Catherine “Extremely helpful, thoughtful and kind owner.”
Beautiful setting. Lovely Cornish weather. What more could you want
- Catherine, September 2021Mark “Great location for the attractions and beaches of the south.”
We had to ask the owner direct if she had a bbq (she did). Perhaps amend the listing to reflect this. Lovely place.
- Mark, July 2021Christopher “Rachel, the owner is a perfectionist.”
She really wants to make her guests comfortable and welcome. The cottage and facilities were spotless. Linen was great and Rachel's extra touches like the welcome pack were excellent. The cottage is a safe quiet base to explore the best of Cornwall. The gardens are perfect.
- Christopher, June 2021Elaine “It would be helpful to note that the cottage has a sign reading “The Cottage” not Medlar Cottage.”
This is a bit misleading when looking for the location (which is not obvious) on arrival after a long journey. Other than that the cottage was wonderful and the garden delightful. Rachel, the owner was a lovely person and very welcoming.
- Elaine, June 2021Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback and we are delighted to hear you enjoyed the warm welcome at Medlar Cottage. We have amended the direction details to make it clear that the property has a sign saying 'The Cottage' which is decorated with medlar fruit. Property Owner
Aluson “Really beautiful cottage set in a gorgeous garden!”
The cottage is 5 minutes drive from portreath beach (which is stunning) and is a great base to explore south Cornwall - we went to St. Michaels mount, The Lizard, Perrenporth, St. Ives and Truro. Rachel (the owner) and her daughter made us feel so welcome abs were in hand if we ever needed anything. We had such a lovely time and would certainly recommend this place for a stay
- Aluson, May 2021Natasha “The cottage owner was exceptionally helpful and put herself out with advice with places to go, eat etc”
- Natasha, August 2020Ann “Had a lovely restful holiday in the cottage Rachel the owner was very helpful and her little girl Holly was delightful .”
Holiday went far too fast will go back next year xx
- Ann, July 2020David “Our family had a wonderful holiday at this fabulous cottage.”
The host made us feel welcome and provided a host of information to assist with the holiday experience. The children loved playing in the garden/orchard. The cottage is ideally located close to main access roads as well as variety of beautiful beaches. Would highly recommend.

About the location
PORTREATH
Truro 14 miles; St Ives 15 miles.
With its sheltered harbour, beautiful Portreath was, in the 1800s, a hive of activity and industry as a major tin-exporting port. Today, the village attracts visitors from around the world with its wild and rugged coastline. High cliffs, secluded coves and sandy, surf-washed beaches typify the area while all around are reminders of the area's rich industrial heritage. Portreath offers a small fishing harbour, shops, a number of pubs, three cafés and a Chinese restaurant, while its safe, sheltered sandy beach is a popular attraction. For a great day out, visit the cathedral city of Truro with its cobbled streets, shopping centre, theatre, museum and great restaurants, just 14 miles away, or travel a few miles along the coast and follow the vast expanse of sandy beach, which leads down to Hayle and on to St Ives. A delightful holiday location.
