“Cornwall is mine and my husbands favourite place, as this is where we went on our first holiday together over 15 years ago!”

    ! ...

! The cottage once again (we have stayed before) was perfect, clean and tidy with everything you could wish for. Even in this times with Covid19 Claire and Rob were great and made us feel welcome with a cream tea on arrival and a pint of milk in the fridge for an all important cup of Cornish Tea. We generally visit Cornwall once a year, and booked Ruan Barn whilst we were on holiday last time, I’m sad to see we are unable to book for next year as dates are either not yet available or have been booked already. Thank you once again to Claire and Rob for allowing us to change dates and getting us in a little earlier!!

The property

This exquisite converted barn sits within five miles of stunning beaches and fishing villages on the north Cornish coast, amidst a picturesque landscape with superb country views.

Beautifully renovated, Ruan Barn's interior is a fusion of modern minimalist meets relaxed elegance with charismatic beams and a wood burner for cosy comfort, offering tip-top accommodation packed with style and character.

Wrapped in a big garden with balcony, generous patio for blue-sky dining and a meadow of green for children to play safely - it makes the ideal rural retreat within a short drive of the ocean.

Ruan Barn is within a 15 minute drive of beautiful beaches and resorts.

The quintessentially Cornish fishing village of Port Isaac is a stunner with enigmatic harbour, galleries, traditional inns and celebrity chef Nathan Outlaw's 'Fish Kitchen', plus other eateries, pasty parlours and tea rooms.

Wander past TV 'Doc Martin's house as you ramble the South West Coast Path, promising far reaching sea vistas.

The very chic resort of Rock with big sandy beach is a favoured destination.

A quick scoot across the Camel Estuary on the passenger ferry to Padstow provides the perfect opportunity to visit one of Rick Stein's restaurants or indulge in some retail therapy around the quay.

Polzeath is 20 minutes away with a good surfing beach and seasonal lifeguards to keep watch, plus cafes, pubs and restaurants to tantalise all taste-buds.

For drier pursuits hire cycles and explore the Camel Trail by peddle-power. Ruan Barn nestles in the hamlet of Treburgett, in a tranquil countryside setting in the grounds of the owner's home and neighboring dairy farm.

The semi detached accommodation is beautifully presented and spacious with a light and bright open-plan living room, dining area and very smart kitchen with all the mod cons, featuring big windows, oak engineered floors and ceiling beams.

The lower ground floor is host to two stylish bedrooms, a pristine bathroom, with bath and shower and additional separate WC.

The pretty garden is fabulous for kicking back and relaxing whilst the children play on the meadow, all set against the most glorious country backdrop.

About the location

Lostwithiel 6 miles; St. Austell 13 miles; Padstow 16 miles; Newquay 21 miles.

Bodmin, the one-time County Town of Cornwall with its narrow streets, shops and pubs, is perfectly placed for exploring all that this fabulous holiday area has to offer. The outstanding surf, rugged cliffs and hidden coves of the north coast beaches and the quieter sands and river estuaries of the south coast are both 15 miles away while on the edge of town is the fascinating museum and haunting presence of the old Bodmin Jail. The popular Camel Trail for cyclists and walkers also winds its way through the town on its journey to the sea at Padstow. Close by are the open spaces and wind swept grandeur of Bodmin Moor while the incomparable Eden Project (11 miles), Falmouth’s National Maritime Museum (30 miles) and the beautiful harbour town of Padstow with its famous pubs and restaurants (16 miles) make for great days out. Also within easy reach and ideal for a fun-filled day out, guests can visit Lanhydrock House, the small town of Fowey and Charlestown with its Tall Ships, The Eden Project and Lostwithiel.
