The property

Just two miles from the south Cornish coast, Hill View sits on the edge of the pretty village of St Hilary. The immediate surroundings are peaceful and rural yet the sandy beaches at Perranuthnoe, Marazion and Praa Sands are within minutes by car. Walkers will love to explore the local area with a myriad of footpaths linking the nearby Godolphin and Tregonning Hills with National Trust land and coastal trails. There are good local pubs within one mile as well as a convenience store and farm shop in nearby Goldsithney. Nearby Perranuthnoe is a locals' favourite with a small sandy beach, craft gallery and two good cafes for decadent cream teas. From here you can join the South West Coastal Path and a relatively easy walk will bring you into Marazion with the iconic St Michaels Mount forming a memorable backdrop. This ancient town has a good choice of shops, galleries, cafes and pubs and calling the local taxi firm based in St Hilary will mean you don't have to walk home as well. Just six miles west of St Hilary is Penzance; considered as the capital of West Cornwall, the harbour town has an abundance of individual shops and art galleries. Holiday haven St Ives is also easily accessible and we recommend travelling by train from Penzance along what is arguably one of the most scenic routes in the country.

Adjacent to the owners' accommodation and spic and span throughout, Hill View is a cosy and comfortable base to return to after a day of exploring. The sitting/dining room has a lovely rural view towards Godolphin Hill and the kitchen is spacious and well equipped. The two bright and colourful double bedrooms share the bathroom. Level access leads outside to a sheltered private patio area and a small lawn.

About the location

Marazion 4.5 miles ; Helston 6 miles ; Porthleven 5 miles

The village of Praa Sands sits on the south coast in between Helston and Marazion. Praa Sands is known for its mile-long sandy beach and excellent surfing conditions. There is a bar/restaurant overlooking the beach – the perfect spot for lunch with a view or sunset drinks – a Post Office and general stores, beach cafe with fish & chips, and a beach/surf shop stocked with everything you could need for a great day at the beach. Praa Sands is also home to a Golf and Country Club, from where the most wonderful sea vista can be enjoyed whilst you play. Just inland from the beach is Pengersick Castle, the tower of which dates back to the 16th century. It is said that Pengersick is haunted, and that the ghost of a monk has been seen wandering the grounds! The house at Pengersick is rumoured to be the birth place of John Carter, the self styled King of Prussia and a tunnel which leads from the house to the beach was apparently once used by smugglers.

Note: Regretfully no children under the age of twelve years.
