Holiday Cottages in Liskeard

Liskeard is an ancient stannary and market town. It has an ideal location as it is beaches to the south and moorland to the north.

Liskeard was originally called Liscarret, and received its first charter from Richard, Earl of Cornwall, in 1240. It later became one of the county's four coinage towns; later again, the town became very involved in the mining industry.

The town boasts many old buildings of interest, including a Victorian Guildhall and clock tower, the second largest church in Cornwall, and the Stuart House, where Charles I stayed in 1644 during the Civil War.

Liskeard has a heritage trail and a Henry Rice trail - the latter being named after the architect who designed a great many of the town's buildings. The town has a wide range of shops, several offering local produce such as cheese, pasties and mead. There is also a good range of restaurants, cafes and pubs. Liskeard and District Museum is well worth a visit, as is the Lux Park Sports and Fitness Centre.

Liskeard is easily accessed by road and rail.
