Summerleaze beach is the nearest beach to Bude. It is situated beside the town's canal and is very popular with families as it is very sheltered. There is a free tidal swimming pool; it is recommended that you use this pool rather than swim in the sea as there are strong sea currents. There is one large car park by the beach and another car park by the canal bridge. There is a cafe, toilets and several small shops nearby. Lifeguards are on duty in the peak season. Dogs are welcome on the beach all year round but must be kept on their leads in the peak season between the hours of 10am and 6pm.
