Sean “Very friendly & welcoming host.”
Cosy & immaculate property, with the bonus of translation in the garden. Only improvement would be WIFI in cottage. Thankyou we had a fantastic raxing break.
- Sean, October 2021 -
Susan “Good position for exploring the local areas.”
Handy single track rail service stop near bottom of the garden.
- Susan, August 2021Stella “Lovely cottage, very comfortable and well equipped.”
The kitchen was big with plenty of cupboard space, the lounge cosy and a nice bedroom. A bonus was the train ‘halt’ at the bottom of the garden on the Liskeard to Looe line. The station is a request stop with trains every couple of hours. Very useful for us as we were walking on the SW coast path. We were able to go to Plymouth and Looe by train; changing at Liskeard enabled onward travel to many local towns. Very happy to recommend this property.
- Stella, August 2021Thomas “Me and my husband stayed here for a week and we had a lovely time.”
The owner was very friendly and provided us with a pint of milk and a bottle of wine on arrival which was a nice touch. The location is fantastic with the Looe line railway station literally at the end of the garden. There isn’t wifi in the lodge but you can get it in the garden, however not having wifi in the lodge wasn’t an issue for us. The lodge itself was clean and had all the facilities you could need and more! The yard was perfect for sitting outside on an evening and having a bbq which was provided by the owner. All in all we had a great stay, we would 100% recommend the lodge to anyone and we will be booking again.
- Thomas, July 2021Nikki “Lovely quaint little cottage in a very quiet area.”
It has everything that you would need, including a washing machine, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. There wasn’t a BBQ as advertised but this wasn’t an issue for us.
- Nikki, June 2021Ira “Millers Cottage is remote and difficult to drive in and out of the area.”
There is no wifi or mobile phone signal in the cottage, you can pick up a, weak, signal if you go outside to the railway halt about 50m away, however, this is not secure and many websites won’t give full access. The area by the cottage door is overgrown and unattended. The area outside of the dining area window is disgraceful, it needs totally clearing. The patio with a table and two chairs and some neglected pot plants needs a good cleaning. The outside of the windows needed cleaning, the kitchen worktops were mostly “sticky” although chopping boards were good and it was well equipped. The bed and bathroom was good, although the floor is incredibly creaky and noisy. It’s not a property we would return to but some people may like the remoteness.
- Ira, May 2021I am terribly sorry to learn that you have not enjoyed your stay with us. I am somewhat perplexed by some of your comments referring the signal in the area as this has not been an issue for previous guests, perhaps it may a service provider fault? We do not advertise that the property specifically has WiFi but you can connect to the local hotspot close by. Please be assured all areas of the the rental are maintained thoroughly, apologies about the little overgrowth, this will be tended to as my strimmer was out of use recently. In terms of your comments about the flooring, the property is relatively old, the floor may creek due to it's age. Rest assured, the property is very close-by to the railway station and roughly 1 mile from a B road connecting to the Liskeard Town centre. Thank you very much for your comments and for taking the time to let us know your thoughts. Customer feedback is very important to help us continually improve our standards. Property Owner
Nick “Enjoyed every minute of our first visit to Cornwall.”
Miller's Lodge is a perfect base from which to explore the many villages and towns in the area. The cottage is so peaceful, comfortable and well equipped for everyone. We actually loved the creaky floors which just add character to this lovely conversion. Paul (the owner) is a lovely character, full of information about the area and a spinner of Cornish yarns. A train station at the bottom of your garden if you want to travel into Looe, loads of walks on your doorstep and only a ten minute drive into Liskeard for local amenities. So glad we booked this cottage and I would revisit if ever in this part of the country again.
- Nick, April 2021Sophie “Had a lovely weeks stay at Miller’s Lodge.”
Paul was very friendly and helpful with everything we needed, especially as we went into lockdown whilst we were staying there. We were delighted to find out we were right at one of the stops for the scenic railway into Looe. The house itself was excellent, extremely clean and very well equipped with everything we needed. It was very peaceful! My only suggestion would be if you are returning home in the evenings make sure you have a torch.
- Sophie, October 2020Jacqueline “The cottage is lovely and very well equipped.”
It is very peaceful, you hardly notice the trains. Great base from which to explore Cornwall.
- Jacqueline, October 2020Simon “The cottage was located within lovely surroundings and next to the Liskard to Looe valley rail line.”
The cottage is a little remote and a vehicle is required, to visit the adjacent villages or towns. The train is hourly and at very little cost. The owners of the cottage were extremely helpful.
- Simon, August 2020Dawn “The cottage was fully equipped, situated in a very quiet area which was lovely.”
The owner was nearby who was very informative and chatty. Ideal position to visit Fowey, Polperro and Looe amongst other places. We used the train to go to Looe, platform is a request stop 2 minutes walk from the cottage costing £3.20 return. Overall we had a lovely stay at Miller's Lodge.
- Dawn, September 2019Chris “Very nice, great facilities and clean.”
Friendly and helpful owner. Highly recommended.
- Chris, August 2019April “Great little cottage in a great location.”
The train station is a one minute walk and the trains to Looe very reasonably priced and run quite frequently. Well equipped kitchen. TV, DVD, all the things you need. No wifi but you can usually get it on the train platform (bit hit and miss though). A previous review said parking only for a small to medium car - we ignored this and managed to fit a mondeo estate in (huge car) though it was tight. Cornish roads are pretty tiny so we are quite used to it. The cottage is not near anything apart from the train station - no shops, pubs, etc - you need to drive or get the train to these. We took our 1 year old. It was very hard containing him in this property (our choice, not a fault of the place) and I would suggest it is really not very suitable for any children. Again, the listing does say babes in arms only. The main issue we had apart from the one year old terror was that the floor boards are EXCEPTIONALLY noisy - so you basically can't walk upstairs or use the bathroom without making a LOT of noise. This woke our sleeping baby up every time. A lot of these types of properties are noisy but this is extremely loud. Fine for couples going to bed at the same time but may be a consideration for anyone who has a baby that actually goes to bed before 11pm.
- April, July 2019John “There is a very good (and on time) train service from the bottom of the garden called "wishing well halt" This goes from Liskeard to Looe and on a regular basis The fares are reasonable and if you are fortunate to have a bus pass you can use it locally.”
- John, June 2019Jacky “Customers to be aware that the parking space is suitable for a small/medium car.”
The outside space would be enhanced by more maintenance and some pots/flowers.
- Jacky, May 2019Thank you for your comments. The property is suitable for any size car. Thank you for your feedback. We hope to welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

- Sheila, September 2018Carole “Beautiful setting, a perfect hideaway to escape to.”
Fresh linen, soft, fluffy towels and thoughtful extras such as milk, tea and coffee ready for our arrival as well as a couple of bottles of local cider, which was very much appreciated. Lovely conversations with the owner who has so much local information, and a very interesting man to talk to. Highly recommended.
- Carole, June 2018Sheridan “Lovely little cottage, has everything you need.”
The roads leading to the cottage are very narrow causing some dificulty when oncoming traffic is around. Ideal with having the train stop at the bottom of the garden, we made use of this several times. Helpful owners on site also.

The owners of the Lodge were lovely and very helpful. I would recommend this holiday to friends and family for a peaceful getaway.

Good access to Looe railway if you do not want to drive. Cottage is in very good condition and the owner made us feel very welcome.

This one of our most relaxing holidays, not just the quite and peaceful location, but not having to worry about parking when you went out or getting stuck in traffic.
- Pamela, January 2012Blair “A really comfortable and well appointed cottage for two.”
A very quiet country location reached by some typically narrow Cornish roads, but this did not present any problems. The location is close to Liskeard which has reasonable amenities including a decent supermarket and a main line railway station. The cottage is also close to a halt on the Looe - Liskeard branch and with a bit of planning this is very useful for day trips to various places in the area including Plymouth, Penzance and Newquay. We would certainly consider renting this cottage again.
- Blair, November 2011Christine “Very relaxing and clean.”
All furnishings are very modern. It was a really nice place to come back to after a day out in the lovely sea air. We would definitely come back. Already looking to book for next year. We were made to feel very welcome by the owners.
