    “Jenny Wren was perfect for our need as a base for visiting the sights of Cornwall.”

    The property was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Close to local amenities we were able to visit the local pub and shop on foot. We would book the property again and would not hesitate in highly recommending it.

The property

This ground floor annexe is set in the village of Tywardreath, next to the owner’s home, with modern features and a spacious interior.

Ideal for small families or couples, this cottage is well-presented with lovely features, making a delightful base to return to any time of day.

The lounge/diner is a homely place to relax or enjoy a delicious meal, as you admire the views towards the front private garden.

What's more, the kitchen opens out to the charming patio, perfect for a moment or two sitting under the sun with a refreshing drink.

A breakfast bar is a nice addition to the layout, an ideal spot to rest and plan your adventures for the afternoon.

As the night draws in, cosy up in the king-size double bedroom, which promises a peaceful night’s sleep, with a zip/link option should you wish to make use of this.

Lastly a shower room boasts a double shower, finishing the retreat’s interior.

Safe, sandy beaches lie close to the village, with a variety of water sports and leisure activities available.

The attractive waterside village of Fowey is just three miles away, from here there are some dramatic cliff walks to Gribbin Head, passing through much of Daphne du Maurier’s familiar landscape.

There are many family attractions in the area, including Mevagissey and Charlestown harbours, the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

Fowey 3.3 miles; St Austell 6.3 miles.

The pretty, historic Cornish village of Tywardreath, meaning ‘The House on the Strand’, lies in the heart of Daphne du Maurier country and features in her book of the same name. St Andrew’s, the village church, is said to have the best peal of bells in the area, while the village has a lively community, centred round its excellent pubs and range of shops. There are several safe, sandy beaches close to the village, with a variety of watersports and leisure activities available. Par, a small, china clay port with a dog friendly sandy beach is a fifteen minute walk from the village or 5 minutes in the car, home to a main line railway station. Polkerris Beach, a 30 minute walk or a 5 minute drive away, has a beachside restaurant, pub and watersports centre.
