  • “Great location.”

Very well equipped. Larger back garden than expected.

Very well equipped. Larger back garden than expected. Great to go over the other side and go watch the waves and the surfers from the watch tower.

The property

A grand stand position beside the harbour and only a couple of minutes level walk from the sandy beach at Portreath, Quayside Cottage is the perfect venue for a traditional holiday beside the sea.

Located midway between St Ives and St Agnes on Cornwall's dramatic north coast, the seaside resort of Portreath is a natural playground.

You will love the convenience of Quayside Cottage as you drift to sleep listening to the lap of the sea and wake to uninterrupted views of the harbour and colourful fishing boats at dock. Within a few minutes walk is a beautiful beach which is life-guard patrolled during the main season.

You can swim in turquoise waters, book a surf lesson at the local surf school, explore fascinating rock pools or hunt for crabs in the harbour at low tide.

Also excellent for walkers, you can head straight from the front door along the south west coast path for tall granite cliffs and stunning views.

You might even catch a glimpse of a seal, dolphin or basking shark.

For a complete contrast in landscape, venture inland to Tehidy Country Park which has acres of woodlands, lakes and a golf course or hire a bike and explore the coast to coast mining trail from Portreath to Devoran on Cornwall's south coast. Return from coastal escapades to newly updated Quayside Cottage and relaxed coastal style accommodation.

Enter from the waterfront terrace into a modern and spacious open plan living room with a cosy wood burner, wooden flooring and plump settees.

Designed with families in mind, there are three well appointed bedrooms and a family bathroom on the first floor, a separate shower room on the ground floor and DVD's, books and games for adults and children.

Patio doors in the sun-room room lead to a private, sheltered and enclosed courtyard with garden furniture and barbecue for outdoor living.

There are pubs, restaurants and shops within paces and visitor hotspots at St Ives, St Agnes, Padstow and Land's End are within easy reach.

About the location

Truro 14 miles; St Ives 15 miles.

With its sheltered harbour, beautiful Portreath was, in the 1800s, a hive of activity and industry as a major tin-exporting port. Today, the village attracts visitors from around the world with its wild and rugged coastline. High cliffs, secluded coves and sandy, surf-washed beaches typify the area while all around are reminders of the area's rich industrial heritage. Portreath offers a small fishing harbour, shops, a number of pubs, three cafés and a Chinese restaurant, while its safe, sheltered sandy beach is a popular attraction. For a great day out, visit the cathedral city of Truro with its cobbled streets, shopping centre, theatre, museum and great restaurants, just 14 miles away, or travel a few miles along the coast and follow the vast expanse of sandy beach, which leads down to Hayle and on to St Ives. A delightful holiday location.
