“Westside cottage is a lovely clean and comfortable home with all you need and more for a peaceful comfortable stay.”

lovely garden with plenty of seating areas to sit and enjoy the sun and watch the birds. Hope to go back again soon. We had a good break for a week with sunshine every day except for the day before we left when it rained part way through the afternoon whilst on our way to the Halfway House pub for a meal. Clean place with Good menu choice, Friendly and pleasant staff. John Hobby

The property

Cardinham 0.8 miles.

This spacious yet really cosy cottage is set in an idyllic location in an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty near the village of Cardinham, 4.8 miles from Bodmin. Being centrally located this delightful, 18th century traditional granite cottage is the perfect base for visiting both north and south coasts, as well as the stunning moorland and ancient woodland so close by.

Driving through the green country lanes to the cottage provides a taste of things to come and as you arrive the impressive country garden catches your eye along with the beautiful far reaching views beyond the cottage.

Enter into the porch and utility room, ideal for boots and beach equipment, before leading through into the well-equipped kitchen.

From here after passing through the hallway you enter the relaxing homely living room which spans the entire width of the cottage, with wonderful old granite fireplaces at each end and beams adding to the character.

With a woodburner for the cooler evenings and the comfortable dining area this is a room for all seasons.

From here French doors lead out to a small patio to catch the morning sun at breakfast or take tea in the late afternoon.

Upstairs there are two nicely furnished bedrooms, a double and a zip/link king-size double bed offering the choice of two singles.

Outside the wrap around mature garden and deck area is a delight to spend time in at any time of day.

Close by the famous Cardinham Woods is a haven for cyclists and walkers with three off road cycling trails and four waymarked walking trails.

Bikes are available for hire at the woods where there is also an excellent woodland café for well-earned refreshments alongside a play area for the children.

This is also a great spot for picnics and barbecues.

Further cycling opportunities are afforded at the newly opened Lanhydrock Cycle Hub.

Also close by is the well-known and popular Camel Trail offering a delightful walk or bike ride to Padstow or Wadebridge.

Only 4 miles from the cottage is the former national CAMRA pub of the year, the Blisland Inn offering an excellent choice of ales as well as delicious home-cooked food.

Alternatively and equally convenient is the London Inn which nestles in the nearby picturesque moorland village of St Neot, home of the famous Oak Apple Day ceremony.

With the beautiful beaches and fishing villages that have made Cornwall famous all within easy reach this really is a wonderful cottage to enjoy at any time of year.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.

About the location

CARDINHAM

Bodmin 5 miles; Lostwithiel 9 miles; St. Austell 15 miles; Padstow 22 miles; Newquay 24 miles.

The village of Cardinham in Mid Cornwall has a church and there's also a cafe in Cardinham Woods, a haven for cyclists and walkers situated just a few miles away. Bodmin, the one time County Town of Cornwall with its narrow streets, shops and pubs, is perfectly placed for exploring all that this fabulous holiday area has to offer. The outstanding surf, rugged cliffs and hidden coves of the north coast beaches and the quieter sands and river estuaries of the south coast are both 15 miles away while on the edge of town is the fascinating museum and haunting presence of the old Bodmin Jail. The popular Camel Trail for cyclists and walkers also winds its way through the town on its journey to the sea at Padstow. Close by are the open spaces and wind swept grandeur of Bodmin Moor while the incomparable Eden Project (11 miles), Falmouth’s National Maritime Museum (30 miles) and the beautiful harbour town of Padstow with its famous pubs and restaurants (16 miles) make for great days out. Nearby there is the impressive National Trust property of Lanhydrock House open all year, offering a complete insight to life from Queen Victoria to the First World War. For Steam Railway Enthusiasts there is also the Bodmin and Wenford Railway which also connects with the Camel Trail. Also there's a good choice of country pubs and restaurants in the surrounding area.
