Lovely clean and comfy, parking a bit tight but managable.

Could have done with leaving us a few logs to make a fire as although the week before had been red hot when we arrived it was quite chilly at times and wet, couldn't get the bedroom heater to work at alll living room heater we did but wasnt that easy, however we enjoyed our stay, the 3 pilchards pub was nice food was too also the the 3 tuns in st keveridge did very nice meals

Quite the little find, this cottage is well placed in a quiet corner of the Lizard, near the beach and within easy access of the whole peninsula for great walking and visiting the many charming fishing villages.

A compact and cosy place, it is very well equipped indoors with all the essentials you need, and outside with off street parking and a sun trap garden. The locals are extremely friendly and helpful, and the Five Pilchards pub is a welcoming place to enjoy a rewarding drink after a good day out. When there was an issue in the property the owner responded immediately and, even though it was a Bank Holiday Sunday late evening, found a willing and extremely helpful tradesman who was determined to fix things at all costs, it’s impossible not to be impressed. Cannot fault the owner’s speedy reaction and the neighbours willingness to help. Very happy to recommend, it will be a great place to revisit.

Perfect place for two people who want peace and quiet with beautiful walks from the doorstep.

The car didn't move all week. The local pub is friendly and the beer was good. The cottage was beautifully appointed, the shower was good and the kitchen was well equipped. The garden was a real bonus and was a sun trap. We will definitely return.

It’s an adorable cottage and garden. A Comfortable. Clean & Calming space. Great spot in the village. Just what I needed for my escape from Bristol City. And I really appreciated the welcome pack which included milk & biscuits.… I wish I had booked it for a few more days!

This is a lovely cottage ,in a beautiful area a few mins walk to the sea ,so peaceful, and everyone was so friendly, the cottage was lovely and cosy and had everything you would need for a comfortable and relaxing stay , would definitely recommend,

Ideal location for a quite relaxing holiday. Only real downside is the garden could do with a bit of a tidy up overall though we had a very pleasant stay.

Lovely, clean and well equipped cottage in a fabulously quiet village only yards from the sea and coast path.

Out of season you need to be prepared to drive to amenities (which we don’t mind).

Cockle Island is a lovely cottage, well maintained and very well equipped.

Perfect for two people. I will point out that due to the time of year, February, the toilet cistern got a lot of condensation on it, that would drip on the floor beneath the toilet, so we had to make sure that we wiped the cistern to keep the floor dry. A better towel rail would be good. Although hot, the minimal design, an S-shape, only just dried the towels and did nothing to warm the bathroom. Those two comments aside, we enjoyed our stay and would stay there again. It is very close to the sea and the South West Coast path goes through Porthallow.

Another great stay in Porthallow.

Cottage is one of the best equipped we have stayed in, although it does need some more large plates, one split in half on us and another has the same crack running across it. The only downside to the village is the pub being closed and the "beach cafe" rarely being open. This has definitely affected the footfall to the village and if you want to eat/drink out means a car journey. For such a fabulous place this is a great shame.

As always, it's always a pleasure to enjoy The comforts of Cockle Island cottage.

Can,t think of anything to add to improve My stay.

My only comments are that the village pub has been closed for several months and that should have been made clear in Sykes’ marketing.

The villagers now meet for a bring-your-own social gathering every Friday in the village hall!! Also, Sykes’ external photos do not do justice to how beautiful the cottage garden is - it’s full of flowers……..

We had a wonderful stay at Cockle Island cottage, the facilities at the cottage were excellent, lovely decor and a superb view.

Unfortunately on arrival, we found that the only village pub was permanently closed, which was disappointing and inconvenient as we had to travel 5 miles to the nearest pub. One of the reasons we selected this cottage was because it was stated to be less than a mile from a pub. We would definitely book the cottage again, but only if the pub is up and running. Thank you for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

We have stayed before and every thing was ok.

We arrived on3May. The garden furniture was filthy no umbrella . The garden looked as though it hadn't been looked after 4 months. Cobwebs all over windows sills filthy slugs on walls. !!! We opened the and it hadn't been cleaned correctly. We rang Sykes. I opened the kitchen cupboards! Glasses cutlery dirty

A lovely clean and comfortable cottage.

Well maintained and very well equipped everything we needed. Thoughtful welcome pack and lots of little extras. Lovely place to stay and so close to the sea an added bonus a pub within walking distance. Woken in the mornings with birdsong. Perfect.

The cottage was very well equipped and very clean.

The heating was efficient and the log burner made it very cosy. This was a good base to do our next sections of the coast path despite storm Ciaran! The goodies were a nice touch too.

Desperately needs a bigger fridge freezer, got fed up of everything falling out of the fridge every time we opened the door.

Very disappointed there were no recycling bins, it seems Cornwall doesn't care about this as all the bins have disappeared outside the villages and supermarkets too. If you want to save money plumb the hot water tap in the bathroom the right way round I lost count of the times we left it running thinking we had turned it off.

This cottage lived up to our expectations and was well maintained, pleasantly furnished, and had the added bonus of a kingsize bed with feather duvet.

Although small, it was cosy,warm, and most important of all, clean. We enjoyed our stay here in what is a very peaceful and scenic location next to the coastal path. Narrow lanes when dirving out and about, but not a problem for us as we have a small car.

We were delighted with the cottage, which exceeded our expectations.

It was well fitted out, very clean, and the garden was a bonus as we were able to sit out in it most days, enjoying the peace and quiet. It was a shame that the local pub had closed for a month for refurbishment but this did not spoil our enjoyment.

The property was great, could do with a bigger fridge/freezer and a more comfy sofa to make it perfect.

The location is brilliant and how well equipped it was made a pleasant surprise.

The hand towels had mould stains on and the bath towels looked like they had been used by someone wearing fake tan.

Luckily there were spares in the cupboard because this was reported to the housekeeper who said they send towels and bedding to an outside agency, there was no offer made to replace them with clean ones. The inside door of the shower has mould on it as did the bottom of the shower door. A deep clean is all that is required to solve the mould issue and checking the towels before renting the cottage would prevent any further issues. Overall the cottage was comfortable and well maintained with a few issues that prevented my wife from relaxing completely.

Not my first stay at Cockle Island Cottage So I am biased.

This is a well equipped cottage situated in An idyllic fishing village. Good food locally beautiful walks And the magic of Cornwall. Recommended.

No issues with the cottage.

It was an ideal location and base from which to explore. My wife was also pleasantly surprised the cottage was much closer to the village than expected, especially because of her mobility problems. Television was a little complicated to fathom initially but we got there in the end. We would have no problem about returning to this accommodation in the future. And indeed hope to do so

Lovely escape — cosy but bright cottage and lovely garden.

A lovely, cosy cottage in a peaceful location just two minutes from the beach.

Lovely cottage, very comfortable and private, yet so close to the village centre.

Unfortunately we had to cut our stay short but would love to stay again.

The cottage was extremely comfortable and the layout was well designed to make the most of a small space, it felt quite roomy due to the lovely, seaside-themed decor scheme throughout.

It was well-equipped, with everything we could have wanted to make our stay enjoyable. In addition, there was a fairly spacious garden which was a lovely sun-trap in the afternoons. Added to this, a two or three minute walk to the beach and the pub, and it was in many ways the perfect holiday base. There are, however, one or two things which held me back from giving a higher rating than I did: the cottage is reached by means of a long, narrow and winding road which must be negotiated every time you want to leave the village; some of the fittings are obviously quite old and show it, specifically the kitchen taps, which moved around on their bases every time they were turned on; and finally, while the cottage was, in general, well kept and prepared, closer inspection revealed some areas which simply had not been cleaned between visitors. Skirtings and the pipes behind the basin and toilet showed an accumulation of dust and dirt, and there was a considerable gathering of cobwebs behind the knife block in the kitchen and around the wood-burner and its alcove. Aside from these details, the cottage is an otherwise delightful holiday base, and I would certainly use it again.

Lovely comfortable and cosy cottage in a great location for exploring the Lizard peninsula.

Good walks from the doorstep and lots of coves and cliffs to discover as long as you don't mind the narrow and winding roads of rural Cornwall

Wonderful location and perfectly well serviced for a couple.

It would have been great to have a BBQ.

WiFi would be a valuable extra at this property as so many attractions need to booked online these days and there is no phone signal in the area either.

This was the first cottage that exceeded the description on line.

Very tastefully decorated, lots of home comforts and immaculately clean - especially with Covid at present. Well tended private garden - not large but not overlooked. It's a place to return to again and again.

Everything you need and lovely garden and walks from the cottage. Local pub very friendly and very good food. Beach very clean and not too busy. Sea lovely and clear great for swimming.

Everything was lovely we even had the best weather for that week.

We didnt want to go home.The cottage had all we needed.The area of Porthallow is like a little paradise.thank you.Hope to go back again.

A wonderful place to stay, loved the peace and quiet, the garden and friendly blackbird that sat by us on the patio.

Would recommend to anybody looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cottage itself was very cosy and comfortable, if there was anything I would change, would be to have a slightly bigger fridge. Porthallow was a lovely village, the Five Pilchards Inn, did great food and the hospitality was exceptional as was the Fat Apples Cafe. Be aware mobile phone signal was very patchy at best, although that didn't bother us. We would not hesitate to stay in this cottage again.

We loved the cottage, spotlessly clean, well equipped, very comfortable and we loved the unspoilt nature of Porthallow and the proximity to coast path, beach and very good pub.

Cockle Island Cottage is everything you would want for a relaxing week away.

The cottage is lovely and cosy and the welcome tray is a enjoyable bonus. We have been to the Cottage once before and hope to make a third visit sometime in the future.

Beautifully clean cottage, superb location - just 2 minutes walk to an unspoilt beach which was really safe to swim in.

Lovely garden made it feel like home.
