drink is a must in the Blue Bar café and restaurant, tucked aside the dunes with big ocean views.

The beautiful country park at Tehidy offer miles of nature trails and cycle/bridle paths to explore, reached within a mile and a half of Fairsands.

The north Atlantic coastline has so much to offer, with St Agnes and Trevaunance Cove, Perranporth, Newquay and Watergate Bay reached easily by car.

Head to the far west to Land's End, stopping at St Ives for a wander through the cobbled streets packed with boutiques, art galleries, gift shops and eateries for all tastebuds; fish and chips, seafood, pasties and ice-cream, pub grub and restaurants by the bucket load.

Don't forget the four beautiful beaches here and dinky harbour.

Fairsands Cottage offers comfy accommodation; get cosy in the sitting room with snuggly sofas.

There is a separate dining room for social gatherings and kitchen leading through to the sun room.

The enclosed private garden at the front of the cottage is a pretty sun-spot with decked area for blue-sky nibbles and tipples.

With two well presented bedrooms and a family bathroom, this cheery holiday homestay makes an obvious choice for a guaranteed good time, and many a return stay!

About the location

Truro 14 miles; St Ives 15 miles.

With its sheltered harbour, beautiful Portreath was, in the 1800s, a hive of activity and industry as a major tin-exporting port. Today, the village attracts visitors from around the world with its wild and rugged coastline. High cliffs, secluded coves and sandy, surf-washed beaches typify the area while all around are reminders of the area's rich industrial heritage. Portreath offers a small fishing harbour, shops, a number of pubs, three cafés and a Chinese restaurant, while its safe, sheltered sandy beach is a popular attraction. For a great day out, visit the cathedral city of Truro with its cobbled streets, shopping centre, theatre, museum and great restaurants, just 14 miles away, or travel a few miles along the coast and follow the vast expanse of sandy beach, which leads down to Hayle and on to St Ives. A delightful holiday location.
