Emma “The property is great due to the size and the dinning room, conservatory and gardens are a great space for a large group.”
However there are some things that really let the property down. We fully appreciate that it’s a converted barn and so spiders etc are enviable but the conservatory roof had not been dusted for webs in a very long time. Furniture had clearly not been moved and cleaned under either. One bedroom had mud (we hope) up the walls which should have been wiped off by the cleaners. We found dead worms in our bedroom and rubbish under the bed. One room had lots of insect traps which was a little unpleasant. Rats are clearly an issue (which again is not surprising as it’s a farm with vineyards - lots of traps present around the property) but there is only one very small bin to use for 22 people and not enough bin bags are provided. There are no recycling facilities and no guidance on what to do with recycling or rubbish. This adds to the issue re rats as the store outside has been used for rubbish and was full on our arrival so we had to keep the bins in the house. The fridge freezer is not sufficient for 22 people saying for a long period. There were not enough glasses or mugs for everyone either. That said there were plenty of wine glasses. The towels and bedlinen were nice and clean and plenty of tea towels provided but no hand towels in the toilets which is odd. The showers are mixed - some are lovely and powerful whilst others are nothing more than a dribble. It was a lovely gesture to leave Healeys apple juice, cider and preserve given that it’s owed by then as well as a voucher for free entry to the cider farm but unfortunately this was dated to expire the day we checked in. Again the provision of bbqs is a lovely touch but they aren’t very good to cook on. Thankfully we came with our own bbqs. A few simple tweaks would make this property truly wonderful. Lastly - our experience with Sykes was appalling. We contacted the company at the beginning of June prior to our stay and check in date of 20 June. We heard nothing from them until the day before check in and following a complaint. We tried calling, emailing, messaging via the app and using the what’s app service and no one responded to us until we made a complaint. That made the experience far more stressful than it should have been. I would not book through Sykes again.

About the location
TRESILLIAN
Truro 3 miles; Tregony 4.3 miles; Portloe 8.3 miles, Perranport, 12 miles, Falmouth 14 miles
This small creekside village is nestled in mid Cornwall, three miles east of Truro. The meaning of the village translates to "a place of eels" in the Cornish language, according to a 19th century writer. However since then it has been translated to "farm/settlement of a man called Sulyen". Within the village is a small number of older buildings including a Grade II listed thatched Inn. Set in the Cornish countryside, Tresillian retains a largely rural character, with the advantage of not being too far away from Cornwall's capital. There is a mixture of pastoral and arable farming in the surrounding area and one of the prettiest riverside walks in Cornwall can be accessed from the western end of the village. Truro offers a good range of independent shops as well as art galleries, bars, restaurants, a cinema and a theatre. The architecture will intrigue those who visit along with plenty of things to do and see. Just meandering through the Georgian cobbled streets is a pleasure in itself. Day trips can be had to Falmouth, along the stunning Fal estuary, where its natural harbour and beaches will keep you occupied for hours. Across from Falmouth harbour is the beautiful town of St Mawes, surrounded by rocky coves and lush green countryside of the Roseland Peninsula. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty will inspire those looking for awe and wonder, with a vast region of fabulous walking, delightful creeks and tranquil beaches. A fabulous area you will want to return to!
