“The cottage is lovely however I don’t feel it’s big enough for 6 people, the kitchen isn’t big enough to cook for 6 people nor is the table for everyone to eat together, we had to eat in shifts and we are all slim people.”

I noted we had a toddler yet the cot was not made up and there was no linen, blanket or pillow for her. We could not park 2 cars 1 behind the other without getting in the way of the other lodges which was frustrating. I am 5’7 my husband 6’2 we could not use the shower upstairs so all 4 adults were using 1 bathroom. My husband couldn’t use the upstairs bathroom without hitting his head. I know this is due to the design of the lodge but I feel it’s worth noting as we look for 2 bathrooms ...

I know this is due to the design of the lodge but I feel it’s worth noting as we look for 2 bathrooms as we travelled with parents and it’s important to us to have space for us all. These are not meant as a negative view however if I had been aware I probably wouldn’t have booked and therefore not been disappointed with the stay. I’d say a family of 4, or 2 adults 2/3 children this lodge would feel OK. Location was good close to all the places we enjoy visiting.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback following your stay at Oaklands, some of which we were disappointed to read. We believe that the photos of the dining table and bathroom are an accurate representation of the property. The photo of the upstairs bathroom shows the exposed oak beams and sloping ceiling at one end of the bath however there is ample room to stand under the shower at the other end of the bath. We are sorry you were unaware that no baby linens/blankets/pillows are provided; this is company policy as it is felt parents would prefer to bring their own baby’s bedding. We have added a reminder to our summary advising future guests of this company policy. There is space to park two medium sized cars at the property, one behind the other, without interference to other surrounding properties. Property Owner

The property

After a day of swimming and surfing on one of the north coast beaches, guests will love to return to this chic rustic lodge.

The sandy beaches at Polzeath, Trebarwith Strand and Bude are all within 30 minutes drive of Oaklands which nestles in a peaceful rural valley between the coast and Bodmin Moor.

Beautifully appointed, the lodge sits beside a gentle stretch of the trout filled River Inny which runs from its source at nearby Davidstow to join the River Tamar in Devon.

Off the beaten track, local facilities include a small supermarket within 3 miles and a good pub/restaurant within 2 miles.

A mooch around the impossibly pretty coastal villages of Boscastle and Port Isaac gives a taste of Cornish life past and present and shopaholics may enjoy a day browsing the boutiques and curio shops clustered around the harbour in Padstow.

Sporty types may prefer to head to one of the links golf courses at Bude, Polzeath or St Enodoc or enjoy a game of tennis on the onsite courts at Oaklands.

For a change of pace you can also enjoy coastal walks, cycling on the camel trail or a trip to the incredible Eden Project.

Part of a select development of privately owned holiday properties, Oaklands effortlessly blends traditional materials with contemporary style.

The exposed English Oak frame and beams set the scene for the tasteful interior with cosy sofas and neutral hues.

The spacious open plan living space and ground floor bedroom and wet room may suit guests who have limited mobility.

Outside, the garden has a deck equipped with garden furniture and views of the rolling landscape across the river which is often dotted with sheep grazing happily in the sunshine.

A cream tea awaits you on arrival.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £150.
