The cottage was exactly what was required whilst I was house hunting and getting to know the locality.

It was clean comfortable and extremely well equipped, I particularly liked the conservatory which I used a lot with the doors open creating a cool place to sit overlooking a sweet garden space and a regular visit from a little Robin

We enjoyed a peaceful and comfortable week at Trevean.

The cottage is well appointed and maintained. We had everything needed for a relaxing holiday, well equipped kitchen, comfortable furniture and the little garden was a lovely sun trap. Well placed to visit many places. We love to walk with our Labrador so being so near the coast was great. Across the bridge on the opposite side of the main road is a lovely footpath about a mile into Portreath with some good places to eat and drink. Would stay here again

I found both the bed and settees uncomfortable.

There were too many niggles to enjoy the cottage. On arrival I found the freezer door ajar and with the freezer working overtime the cupboard was very hot. I scraped all the ice out so the door could be shut and the freezer motor wouldn't burn out. I couldn't get the main over to work despite reading the manual several times. By day 5 I found out what to do by trial and error, but this was after I had managed to report the problem to Sykes. The mobile phone signal is not good so this took some time. I also tried to contact Cornish Holiday Cottages to report the problem but only got a number of options to chose which did not include reporting a problem. I later found I should have selected option 1, but this is not the advice sent by Sykes before my holiday started. When I returned to the cottage on Wednesday late pm the garden hose was spraying water everywhere. The tap had been left turned on and evidently the hose had broken under pressure. I got soaked getting to the tap to turn it off. For my whole stay the rubbish from the previous week sat outside uncollected even though the bin men had been. Even I could see that the mixed recycling bag contained general waste, as could mice or rats who had broken into the bag. When I called Sykes it took several attempts before I could get through to speak to someone. On some occasions I got a multiple choice of options assuming I was either letting or wanting to rent a cottage, the same as I got with Cornish Holiday Cottages. When I spoke to someone from Sykes they were very helpful. On the first occasion it was to report a number issues, and on the second occasion it was to report that the oven did actually work but the instructions were useless. On the plus side, time spent walking the Cornish Coast Path and Tehidy Country Park was great, but time spent in Travean was not. This is intended to give constructive feedback to make life easier for future guests. The comfort levels of the bed and settees is obviously personal and some people evidently found them good.

This our 4th stay at Trevean and we are never disappointed.

Good, quiet location and ideal for a walk into Portreath. Love the big comfy bed, Chesterfield sofas and the well equipped kitchen, we noticed a new cooker and an air fryer! We spent a very happy 2 weeks here, plenty of time spent visiting family who are based in Cornwall. We have never had any issues with our stays here and will continue to book Trevean for anymore up and coming holidays in the future (when it is available) Thank you for the cream tea, milk and tea bags- on arrival-much appreciated

There was no heating on when we arrived (Jan) so the place was cold and it took us 2hrs to get it to work.

And no cream tea as others received

We have stayed at Trevean a few times now as its in a good quiet location, handy for me as I have family who live in Cornwall, also a nice walk into Portreath where you can have lunch at the Portreath Arms.

A lovely comfy bed, a well stocked kitchen for cooking and dining, absolutely nothing to complain about. Scones, with jam and clotted cream are always a lovely welcome and the Cornish Tea Smugglers Brew T-Bags my partner has now taken a liking to! Thank you for another lovely stay!

A wonderful cottage.

Cosy, warm, clean and comfortable. The log burner was fabulous. Great to have an enclosed garden for the dog. Cottage location is great for exploring north and south coast. The cream tea was a really lovely touch.

Cottage was in a good location .

The cream tea and milk was appreciated on arrival.The dining table had a sticky film all over it and was unusable. Sofa was uncomfortable. The king size bed was very comfortable. The whole cottage needs a good deep clean . The smoke alarm was bleeding on arrival and was also noted from previous guests but hadn’t still hadn’t been sorted so we had to take the battery out.

Trevean is in a great location for everything in western Cornwall.

The cottage itself is comfortable, cosy and well equipped - we couldn't fault it. Parking was ok, you have to park on the road outside but we never had a problem getting a space, even when there was an event going on in the pub opposite. We'd definitely book again.

I stayed on my own, first week of September.

I didn't use the lounge as there is a lovely conservatory that gets the sun, where I sat to read, or watch the rain. The main bed room has a comfy bed, and bed linens are from a laundry service so spotlessly clean. I did not use the towels as I took my own. The cottage makes a great base to venture out into Cornwall and I would book again. I did have some issues, such as the toilet sometimes not flushing, the smoke detector needed batteries and was therefore beeping, and the main bedroom window does not come off the safety latch so it was impossible to get decent ventilation; the second bedroom window does open but I had to keep the door closed at night due to the beeping. Also, whilst the cottage looked very clean, closer inspection showed dust and cobwebs where furniture was not pulled out, or doors opened to clean behind. I cleaned down the sides of the cooker due to the food residue. At night there were silverfish on the kitchen work surface, which indicates damp, and I did read there had been an bathroom leak at some point. Only thing missing from equipment is an air fryer which, for a single or couple, might negate the need to use the oven. Issues reported to Sykes, and pictures are available.

We had a lovely stay in Trevean, We really appreciated the cream tea and the milk which was there for us when we arrived and also that there were teabags.

The cottage was in a good location with a 20 min or so walk along the mining trail to Portreath and the beach. The conservatory with the back garden leading off was great. We also appreciated the cupboard with games and jigsaws. Overall the accommodation could be improved by having at least a few basic food stuffs in the cupboards (e.g. salt, pepper, oil, vinegar, sugar, coffee etc) and a few more basic toiletries - e.g. liquid hand soap in the bathroom, a better supply of toilet rolls - we had to buy quite a lot of basic things that we normally wouldn't expect to.

So many issues.

I found a baking tray full of grease when looking through cupboards. The washing machine seal was black so we travelled home to do our washing as I didn't want to put my clothes in there. The front bedroom window was incredibly hard to open and the night storage heaters made the whole place SWELTERING!! Awful. It was like trying to sleep in the Sahara desert. The sofas were uncomfortable and slippery and the floor was slippery too. We put throws on sofas but they just slid off. The bathroom was not great, a shower over a bath that was not easy to get into, thank goodness we brought a bath mat or could have been quite dangerous. The whole place needs some money spent on it really. We only came as we were having work done in our bungalow in redruth which necessitated us moving out for a while so would have been nice if there hadn't been so many problems.

Lovely cottage that is perfectly located for our family.

Warm, comfortable and homely. It has everything that we needed. (Including a pumkin carving kit!) We would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a place to stay. I especially liked the welcome booklet with lots of information about what to do in the area. Fantastic, home from home. We will 100% book again.

A lovely cottage in a quiet area with a sunny garden.

It was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped for all our needs. We particularly enjoyed the vicinity of the walking trail accessible just across the main road to walk to Portreath beach in just half an hour. Thank you for this fabulous stay!

Firstly….

i spent several hours trying to contact someone regarding the cot and high chair I needed, which finally the day before I was due to departure was reassured that they was there ready waiting for us. We arrived due to traffic at 1am Friday morning extremely tired with a 6 month old baby and then had to scramble around the house to eventually find the cot which was under the bed..still needed assembling! The cot was flimsy, un-hygienic with stains all over it and there was no mattress, which is disgusting! The highchair was upstairs in a cupboard and wasn’t even a high chair…it was a flimsy seat that my child was unable to use! The house was full of dog hairs and the bathroom shelves was still dirty…windows in front room was filthy! I have 2 dogs at home and no cleaning so I know that it’s hard to keep onto but it’s a holiday home that should be spotless and hygienic, which it was not! While I am on the subject of cleaning. The cleaner of the property pulled up at 9.30am on departure day outside the house waiting for us to vacate which was very uncomfortable. The baby was asleep on the sofa as he had several unsettled nights sleep when at 10.10 the cleaning lady bursts into the house and shouts ‘are you about finished, I have a tight schedule to clean this house’!!! This extremely rude lady woke the baby up and made us feel like children. There was no need for her to be so aggressive as we was only 10 minutes late which we didn’t realise. The house is run down and in need of a little work to make it the standard that you are listing it at. The shower head kept falling to bits while showering! Tried to wash a few baby clothing items but the washing machine was full of dog hairs. Positive things are my mum said her double bed was comfortable and the location is great. And the kitchen was well equipped. I believe that the owners don’t know what’s going on with the cleaning side of it. The house isn’t even having the basics done! I paid £800 for this stay which is massively overpriced…I do want some of that refunded as this is listed well overpriced and due to our experience. I have used Sykes cottages for all of my holidays and never had a bad experience but this needs to be addressed especially if someone is taking a baby and expecting to have the basics there. I think it’s down to the company that is looking after this property as I don’t think the owners has any idea the property isn’t being looked after properly.

Could possibly do with an update. Also, I found the fridge small for 1 person so not sure how a family would cope. Other than that, it is convenient and very useable.

So much so we have booked again for next year. Highly recommend this lovely little cottage, with its comfy bed, beamed ceilings and a well stocked kitchen for all your cooking needs. 10/10

Quaint and clean.

Very well equipped. Beds were comfortable. Heating easy to control and accurate. Stairs steep and creaky, especially at the top on the landing. Kitchen provided with tea towels, wash cloths and liquid. Parking outside in the road was okay. HOWEVER, as much as we tried - we could not get the TV to work. Whatever we tried - NO SIGNAL came up on the screen. Checked all the cables and aerial connection - all seemed fine so have to assume that there is a problem with the connectivity. Pleased that there was a radio to listen to. If need be, will stay there again and trust that the problem with the TV will be sorted out.

Thank you for the lovely afternoon tea provided and the basics, milk/tea/coffee etc to get us started.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in the cottage, there was everything you could think of was supplied. Plenty of beautiful walks and places to visit in the car. We will definitely recommend!

TV wouldnt work - waited in for maintenance man next day - he went and got us a new freesat box but connection was still hit and miss all week- think the aerial cable needs replacing.

Wasnt ideal having to waste time waiting for him. Well equipped cottage otherwise and in a good position. Looking a bit tired in places but nothing in particular. Pub over road was a disappointment with no food on offer and closed half the time.

The cottage was pretty fully equipped with acceptable comfort, unfortunately, this was spoiled by poor cleanliness, and bad maintenance.

There was thick dust/ grime around door and window frames, plus accumulated dust on woodwork and, built up dog hairs on the door mat. At least one bulb and cooker hub not working. Singular, not major but added together not satisfactory when hundreds of pounds spent.

Trevean Cottage has everything you’d need for a home from home stay.

We had no trouble parking directly outside the property all week as it is on a very quiet road. The garden was nicely enclosed for our dog. Rooms are all spacious. Would definitely recommend this property as a base for exploring beautiful Cornwall.

Very well equipped with everything you would need for your stay. Very dog friendly if you are taking your furry friend with you. Lovely outside space to enjoy the sunny weather. Slight negatives, the decor could do with refreshing, downstairs flooring is showing signs of age. The positives out way the slight negatives. A lovely cosy cottage you should consider if visiting West Cornwall.

Lovely cottage , great location home from home , just a few minor issues with the cleanliness the conservatory windows where dirty you could see where someone had been playing oxo on the windows also under the sofa in the conservatory was a lot of sand from the beach, everywhere else was spotless, no mop and bucket as it said there was in the itinerary and no tin opener, there was everything else you needed.

We still enjoyed our stay.

The property was as advertised and was really comfortable.

The stairs were steep and might be a problem for older cliental but was no problem to us. Everything was provided apart from a mop and bucket and the tin opener didn't work and broke when we tried it. These were minor problems and in no way detracted from the overall pleasure of spending a week in this lovely cottage.

Absolutely beautiful cottage so homely and had everything we could have possibly needed!

Even had a feeding station for our dog! Not far from all the lovely beaches, beautiful walk from carbis bay to St ives. Throughly enjoyed out stay thank you!

This is a nice property in a nice location.

However a few things need fixing and updating Items that need fixing 1. The two left hand rings on the cooker do not work 2. The blind in the 2nd bedroom is broken and is not working Items that need updating 1. The let would benefit from a smart television rather than freeview. The current TV is old and has a background buzz and needs replacing. 2. It would also benefit from a bluetooth speaker to play music on or a smart speaker 3. The heating system and controls could do with updating, the storage heaters probably work in winter but nit when the weather is milder, the house overheated when we were there on our stay and the only way to control the heating, we could find, was to switch off the individual storage heaters

First let me say this a great little period cottage.

But when we arrived the bed was unmade and the dirty towels from the previous guests were still in the bathroom. This situation was was quickly resolved by the extremely helpful customer rep'. A cleaner was sent over with a bottle of Posecco in hand and all was resolved. However, the heat was set at 18c and was not adjustable. I complained about the lack of heating but was told it could not be changed. We were provided with free firewood but the cottage remained on the cool side unless we had the fire going which made it difficult to get our clothes dry. Great location, close to Portreath and Redruth and well equipped, but if you are going in the cooler months heat could be an issue.This was the only reason I did not give a 5 star rating.

We had a lovely few days at your cottage and hope to be back again later in the year.

Very cosy with the log burner in November. Bed was extremely comfortable. Easy, off road walk into Portreath, and lots to visit in the area.

We felt instantly at home the day we arrived.

A lovely cosy cottage. Very well equipped with everything we needed. Perfect location for exploring lots of Cornwall. Secure garden for our 17 month old Labrador. Only bad part was having to leave as I could have stayed forever! Thank you for a perfect holiday.

Trevean Cottage has everything you’d need for a home from home stay. We had no trouble parking directly outside the property all week as it is on a very quiet road. The listing online shows an open sided staircase but this has now been closed in, it is worth mentioning that the stairs are steep but there are handrails on both sides. Would definitely recommend this property as a base for exploring beautiful Cornwall.

Lovely stay.

Everything had been thought of. Comfortable and clean, and 20 minutes or less away from lots of different towns beaches and forests. My only gripe was the back garden was not fully secure for our dog. After ringing Sykes and the lady confirming it was, it was then disappointing to find it was in fact slightly open on one side to next doors garden (a low wall). We resolved this by putting the bin in front of the gap. We have a terrier so although well behaved he loves the opportunity to escape! Overall though it was a fabulous sty and the pub across the road was extremely friendly too!

We were more than happy with the lovely cottage and all equipment and arrangements.

We had a great few days visiting places, some we knew well and some we were discovering for the first time. The location was also excellent, having St Ives close by one way and Newquay the other. We will probably look to come back some day soon

A lovely, cosy, old, full of character cottage.

Really steep stairs typical of a terraced house. Ideally placed for exploring the north coast. Portreath is a really nice little place with a few pubs and eateries and a really nice beach. We felt right at home in the cottage with our dog. A lovely log burner and lots of little thoughtful touches to make you feel at home. The double bed was really comfortable too. Can’t fault the place!

Thank you so much for a most enjoyable stay. Your cottage has everything. We were SOO comfortable. (And I would like to add that I love the child locks on the upstairs windows, very easy to open wide if required for ventilation but very safe for little people)

For us, this cottage is perfect, it's quirky and rustic.

This perhaps wouldn't be everyones cup of tea. Cream tea on arrival is a nice touch, but the scones were out of date the day we arrived.

We felt it was fortunate that the weather was not especially hot, as the upstairs windows cannot be opened more than a finger`s width.

We suspected this would make the main bedroom uncomfortable in hot weather. That aside, the house was well equipped as advertised. Bizarrely, the warning in the listing about absence of TV signal is a false alarm. There is Freeview which works fine.

Great easy straightforward booking lovely cottage had everything we needed for a fantastic holiday

The cottage was very tatty and not at all comfortable.

The garden wasn’t secure for the dogs as a fence panel had blown down. This was in the comments book from previous guests but had not been rectified. The shower was not great and the sofas very uncomfortable. The whole thing needs updating. The carpets were grubby and need replacing.I Would not recommend this cottage unless it was just a place to lay you’re head , if you’re going to be out and about all day. Unfortunately the weather did not permit this for us so we chose to come home early.

Whilst the heating had been upgraded, the instructions hadn't been updated and so they weren't in synch.

We were instructed to leave rubbish outside the property for collection on Saturday when we left however on arrival we found last week's rubbish still on the pavement outside the property and later discovered that local refuse collection was on Friday.

Absolutely everything we needed and fabulous little cottage!

We had a brilliant holiday here, the cottage is nicely situated for exploring both north and south cornwall.

It is also very well equipped with everything you might need while on holiday. Only thing I found a bit difficult (as someone who has a few mobility problems) was the very steep staircase.

Lovely location,only found the tram path by accedent to get the 1 mile to the beach.

Could have had clearer info about it. Comfortable house, yard lovely for outdoor eating.

We had a very enjoyable week at the cottage.

Very comfortable, clean and cosy. Managed to get out every day disputed the wet weather. Cottage is situated in ideal location We have booked with this company before and have no complaints. Definitely use them again.

What a lovely cottage described exactly as the advert had said and with more surprises to be found when we got there!

Beautiful cottage in a lovely location, cottage had everything we needed, clean, tidy and was great for the dogs with enclosed garden.

The thoughtful things like a bottle of milk, tea, coffee and sugar left out for us on arrival and a wonderful cornish cream tea was a very welcoming touch. Can't fault it and would highly recommend a stay there.

It’s a cold cottage for winter bookings and barely a bath full of water for one person per day with the way the heating was set up.

The Kingsize mattress has serious issues so if you want a good nights sleep, avoid this until they give the cottage some much needed TLC

Lovely cottage very clean and lovely to be met with a cream tea laid out.

The bed requires a new mattress and I think the cottage should be checked during your stay as the toilet seat broke during our stay. We put it in the book assuming this would be checked and fixed sadly not.

Cottage first class, village of Bridge lovely and Portreath great.

Good walks all around area. Only negative is the parking, brochure states park infront of property, but the space infront was taken up with a work van and car all the time, so we parked our car on the gable end, in the pub car park, up the hill towards the Methodist chapel, basically anywhere we could get in, so please advise future users alternative parking arrangements.

Sykes utterly and categorically failed to support us when we dicussed the issues we encountered and took no responsibility for the cottage at all which is highly misleading.

We are now exploring our options with citizens advice and the credit card company. We will not be recommending Sykes to friends and family.

Lovely quiet location cottage cosy good base for many sight seeing places.

The property was amazing beautiful and and clean ideally located for travelling all over Cornwall the fresh cut flowers and cream tea provided where a lovely touch.

A lovely cottage in a great location to explore the surrounding area.

lots of beautiful beaches to enjoy with our dog before Easter and easy access to the town of St Ives. We all enjoyed our stay in this quant cottage.

Looking at the maintenance book there were long standing issues with the main bedroom window not opening, (it was too stuffy and hot,) a leak in the conservatory and the woodburner not drawing properly.

All three problems were still present and although they did not affect our time there, apart from the window, it would be good if they could be sorted out. Othere wise a great cottage in a good situation.
