“Had a nice stay overall - the site was very peace and for us the location was good for access to everywhere we wanted to visit.”

It’s a lovely lodge, but let down by a few points that look to have been mentioned by previous guests, but not rectified. It’s a lovely lodge, but let down by a few points that look to have been mentioned by previous guests, but not rectified. The shower in the en-suite is unusable as the water just trickles out of the shower head - we tried to clear it, but ended up all having to share the shower in the main bathroom, which also had a very dirty shower head and poor water pressure. The outdoor table has a broken leg, meaning we couldn’t use it, which was disappointing given we visited during some very warm weather. There are no cushions for the outdoor seats, or no umbrella as shown in the photos. The whole outdoor area needs a good clean; the decking was dirty and we had to clean the chairs before we could use them. The sofa and chairs are all showing signs of wear/stained and the sofa-bed sofa is incredibly uncomfortable to sit on. The hot tub was spotless and well maintained throughout our stay - we just don’t think they should arrive on the final day to empty it until we have checked out. They arrived at 9am when we were outside having breakfast meaning we had to go inside with the dog. All of these are relatively minor points, but do have an overall impact on the stay. It’s not a cheap break and is a beautiful lodge, it just needs some TLC and should be better at the price point it’s advertised.

Suited to families or small groups looking for both space and privacy, it features a sunken hot tub set into a generous wrap-around deck, a master bedroom with dressing room, and convenient access to Bodmin Moor and both Cornish coastlines.

The open-plan living area is bright and airy, drawing in natural light from multiple aspects, while bi-fold doors frame the lake and create a seamless link between inside and out.

A fitted kitchen provides everything needed for preparing meals, positioned alongside a dining area and a comfortable lounge space designed for spending time together.

The master bedroom offers a calm and well-arranged setting, complete with a king-size bed, a stylish en-suite and a separate dressing room, while the twin bedroom is equally inviting, with patio doors that open to views of the lake.

Outside, the wrap-around deck becomes a central feature of the property, with one side looking out across open countryside and the main south-facing section overlooking the water and landscaped garden areas, where the heated sunken hot tub provides a spot to relax as the light fades.

From this lakeside setting, both Cornwall’s coastlines are easily reached, with Looe’s harbour and beaches, Polperro’s narrow streets and Fowey’s cafés and independent shops to the south, and Padstow, Polzeath and Port Isaac offering coastal scenery to the north.

Inland, Bodmin Moor presents open landscapes and walking routes suitable for all abilities, while local attractions include Adrenaline Quarry, the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, with The Old Mill Bar and Restaurant at nearby Stonerush Lakes providing a nearby dining option.

Whether enjoying time by the water, exploring the outdoors or discovering the coast, 21 Meadow Retreat offers a spacious and well-located base.
