Redruth is a characterful town with an important mining heritage, situated within a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you are looking for a property surrounded by history, why not browse our range of cottages near Redruth?

Why a Redruth cottage?

Redruth dates back as far as the 12th century, when it was established around a ford. Over the years the town forged its way into becoming the capital of Britain's largest and richest tin mining area. Nowadays the town offers a number of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants, with nods to its historic past interwoven with the modern amenities.

The town's location at the heart of The Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site means that there are plenty of fascinating places to visit in the town and the surrounding area. Redruth has a town trail that includes many sites of historical interest, including the Mining Exchange (now the Cornish Studies Library), the railway viaduct and the town clock, as well as the home of William Murdoch, the inventor of the gaslight.

Places to visit near Redruth

Two granite hills lie to the back of Redruth, Carn Brea and Carn Marth. On top of Carn Brea is a medieval castle, and a nineteenth century monument dedicated to Lord Francis Basset, both of which are fascinating to visit. Further afield are the towns and villages of Portreath, Porthtowan, St Agnes and Falmouth, all of which offer plenty of things to do and see.

With so much to see and do, it’s an easy decision to book one of our Redruth cottages.
