“We have just come back from a week at the Pottery and couldn’t recommend it more highly it really is in an idyllic setting.”
We did not want to leave and neither did our 8 month old puppy who has had an amazing week exploring the Chantry grounds and the numerous breathtaking beaches so close by. The location could not have been better 15 - 20 mins from numerous beaches and 20 mins from Dartmoor meant no long drives were needed and evening trips to the beach for a dog walk just before sunset were lovely. We would definitely recommend Bantham, Hope Cove and Bigbury beaches. The cottage was far bigger than we expected ...

The cottage was far bigger than we expected from the photographs and coming home to the Aga each evening was a complete luxury as it kept the cottage nice and cosy throughout our whole stay. There is also a separate electric oven if needed but we braved the Aga and were not disappointed as once we got used to the different ovens it was very easy to use. Our puppy also enjoyed snoozing next to it :) There is also the log burner in the living room for the evenings.
I was slightly nervous about going on holiday during the pandemic but was very reassured by the guidance/ deep cleaning taking place at the pottery the owners were on hand on the phone if needed but apart from one call to them (for recommendations for our afternoon in Dartmoor) we did not see a soul as we explored the grounds which are very well marked with footpath signs. The pottery also has a separate driveway so there were no worries about social distancing with other visitors as there is plenty of space. Clear instructions and guidance about the grounds and local area were emailed in advance by Nick and Jo the owners and we did not have problems finding it in the dark which was a relief although you do need to be aware that the narrow roads in south Devon may be a challenge if you are not used to countryside driving! The linen, duvet and mattress etc were of very good quality and we slept well during our stay which always helps. Our puppy stayed downstairs and their is a permanent stair gate to help with this (we were debating whether we needed to bring one but this was already taken care of by the owners). We had a fantastic week - thank you Nick and Jo we hope to be back in the future. Mr and Mrs Kennedy
