Description

Winterbrook Cottage is a fabulous 400-year-old characterful cottage, originally home to a pilchard press, nestled on one of the oldest streets in Mevagissey, Cornwall.

The cottage has been refurbished to a very high standard making it an idyllic base for families seeking to explore the Cornish Coast within a town bursting with heritage.

Upon entry, you will be delighted by the nautical, stylish furnishings, recently renovated in 2021 to provide a base for easy and comfortable living.

The kitchen is not shy of amenities needed to rustle up a home-cooked meal or unbox a local takeaway.

After a long day of exploring, curl up on the sofa with the electric fire keeping your feet toasty, with your favourite show on the Smart TV.

Wind down with a soak in the ground floor bath, before retiring in one of the three bedrooms; A king-size, a double and a bunk, providing a perfect balance of comfort and convenience, all of which boasting characterful features, combined with contemporary interior with ample storage for the over packers of your family!

When it’s time to venture out of the property, check out the suggested maps and walking routes directly from the front door, curtsey of the cottage.

Winterbrook is an ideal base for those heading to the renowned Boardmasters Festival, as well as cultural events such as Mevagissey Feast Week and Fowey Regatta, all bursting with vibrancy.

A short meander down the hill from the cottage will bring you to the beautiful harbour where you can find fresh catch of the day from street food vans.

There are locals and tourists alike who enjoy a coffee or glass of wine sat on the tables near the She Sells Café and a range of independent restaurants, pubs and boutiques you can spend hours browsing around.

Mevagissey is one of the oldest working fishing ports in the UK; so be sure to pack a fishing rod and see what you can find!

Its name is derived from two saints – St Meva and St Issey - the first recording of the village is from 1313, and Bronze age settlements have also been found here.

Walk along the picturesque harbour wall, visit the Mevagissey Museum, and head along the coast in both directions to find a host of sandy beaches.

There are ample water- sporting activities for the daring guest; sailing, surfing, paragliding, to name a few.

Or tranquil beach escapes if you’d prefer to pack a book and get lost in the myriads of blues from the ocean.

The Lost Gardens of Hegelian botanical gardens is close by, while the world-famous Eden Project is within a short drive.

Hop on a ferry at the harbour and visit Fowey, a town and cargo port situated at the mouth of the River Fowey, with a host of sandy beaches, like the National Trust Lantic Bay, along with sheltered coves such as Readymoney Cove and a host of attractions, including 16th century St Catherine's Castle.

Enjoy scenic walks along the South Coast in both directions; head north to the market town of St Austell and onwards towards the Polperro Heritage Coastline, while South encompasses the Roseland Heritage Coastline, one of the most picturesque and unspoilt stretches of stunning coastline in the UK.

Winterbrook Cottage is a wonderful, family-friendly property, close to the coast and a number of fantastic attractions in south Cornwall.

What a wonderful stay we had at Winterbrook Cottage.

It is a beautiful cottage and has everything you need. The instructions for finding the cottage and key were accurate. It was equipped for everything you needed and so many utensils and cutlery, plates you won’t run short. The bathroom was clean. On the second floor was the living room which is a very good size and felt very homely. We stayed in the bedroom on this floor as my husband has mobility issues and whilst the walk to the cottage is steep he was able to do it and we knew this before booking. The bedroom was lovely and comfortable and plenty of room for your clothes. I went up to the third floor and saw the bedrooms which again looked lovely and had plenty of room. I would definitely return back to this cottage and thank you for a wonderful stay.

I would suggest some safety bars be added around the bath/shower.

Everything else was super. The location was bang on and the house was extremely comfortable and clean. We had our children with us. 23-17 and they loved it too.
