“When we arrived there was no heating or hot water.”

There was no number to call in the folder provided on the kitchen table. So after looking at the Sykes website we eventually found a number but it was a long drawn out process to get through to someone. Eventually after a couple of hours the housekeeper arrived who was very friendly and fixed the problem. The dishwasher drawer was broken. There was a broken pane of glass in one of the bedrooms along with a lot of mould on the walls. There was also a lot of damp in the bedroom with bunk beds ...

There was also a lot of damp in the bedroom with bunk beds. Very disappointing. A lot of these problems have been mentioned previously so I don’t understand why they haven’t been fixed. The cottage was lovely and spacious and these problems let it down.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review following your stay. We are glad to hear you found Atlantic Cottage lovely and spacious,  and our lovely housekeeper was able to resolve the heating issue swiftly, we will ensure contact numbers are displayed more prominently in the property going forward.  The dishwasher is fully operational, we have recently had a carpenter attend to make the door open and close more smoothly. The broken window pane will be repaired over the winter period, the property is triple glazed and it is the middle panel that is affected so poses no risk to guests. The property was checked for mould before your stay, as due to the close proximity to moorland and the sea this can appear quite quickly,  in the old part of the house we do have dehumidifiers and shortly a decorator will be attending to reapply mould/damp resistant paint.  Once again thank you for your feedback all issues mentioned are in the process of being addressed. The property

Enjoying a rural setting in the hamlet of Westdowns, between Tintagel and Port Isaac, is this inviting retreat, Atlantic Cottage.

Offering a contemporary interior with an enclosed garden, this character cottage makes a superb touring base for families looking to experience all that Cornwall has to offer.

After a day of walking, look forward to unwinding in the sitting room, complete with a sumptuous corner sofa and Smart TV, here you can tune into your favourite shows whilst reminiscing on the holiday thus far.

On a warm day, throw open the patio doors and access the lawned garden, taking a seat at the outdoor furniture to bask in the sunshine or preparing the table for some alfresco dining.

Allow the chef of the group to get acquainted in the kitchen, offering a contemporary setup with a host of integrated appliances amongst sleek units and a tiled splashback.

Take your pick from the four bedrooms, including two king-size bedrooms, one with a lavish en-suite bathroom, a double and children’s bunk, sleeping up to eight guests, with each bedroom thoughtfully furnished to ensure lovely sleeping quarters.

Start the day with a refreshing shower in either of the shower rooms before taking your morning coffee outside and planning for the day ahead.

If you fancy a night off cooking then less than a mile from the cottage rests the famous Bettle and Chisel pub where a warm welcome is assured, and a choice of local ales and a comprehensive menu is always available.

Walkers can take advantage of the footpaths in the surrounding area; one definitely worth taking up is by the disused airfield at Treligga Downs, which offers picturesque views up and down the coast.

Catch some rays on Backways Cove, or delight in a fun-filled day in the town of Tintagel, home to Merlin's Cave and the imposing fortress of Tintagel Castle.

At Atlantic Cottage you are never far away from the beautiful Cornish coastline, with the impressive and popular Polzeath beach only 20 minutes away and the beautiful Trebarwith Strand beach 15 minutes away.

Those travelling with kids will enjoy a day at the Camel Creek Adventure Park, or hop in the car and head for Porfell Wildlife Park & Sanctuary with something for everyone to enjoy.

About the location

DELABOLE

Tintagel 3.5 miles; Camelford 3.4 miles; Port Isaac 5.3 miles.

At one time the producer of the world’s best quality building and ornamental slate, this now sleepy village is just 2.5 miles from the high cliffs and dramatic scenery of the north Cornish coastline. Perfectly placed for walking the South West coastal path, exploring the high places of nearby Bodmin Moor, or for lazing on the beach at nearby Trebarwith Strand, it’s a well-placed holiday base. The peaceful harbour village of Port Isaac and the town of Tintagel, with its tourist attractions and King Arthur’s legendary castle, are both a short drive, while the stunning surfing beach at Polzeath is a mere nine miles away. Slaughtersbridge, where King Arthur reputedly fought his last battle, is five minutes away and a drive north along the coast takes in the beautiful cove at Crackington Haven. An area away from the main tourist crowds, but very central to a vast array of places and activities. Delabole Quarry itself is just down the road and is an interesting tourist attraction with stunning views. It is the gateway to great countryside walks.

Note: No stag/hen parties, or similar.
