    “Stayed here in June 2026 as a couple.”

    We had a warm welcome upon arrival, and the owners checked that we had everything we needed. The first thing we noticed was just how spectacular the views were. A delicious cream tea and fresh milk were waiting in the fridge for us, which was a nice touch after a long drive. The cottage was in excellent condition with a wide range of kitchen utensils to use and the bed was comfortable and clean.     We had a warm welcome upon arrival, and the owners checked that we had everything we needed. The first thing we noticed was just how spectacular the views were. A delicious cream tea and fresh milk were waiting in the fridge for us, which was a nice touch after a long drive. The cottage was in excellent condition with a wide range of kitchen utensils to use and the bed was comfortable and clean. The location is particularly good in that it is central to most places within Cornwall, having spent no more than an hour on average to get to places such as Port Isaac and Newquay. Liskeard provides electric charging points and local supermarkets for those looking to self-cater. If we had to say one bad thing, it would be the washing machine not working on our visit but the helpful owners quickly dropped off spare towels. Looking forward to visiting again and checking out more local villages and the walks nearby. On the last day the owner came over to say bye and asked how the week went, wishing us a safe journey home, which was a lovely personal touch. If you are looking for a relaxing retreat in Cornwall and don't mind driving, then you will not find better then Cheesewring farm, it was stunning!

UPTON CROSS

Liskeard 6 miles; Tavistock 15 miles.

Upton Cross is a small Cornish village originally housing miners but now a quiet retreat set in rolling countryside on the edge of Bodmin Moor. From here there is easy access to some of Bodmin Moor’s most striking features, including the Cheesewrings, Sharp Tor and the engine houses at Minions, as well as Kitt Hill and Caradon Hill. The village has a traditional 17th century pub serving good food and a Post Office. Both coasts are within easy reach, from the crashing surf of the north coast to the clear waters and fishing villages of the south. Siblyback Lake, 6 miles away, offers angling and water sports, and there is salmon and trout fishing available on local rivers. Upton Cross has its own open air theatre offering a varied programmed through the season. A village in the heart of Cornwall, ideal for getting away from it all.
