The property

Gunnislake 2.7 miles.

This detached, Alpine lodge of Hillside is set in an elevated position within the peaceful grounds of Honicombe Manor Holiday Resort, in the Tamar Valley near Gunnislake.

Surrounded by trees rich in wildlife, this cottage offers beautifully-presented accommodation in a reverse-level style, ideal for a large family of eight.

There is an open-plan living area on the first floor, where plush sofas entice you to lounge in front of the TV with FreeSat before wandering out to the sunny balcony, where you can enjoy your favourite tipple amongst your peaceful surroundings.

When you’re feeling peckish, progress to the kitchen, where wooden fittings behold a wealth of appliances that are bound to appease any budding chef.

Once a delicious meal has been made here, it can be enjoyed at the six-seater dining table; alternatively, you can wander out to the on-site bar/restaurant for dinner, if you’re not feeling up to cooking!

When night falls, retire to one of the four delightful bedrooms inhabiting the ground floor, such as a super-king-size enjoying an en-suite shower room, a vibrant twin, and two further zip/linked twins.

Concluding the property’s interiors is a family shower room, which can also be located downstairs.

Spend some time touring the estate grounds, where a plethora of on-site facilities can be found, from seasonal swimming pools and a sauna to outdoor chess and tennis courts; you’re well-catered to here!

Just a couple of miles away is Cotehele, a National Trust house, gardens and historic quay by the River Tamar, with woodland walks and formal gardens; families will love the train along the scenic Tamar Valley line from Gunnislake to Plymouth, perhaps stopping off at Calstock viaduct en-route.

There is a donkey sanctuary along the road from this lodge, and the mining village at Morwhellam Quay, used as the location for the Edwardian Farm TV series, is also close by.

This part of Cornwall is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is a World Heritage Site for its mining history, which can be learnt of on walks throughout the Tamar Valley Mining District, exploring the Victoria Copper Mine and visiting the East Cornwall Mining History Museum.

Whatever you get up during your break in Cornwall, Hillside guarantees a delightful base for you and your loved ones to return to at the end of each day.
