“Another glorious return to Faraway Cottage.”

The cottage is as lovely as ever with improvements always ongoing and appreciated. It is always warm, cosy, comfortable and clean. The welcome hamper was great - thank you! Location! Location! Location! Gave us - 1. Wonderful cliff top walks, 2. Great Views, 3. Watched the seals, 4. Listened to the birds, 5. Fabulous concert at The Minnack, 6. Peace, 7. Tranquillity, The list goes on... Just what we needed. Always sad to leave xx

“A lovely cottage in a fabulous location, away from it all.”

We have stayed many times and Faraway cottage always gives a beautiful holiday. Welcome hamper was lovely. Cottage warm and cosy and good facilities. Linen and towels great quality. The walks from the cottage in both directions along the coastal path are fabulous. Thank you Faraway and Cornish cottages.

“We are back again after 25 years, what a magical trip down memory lane.”

We stayed here with our 4 children a few times and we have so many wonderful memories & Faraway did not disappoint. We have returned with friends and have had a fantastic week, walking the cliffs & beaches, seen many seals and had enjoyed the pubs. Loved Logan Rock Inn & Tinners Arms. Weather was fantastic!! Faraway is the most perfect spot to relax & watch the world go by.

“Great location but our comfort was spoiled by poorly maintained sash windows.”

In short, all repeat all, of the sash windows in the bedrooms and the lounge need to be made significantly more draught proof. In a very exposed position, the house gets the full brunt of the Atlantic weather and, in winter, high cold winds are a near constant. The sash windows in both bedrooms and the lounge have huge gaps through which the wind howls and makes these rooms uncomfortable. The meeting bars and vertical stiles fit badly and do not have draught brushes fitted. The wedges fitted to these windows may stop the sashes rattling but they do absolutely nothing to reduce the draughts. It proved impossible to maintain a comfortable temperature in the lounge without the log burner and so we were forced to spend £60 on logs.

“Third time at Faraway and another restful holiday.”

Great walking straight from the door. Local to various attractions such as The Minnack Theatre, Lands End and various beaches. Shops/farm shop within driving distance. Look forward to coming back at a future date.

“Absolutely gorgeous cottage.”

Literally faraway from all the hustle and bustle of life. Arriving at night there was no light pollution just a stunning twinkly starry night. On waking we realised what a stunning locationit actually was! Immaculately clean cottage with everything you need to make it a real home from home. A gorgeous welcome hamper! We had our first cream tea (jam on first I have to say :-)) Comfy beds, hot water, fluffy towels, cozy living room and beautiful garden. The 5* touches throughout brought the old and new together. Loved sitting watching the cows graze and the sunrises and sunsets. The location is perfect. Walking to Lands End,spotting sparrow hawks, a lone seal and two dolphins. A trip to The Minak Theatre. Driving to farm shops for a pasty and Poldark coves for a Cornish icecream. Having a washing machine and tumble dryer was a real added bonus. We closed the door,as we left, drove down the rugged track and both admitted how much we were going to miss Faraway Cottage. Thankyou so much for such a wonderful time out from the World.

“Returned here after an 18 year gap.”

(I know life gets in the way of a good holiday) Hadn't Changed, still wild, remote, peaceful. A Great place to recharge ones batteries. Weather pretty 'autumnal' with a few early gales- another sign of the times. Loved the walking around Faraway to Porthgwarra and Nanjizal. Choughs have returned in good numbers- They wee not here when we last came - a credit to RSPB & local land owner - Thank you! It will not be another 18 years until we return next time.

...... WOW! Such a beautiful and magical location away from the hustle and bustle of real life with views to die for. We loved our evening cliff walks, watching the sun go down over Nanjizal Bay. “Our second visit to Faraway Cottage.”

The weather for once was dry. A mix of sun, cloud, wind. A couple of amazing clear skies so we had a great opportunity to use the telescope. We chose not to use the car for day trips, instead walking straight from the cottage door or just enjoying relaxing, reading and watching some good films on Netflix which is a bonus at a holiday let. also we enjoyed some nice food and purchased locally in Cornwall in addition to the great hamper. We will miss the wonderful scenery from all windows but look forward to our return visit. Thank you for a nice clean cottage.

“Another lovely week at Faraway as always.”

We stayed near the cottage, Sennen Cove bring the furthest we travelled. Our week started with some warm pleasant weather but ended cold & breezy. We can recommend Shanty's Fish & Chips in Sennen, very good- but only open Fri & Sat 5-8pm at this time of year. Had a lovely meal as the First and Last Inn and we love a nice meal at the Land End Hotel, magical views on what was a beautiful day. Not as many birds on our walks this time, but a highlight was a chattering of 9 Chough by Carn Les Boel- Our favourite place on the cliffs below the cottage. Looking forward to Bosistow in November and back to Faraway next March.

“Comfortable, inviting and off the beaten track - perfect for what we like about a cottage.”

Bed extremely comfortable but pillows were rock hard. After a pretty much sleepless night and headache from the pillow I felt the pillows in the other bedroom and, fortunately, the last one I felt was soft. This saved driving home (also Cornwall) to collect my own. Thus, unless potential bookers like hard pillows, I’d suggest taking your own. Fabulous walking from the door and we look forward to staying at this gem again.

“The cottage is in a beautiful location and just what we wanted.”

However, the cleanliness was lacking. Cobwebs, general smell of damp. The front of the house as you approach is green with algae which could be washed off. The freezer was dirty with previous guests bits of food in it. The hamper was crawling with little tiny insects of some kind. The ash collector for the fire was full to the brim. The bins were full of beer bottles. So despite the magnificent location, the presentation of the accommodation was poor. The track up to the cottage needs attention, it's getting to the point that only 4x4 vehicles are suitable.

“The track from the big house down to Bostistow Farmhouse is very bumpy and big pot holes right down to Faraway.”

I understand you would spoil the effect of leading down to Faraway if it was tarmaced . if it was gravelled all the way down would be more easy on our cars.

“We had a lovely stay at Faraway and perfect get away retreat.”

Thoroughly enjoyed the quiet, views and peace. The cottage was very clean and cosy and the locals we met on walks extremely friendly. Beautiful area to explore. Our down side would be the unmaintained access land to get to the cottage. We live in Devon in the country( near the Moors) so we are no towny(!) but found the lane extremely difficult to navigate especially after a huge amount of rain, huge holes in land thick in mud. Our car is filthy and it felt like off roading! Maybe a bit of maintenance on this, filling in some of the holes would make it a little more appealing. Unfortunately for this reason alone we decided not to rebook. Other than that we were very happy with the cottage.

“The facilities at Faraway Cottage were excellent and the cottage was warm and very comfortable, the bathrooms are modern and there was plenty of hot water.”

The kitchen is well equipped and although there were a few small maintenance issues they were quickly fixed. We were delighted to be staying at Faraway Cottage and hope to return!

“While we loved the location ,and the cottage had everything you could wish for except that as it was quite away form shops etc and we had to stay in a few days because the weather was so wet and windy and ran out of logs for the fire ,this made it a nightmare to go out in the bad weather as what you described as a bumpy track was actually was full of huge pot holes and it was quite a long track ,you could not see how deep they were ,1) because of the heavy rain and 2) because of the mess the farmers threw up as they passed by .”

We were concerned every time we went out ,our car was rocking back and for despite going very slowly .Something should be done about this as it became impassable unless you have a huge SUV or land rover .Our friend could not visit us as they have a Mini Clubman and took one look at the lane and did not go any further which we were not happy about .The cottage is in a lovely location ,but we were worried every time we went out .We left a day early as we were worried about the weather reports we saw in Devon ,where we live .I did let Bex know the hub manager for the ST Aubyn estate ,which she said she would feed back .I would say that the description of the track is not quite accurate and needs to be made clearer so people can see if they have a vechicle which will manage the horrendous bumps and pot holes . There was no mention in the visiters book about it ,we can only guess that their vehicles were as the above. Wendy Phillips

“We've just had the most amazing stay here, and really did feel Faraway from everything.”

What a beautiful cottage, we felt at home straight away. Watched to Nanjizal cove, to Land's End and the Headland. We both had our birthdays here, and it was perfect. Low tide and high tide both worth spending time at Nanjizal. Cottage perfect, sea views, roaring fire, warm and cozy even with wind howling outside, 2 named storms in our week, with a day of calm in the middle. Sadly Barbara Hepworth garden was closed, so we'll have to return! Enjoyed St Ives and the Dog Rabbit cave was great for vegans and vegetarians. We are renewed and refreshed and very happy. Thank you very much for everything, we loved it all. Nita and Tony

“We booked Faraway Cottage at the last minute and knew it was the right choice straight away.”

As Aristotle said "The whole is greater than the sum of all it's parts." From the Awe inspiring location with amazing views, to little touches of "Bloom soap". The open fire, bedding and towels, the warmth and coziness of the heating. The attentive staff and attention to details. All individually important but together as a whole it created an Awesome Oasis for the soul allowing us to recharge and regroup. Thank you all for this Magical Experience! Jon and Vanessa

The parish of St Levan derives its name from the 4th Century saint who settled here. The ancient ruins of his Chapel can still be seen today above Church Cove, one of three beautiful and secluded beaches on this wild, unspoilt, and staggeringly beautiful peninsular, the most South Westerly point in the UK. Porthgwarra, the next beach along, sparkles at the end of a valley. You’ll find tunnels hewn into the cliffs, and the Porthgwarra Cove Café, along with the Guest Hub. It is the place to go for breakfast, lunch, ice cream, cakes, cream teas, pasties, helpful advice, and arranging holiday fun. Seals are endlessly dropping by. Continue over the clifftops and you arrive at Nanjizal, accessible only by foot and without a road in sight. At one end stands the stunning Zawn Pyg (‘Song of the Sea’) a natural rock arch that has captivated people for centuries. If the fancy took you to go on, then Sennen is around the corner.
