“The property was very comfortable.”

I especially liked the little garden for our dog. It has everything you could need and want. Music, books, games, etc. The owner was quick to respond when we mentioned water coming from the gutter outside the front door, and that problem is fixed now. She was quick to respond to our request to stay an extra night. It is lovely, warm, and cosy when the weather is bad, but airy when the weather improves. The on-site launderette was useful because we had had another week of self-catering prior to ...

“Only problem was the guttering needs cleaning out at the front and back which was a nightmare as it is just by the front door and due to the amount of rain we had we got soaked leaving or entering the property.”

Was reported on the Sunday and was not sorted by the time we left. Nice comfy cottage all that you need. Caretaker faye very pleasant and helpful

“The property was beautifully clean, the bed was super comfortable and the chairs to die for and sink into after a busy day holiday making.”

Only thing eas trying to get hold of a taxi was really difficult and it was pure luck we got hold of a company in the end. Parking was good and directions from the sat nav to get into the camp was easy and facilities at Bude, I.e. supermarkets and eating places were good especially if you are gluten free. Highly recommend the parkhouse. Well done we will definitely be back next year with our grandchildren in tow !

Thank you for yourfeedback. Apologies for the poor internet. We have been experiencing problems with the wifi since the last high winds. Both BT and our own contractor have been on site trying to rectify the issues. Whilst there are no footpaths on the lanes there are footpaths which are accessible from the site for safe walking. We have spoken to the gardener about the length of the grass! Apologies for this. Property Owner

“The cottage was a little tired, the info provided advises that the owners are selling to fund their retirement, we did wonder if that had some bearing on what we found.”

The outside of the cottage was grubby, lots of dust and cobwebs around, especially at the back and in the garden area.the small lawn had not been mowed, nor had the 2 either side and the tiny garden was full of tall weeds and thistles. Inside was nice enough, the kitchen bin was very mucky around the base and lid.it was left cleaner when we left than when we arrived. An ok stay but could have been better with a few tweaks.

Thank you for your feedback and obviously we are extremely disappointed. I spoke with the gardener on Friday who told me he had been unable to cut all of the lawns due to the weather. I will ask him to deal with the weeds immediately. The outside of the cottage was painted earlier this year. We do have a constant battle with the spiders creating cobwebs. As for the bin, this should have been cleaned and I will address this with the cleaning team. As for selling, this has no bearing on the upkeep of the cottage as shown by the new flooring throughout and we will continue to maintain standards. Property Owner

“Interior a little dated and tired.”

No hot water only lukewarm. Sink In bathroom slow to empty and strong smell of sewerage outside some days. Chairs in living room not very comfortable. Bed however was very comfortable and towels were lovely.

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry if you felt the cottage was a little tired inside. We have just had new flooring throughout and we do try to keep things up to standard. The sink in the bathroom has been plunged and is now draining freely. We are looking into the hot water as the thermostat was changed earlier this year! The sewage smell may in part have been due to local farmers muck spreading but again, this is being investigated. Property Owner

“Honeysuckle cottage was a lovely place to stay, with everything provided you could want - except no corkscrew!”

Not having a smartphone or satnav it took me a while to locate Trevalgas cottages but friendly natives pointed the way and then another resident told me how to reach the A39 really easily, after that getting about was plain sailing. The only downside for me and my very old dog was not being able to walk off the site to a good exercise area as the surrounding lanes were narrow and not very safe so we had to actually drive somewhere. This wouldn't worry most people.

“There was more included here than I had been led to believe from other reviews.”

Cupboards had egg cups and all other utensils one might need There was even complimentary tea and coffee and loo roll. There was washing up liquid and cleaning materials too. (Cork screw broken however fyi). A small sofa would be my only suggestion. Two chairs in Honeysuckle cottage perfectly adequate but I do love to put my feet up. Site was very well kept. Location ideal to get to most places. Wifi was as advertised a little dodgy. But did use it when possible. Indoor Pool was a real bonus!

“A clean and comfortable little cottage in pleasant surroundings.”

The dogs were made welcome with throws provided to put on the bed or chairs if the dogs like to go on them, instead of a list of rules saying they’re not allowed and the enclosed garden was good for them. The cottage was well equipped with everything you would need for a week away and the bed was comfortable. The only thing I would suggest is more hangers in the wardrobe as there were only 4 but that is a minor point. We would definitely stay again.

the accuracy of the garden image was very deceptive, only big enough for a tortoise. The directions were very difficult to follow, thankfully with the help of locals we arrived eventually. even the locals that helped us said they were poor

“The property had everything we needed and was very comfortable - especially the bed.”

The property inside was clean but the outside door /window / patio frames/ guttering etc could do with a clean - they are full of cobwebs. The handle on the inside of the bathroom door needs some attention - it comes off in your hand when you close the door. I think it could be made clearer that if you want to walk anywhere from the property there is only one way in and out of the complex and the road that you have to use is not very wide and there is no pavement. We enjoyed our stay here but won’t be returning.

“Honeysuckle cottage is set in a lovely area.”

It's so peaceful. The added benefit of the enclosed garden was perfect for our little dog ! The cottage was comfortable and well equipped with everything you would need. Although we didn't use the onsite facilities we were ensured by our neighbours in the next cottage that they were great. We would definitely book Honeysuckle Cottage again

We had the most enjoyable week, The cottage had everything we needed, although it was smaller than I expected, if like us you are only going to use this as a base and intend to be out and about for most of the day it is perfect, it is perfectly located for visiting many tourist sites and less than a 10-minute drive from the beautiful Summerleaze beach & the town centre with plenty of shops & bars, there is also a lovely walk down by the canal, all in all, we had a lovely, relaxing week and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys long walks in tranquil surroundings

“We arrived last saturday 14/09/19, after unpacking and getting settled we sat down to watch tv for the evening, after about an hour i started to itch and scratch till we went to bed.”

the next morning when i opened the curtains the sun shone on to chair i was sat in, the whole chair was covered in dogs hair, i had to brush the hairs on to the carpet and hoover it up. The rest of the holiday was very uncomfortable plus we were finding flea,s on us. I know you have a welcome pet,s policy but should dogs be allowed to sit in the chairs that we have to sit in after. The location of the cottage was excellent, pool was great, everything else was fine.

I was extremely disappointed to receive your feedback via Sykes,particularly as in recent weeks we had received two 100% responses. I had already been alerted by our caretaker, Renee, who had found your note on Saturday. We always strive to provide a clean and welcoming cottage and I am upset that this did not happen on the day you arrived at Trevalgas - I have asked our caretaker to ensure that this does not happen again. With regard to fleas, during the summer months many of the cottages suffer as the result of fleas being picked up by dogs on beaches etc (or bringing them on holiday with them) however my sister had recently given all of our cottages a treatment as a precaution even though no fleas had actually been reported in our cottages so that they should not have been present! Our caretaker is carrying out another treatment to make sure there are none remaining. She would, of course, have been more than happy to carry out additional cleaning and to spray for fleas during your stay had she been aware of the problem. Finally, I note your comment regarding dogs on chairs and I certainly would not allow it, but unfortunately we cannot control what other guests do whilst they are on holiday or indeed in their own homes. I apologise that your stay was not as comfortable as it should have been and trust that despite this you did enjoy your time at Trevalgas. As you can see, your valuable feedback has been noted and appropriate action taken. Property Owner

“The cottage is in an ideal location with all local supermarkets and the town centre being a short 5-10 minute drive away.”

There is very little sound of passing traffic due to the location of Trevalgas cottages. As a result, the sheep and birds can be heard all throughout the day which is very calming. The cottage itself was extremely clean and comfortable. It had everything from cutlery to a fully equipped picnic basket! The on-site laundry room is especially handy and the heated swimming pool is a bonus. I would highly recommend Honeysuckle cottage to those looking for an alternative to a hotel and wish to be a little closer to nature. My partner and I, and our 2 dogs, will definitely be returning! Thank you to Reneé for the cleanliness and upkeep of the property ♡

at Honeysuckle cottage, Poughill, again. So comfortable, clean & equipment first class. Our only disappointment was the heating system at the swimming baths which is letting everyone down again. The swimming pool, Games room, outside surroundings & access to Town & beautiful coast line walks are a real asset.

If I could have one plea it would be to replace the vacuum cleaner, its an outdated model and in need of a filter change; but the main factor is that its such hard work to try and clean up dog hairs to ensure we can leave the Cottage clean. Poughill is a lovely village, very friendly with plenty of eating places that welcome dogs. A thoroughly recommended break.

We did have a nice holiday and would return .We did not use the facilitys but will if we return i have no complaints about the weather because it was april .Honesuckle cottage is fine for a weeks stay and has everthing you need . milk in the fridge for our arrival plus plus a compliment of tea sugar and coffee sachets

“This lovely little cottage was very suitable for our needs, it had all that we could wish for & much more, the location was excellent & a short distance to the lovely beaches & canal at Bude.”

There was plenty of good walks for our two dogs & although the weather was inclement it did not curtail our enjoyment of the holiday. We, like other parts of the country were affected by the " beast from the east" snow blizzards towards the end of our weeks holiday but we were pleansantly surprised with the wonderful care & attention given to us by the caretaker " Renee" & her staff. We would certainly return to this site again.

In the cottage there was ample room for just the two of us and it was very homely with plenty of facilities. I booked the cottage mainly for the indoor pool and it did not disappoint. It was clean, warm and was never full so we were able to swim freely.

The property

This charming mid-terrace cottage rests on the fringes of Bude, with beautiful, rural views, in the stunning region of Cornwall.

Set all on ground floor, this accommodation is ideal for couples, with a double bedroom boasting crisp bed linens and wooden furnishings for a rustic feel.

Set amongst well-kept gardens, courtyards and orchards, and overlooking the lovely Cornish countryside, this group of Bude cottages offers a relaxing holiday complete with shared use of a 40ft indoor heated swimming pool. The local picturesque village of Poughill (which is pronounced “Poffle”) is just a ten minute walk from the cottages; it has won the Best Kept Village award several times and has a number of pretty thatched cottages and a village pub serving delicious food. The dramatic North Cornwall coastline is only two miles away. Guests will have no shortage of activities whilst staying in these Bude cottages, including stunning cliff-top walks along the South West Coast Path, lazing on the long sandy beaches in the Bude area, or surfing at Widemouth Bay. Bude is a fabulous coastal town that once visited you will want to come back to time and time again. Bude has something for everyone, great beaches for relaxing, and building sandcastles on, rockpools for investigating at low tide and cafes to watch it all from. The rolling waves are great for surfing all year round, and the footpaths by the restored canal or on the North Cornwall coastal path offer you a superb opportunity to explore and appreciate the outstanding countryside. Bude also has a superb golf course, indoor swimming pool, bowling alley/indoor play area and Heritage Centre at Bude Castle. It also has a good selection of local shops, supermarkets, cafes, pubs, restaurants and excellent Information Centre. Within a short drive are the remains of a huge iron age hill fort at Warbstow Bury, from where panoramic views can be seen. For days out, take the coast road north to see the lonely lighthouse above the sea at Hartland Point or walk or ride a donkey down the steep and cobbled village street (no cars allowed) of beautiful Clovelly to the harbour and the pub far below. Follow the coast in the other direction and there's the little cove of Crackington Haven, Boscastle, King Arthur's castle at Tintagel, Doc Martin's Port Wenn at Port Isaac and yet more great surfing beaches at Polzeath.
