Andrew “Description is misleading.”
The cottage porch is circa 7 meters from very busy main road. Noisy traffic all night long is not relaxing. The coasters (tea and plates) were dirty on arrival. The cottage stunk of dogs as did the hoover when hoovering. Only 2 matches for for fire on arrival. The mop was dirty and we purchased a clean one as the floors were sticky. The layout was good and plenty of space, close to the beaches etc. would not stay again due to heavy noise and smell of dogs.

- Andrew, December 2021Thank you for your feedback. The description does state that the property is set back from a busy main road. Had you let us know of any issues, such as cleanliness, during your stay, we would have been able assist you. Property Owner

Susan “This cottage was brilliant for our family unit.”
It included my husband and I our daughter and two grandsons aged 14 and 16 years old. we also had our two golden retrievers with us. We will hopefully be visiting again later this year.
- Susan, December 2021Natalie “Absolutely loved this cottage.”
It was spotless and had everything needed for a home from home. My dog loved the enclosed garden as did we along with the conservatory with the glass roof for aircraft viewing! Perfectly placed for exploring Cornwall too. We will be back!
- Natalie, October 2021Paul “We have now stayed here twice in the last 6 weeks and have found this to be a comfortable well located property.”
Despite having been refurbished in 2019, the cottage is now beginning to show signs of damp, particularly in the lounge. The smell that comes with this makes it hard to spend any amount of time in the lounge without some form of air freshener. This is a lovely cottage however unless the damp is dealt with this will result in further deteriation to the property. My only real criticism is the standard of cleaning. I have no doubt the air ambulance have to pay for the cottage to be cleaned but it does appear this isn't being done very well. There are a large number of cobwebs in the kitchen some of which have dead flies in them. The skirting boards clearly haven't been cleaned /wiped recently evidenced from the dust. Small details that could make a big change are fixing the lamp in the lounge; this hasn't worked either time we've stayed at the property. Further to this, no additional hand towels are given therefore you have to remove hand towels allocated per person to ensure hand towels are in the bathrooms. Other than these small changes, the property on the whole is very nice. We have easily accomodated six of us (and a dog) for a week. The beds are especially comfortable and the bedding is fantastic. The location of the property is brilliant, allowing us to reach Fistral beach in 15 minutes. If small changes are made to improve the property, we would happily stay here again.
- Paul, October 2021Thank you for your feedback, we are really sorry to hear about the issues you found during your stay we would like to reassure future guests that all points are taken on board and will be addressed accordingly. Property Owner
Lorraine “We have stayed before and it was great but this time the cleaning left a lot to be desired with cobwebs and dead flies.”
The airing cupboard which houses the boiler was locked so we were unable to put the heating on initially, then we had water leaking into the conservatory which saturated the rug. We hung it over an airer to dry and cleaned up but it took 3 phone calls before anyone came to remove the rug and give us access to the boiler, apparently a key should have been left but it wasn't. The owners acted as soon as they found out but your company's response was sadly lacking. The big grey sofa needs to be replaced and the cottage felt damp without being able to out the heating on. I shouldn't have had to phone 3 times to get action. We will not be returning.
- Lorraine, September 2021Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry to hear about the issues you had during your stay. I can see as soon as contact was made with out customer service team we began the process of securing someone to visit the property to help rectify these points. We take all comments onboard and will look into all points raised. Property Owner

- Michael, June 2021Zoie “This property is beautifully furnished and very comfortable.”
It has all the amenities that you could ever need on a holiday and plenty of space. Knowing that some of the proceeds go towards the air ambulance make this property even more special.
- Zoie, May 2021Andrew “Omg where to start, we walked into the cottage and just wow, the kitchen is amazing, lots of amazing crockery and cutlery, great fridge and also a washing machine and drier, lovely little gift of tea, coffee, milk and cream tea, lovely sunny conservatory which we used a lot, bedrooms were very spacious and bedding was so lovely, living room is massive with comfy sofas and a lovely log burner, the whole cottage was extremely clean and covered under covid, everything was catered for and I will hopefully return very soon.”
- Andrew, May 2021Karen “We had a perfect week here and would highly recommend the cottage to anyone.”
On arrival place was spotlessly clean and for the first time we didn’t have to spend hours cleaning. Well equipped kitchen with lovely quality kitchen/dinning ware. We just loved it here and actually looked to book a 2nd week few days before we left , but sadly not available but thinking about Christmas week ! Most definitely book again .Thank you
- Karen, April 2021Stuart “Heliview cottage is in a great location to lots of beaches in North Cornwall.”
Cottage was very clean and furnished to a high standard. Kitchen is well equipped, would highly recommend especially if you are an aviation enthusiast.
- Stuart, April 2021Rob “Fantastic base for our holiday.”
The house looked like it had been recently done up and was particularly comfortable especially the beds so we came home feeling well rested. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could need. We wondered if the location on the air ambulance site would make it noisy but it wasn’t. We’d highly recommend as a place to stay and explore this part of cornwall. We will be back at Heliview!
- Rob, October 2020Lorraine “Beautiful cottage very clean and comfortable.”
We were disappointed they the hot tub had been removed but that's understandable during the current climate. Great location for visiting various places. The kitchen was very well equipped. The only issue we had was using the hob. The beds were extremely comfortable and it was a great place to come back to after a day exploring. We all agreed we would return.
- Lorraine, October 2020Sharron “This defo the one of the best cottages we stayed in brilliant our grandson loved ...”
This defo the one of the best cottages we stayed in brilliant our grandson loved the helicopters great and one of the best weeks we had
- Sharron, September 2020Julie “The cottage is great - everything is very new and it was very clean.”
The linen and towels are of good quality. There is plenty of space. The main road is busy which should be noted. It may be important for some guests. There was a slug in the sitting room when we arrived - we took it out of course but it has left some trails - you might want to clean the carpet again - we did clean the worst parts . Also please put a note to guests to clean the dishwasher filter if they use it and empty the dryer water tank before they leave . Didn’t find a visitors book to note these comments in - perhaps it had been removed for COVID ?
- Julie, August 2020Briony “Cottage was spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable, had everything you could need.”
Loved the log fire and hot tub after a day exploring beautiful Cornwall. Thank you we loved our stay.
- Briony, March 2020Kevin “Thoroughly enjoyed a week here in late Jan/ early Feb.”
Everything you needed was there from crockery, cutlery to books on the shelf, cd's and games in the cupboards. The hot tub was lovely and hot. The people at the air ambulance were lovely and helpful as when we arrived there was no wifi, but immediately they checked and rectified the problem. Kitchen was great, conservatory lovely and quiet to just chill out. Cleanliness was for us 100%, but some people will find something wrong or dirty with every house, except their own.lol. My only complaint, not even a complaint, more a recommendation, is that, for someone like myself suffering lower back pain, the two settee's in the living room were too low and uncomfortable, and hard to get up out of. Having to sit on one of the kitchen chairs to watch tv. Loved my break..
- Kevin, January 2020Guy “Excellent holiday cottage plenty of space will definitely return, may be for a summer holiday next.”
- Guy, December 2019Rosemary “Wonderful week spent at Heliview Cottage.”
It was well stocked and spotlessly clean. Everything was very homely and comfortable. The location is perfect for visiting nearby sandy beaches at Porth beach, Watergate Bay (excellent spa and dining), and many other local attractions such as Lapa valley which is wonderful for younsters. The staff at the Cornwall Air Ambulance across the drive were very friendly and welcoming and we visited several times when they were not out on urgent calls. Don't forget your photographic ID when visiting as it is a necessity for security reasons. . Plenty of parking and the hot tub was a welcome treat in the evenings. We have booked again for next year. A real treat for aviation enthusiasts as you can also see Newquay airport runway from the windows on the upper floors in addition to the air ambulance base.
- Rosemary, September 2019Debbie “We have just enjoyed a wonderful stay at Heliview Cottage.”
It was clean , comfortable and very well equipped with everything we needed and more. The hot tub was huge and an added bonus to our stay, with a fabulous enclosed garden with views over to the sea. We would definitely recommend this beautiful cottage and will certainly be booking another stay.
- Debbie, September 2019David “Lovely cottage for 4!”
Hot tub great asset. Great watching planes fly over & seeing air ambulance coming home! Little niggles but didn’t spoil holiday

You can get cosy by the woodburner during the winter months and enjoy a board game at the coffee table or catch up on your favourite shows on TV.
Rustle up a home-cooked meal in the modern-style kitchen and get the whole group together around the dining table to catch up on events form the day.
The sun room can be enjoyed the year-round, a lovely spot for a cup of tea and a chat as you watch the arrivals and departures at the nearby airport from the enclosed garden.
Find three bedrooms over two floors upstairs; there is a double and a twin, which has zip/link beds for flexible sleeping arrangements, then another twin room rests under the eaves.
This is the perfect hideout for the children, where they can snuggle into bean bag chairs with a good book or play games together, as the natural light from the Velux windows flows through.
Pass a summer's afternoon in the garden and enjoy a spot of alfresco dining at the picnic bench and take in the views of the surrounding farmland towards the sea in the distance.

About the location
NEWQUAY
Holywell 6 miles; Perranporth 8.5 miles; Truro 14 miles; Padstow 14 miles.
Newquay is the home of the UK’s surf scene, boasting three major beaches, the National Surf Centre and an endless supply of rolling surf, making it a watersports paradise. The town, with its zoo, sea life centre and varied selection of restaurants and pubs, also promises a holiday to remember. For avid walkers, the South West Coast Path passes in both directions along a stunning coastline of high cliffs, hidden coves and yet more beaches. The quaint harbour and fishing village of Padstow is just 14 miles away, while Truro, with its museums, cathedral, restaurants and cobbled streets, as well as the Eden Project, can be reached within 30 minutes. Picturesque St Ives and the Tate St Ives gallery is under an hour's drive or a train ride away. In fact, because nothing in Cornwall is far from Newquay, it’s the perfect touring base.
Note: Please be aware that throughout the year, the trust runs occasional events and open days which can result in increased activity on site.
Note: Whilst the Coronavirus pandemic is ongoing it may be impossible to offer airside visits in order to protect the aircrew.
Note: The hot tub was removed from this property in May 2020.
Note: Essential Construction works, spring and summer 2021, Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust Operating Base.
During 2021, Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust is extending its aircraft hangar to provide new office and training accommodation for the critical care paramedics, helicopter pilots and engineers. This extension of the existing building is required because the clinical and operational team is bigger, with the charity delivering a life saving service 19 hours per day all year round. This construction work is expected to commence in April, and will continue throughout the summer and into the autumn.
The hours of work for the construction site are 0800 to 1700 Monday to Friday. No works take place during evenings or at the weekends.
The construction site is nearby to Heliview cottage, which is right next door to our charity headquarters, and the operating base for the Cornwall Air Ambulance. Viewing Heliview TR84DY on Google Earth, the works will take place at the furthest end of the hangar building, away from the cottage.
The charity expects the first 3 months of works, getting out of the ground and main construction of the structure, to be the time when the works could be disruptive to visitors. Works vehicles, deliveries, and the construction contractors will all be using the main entrance to the head quarters car park, and operating around the site.
If you normally spend your day out and about while you are on holiday, you may not find the proximity of the building site an issue, however if you prefer to spend long relaxing days in the cottage and the garden, from Monday to Friday up to 5pm, you may be disturbed by vehicle and construction noise.
The charity is discounting the normal cost of a holiday at Heliview by £100 per week for all weeks booked in April through to September 2021.
If there is a delay to starting the works, or of the works end earlier than expected, the discount will still be honoured, even if your holiday is unaffected. Are you on the phone to our call centre? Your Customer ID is: 7eaqmtru
