“We have just spent the most wonderful week at lazy lodge, and we didn’t want to leave!”

! Arrived to a lovely welcome from hosts Christina & Shaun. The lodge was spotlessly clean throughout & comfortable. There was fresh milk, butter & jam left in the fridge + water. Some lovely biscuits, marshmallows on skewers for toasting, and a homemade loaf of bread made by Shaun (so nice). There is everything you will need in the property. Outside space is a total chill zone. Loved sitting with my morning coffee and watching the wildlife. Hot tub was so relaxing too. Location is fantastic to ...

Great advice on places to visit and links to those places. Huge thank you Shaun for the loan of the bread books and the time you gave up in making the concise videos, methods & ingredients lists for good bread. and not forgetting the demo you gave for the scorch & starter, and you giving me some of yours. made an old man happy. These guys & the lodge should be getting 10 stars if that was possible for perfect customer care…

“Second visit.”

...i thought last year was good....this year exceeded all expectations ...this is simply the PERFECT lodge....wonderful owners....so professional....caring, attentive...perfect for a exceptionally quiet, relaxing break........including sat in the wood burning health spa tub, and a barn owl flew by...followed 5 minutes later by 2 deer....... We absolutely love it at Lazy Lodge.......

“Wow..wow”

...wow In all our years of holidaying, we have never stayed in such a wonderfully perfect setting.....but now we have The pictures online do not do it justice... Shaun and Christina are amazing hosts....from being in contact before arriving, excellent communication on how to get there and even meeting us on arrival...!!!.. All week, they were so kind to us, nothing is too much trouble and looked after us like we were in the best 5 star hotel Hot tub ready on arrival, fresh bread,,jam,butter( not that we saw that thanks to our 17 year old who found it amazing) The lodge was so spacious,utterly spotless inside,top quality fittings,and even fresh flowers in the lounge!!! They've created a folder that you get with such detailed information on the local area, which helped enormously when eating out,travelling etc The patio doors open onto a large patio area with a fantastic view of the garden and pond It was perfect timing to see the butterflies bees and birds The lodge is so private,the hosts never intruded but were just wonderfully kind to us. Perfect place to get to all of Cornwall, st ives,land end,eden project but we found a gem in Portreath 2 miles away for surfing lounging and ,esp The Hub for lunch THIS will be the best lodge, by a country mile, you will ever visit.....Thank you Shaun and Christina for helping to create lifelong wonderful memories of Cornwall for our boy...

“We went for a week to chill out prior to spinal surgery and that’s just what we got.”

The Lodge is really homely, spotlessly clean and very well equipped with quality items. Christina has really thought about the extra little touches, the fresh bread, butter, jam, milk and even a box of Cornish Fairings (biscuits) and a jar of sweets to welcome you after a long journey. When baking during the week Christina even gifted us a couple of tea cakes which were so tasty, The wild garden is a joy and so appropriate for the setting. We even had a deer visit one corner of the garden. The couple are extremely good hosts, there if you need them but never intrusive which was lovely, The area itself is very pretty with nice beaches nearby. A visit to the headland at Godrevy (NT) is a must and a little bit of heaven to be cherished. Most of the touristy places are also very accessible such as St Ives, Falmouth, Penzance etc. All in all we had a wonderful, restful holiday and we can highly recommend. To Christina and Shaun, thank you so much for making us so welcome and we hope to be back soon and to see the buddleia and lilac bushes in all their glory!

“Absolutely amazing.”

From start to finish, we had the best experience ever, from the initial enquiry with Sykes to the holiday at Lazy Lodge itself. The welcome from Shaun and Christina was the best we've ever had - such lovely hosts. Nothing was too much trouble and they provided a lovely welcome pack (including fresh home baked bread, baked by Shaun - thank you, delicious!). The lodge was well equipped, very comfortable and spotlessly clean, the best we've ever had in the last 20 years of staying in Cornwall. All the little extra touches were appreciated. Whilst the owners live alongside and are available to help as required, they are in no way intrusive. We had a fabulous relaxing time at Lazy Lodge - the setting is amazing surrounded by trees, the lovely pond and wildlife (whilst we were there, we saw a fox with her cubs, ducks on the pond and even spotted the local woodpecker). The location is perfect for exploring both the North and South Cornish coasts with easy access to lots of great places. Looking forward to returning very soon. Thank you both for everything.

“The Lazy Lodge is the perfect retreat.”

Located just off the Mining Trail and within a short distance of Portreath and Porthowan, this is the perfect spot for anyone looking to take advantage of the breathtaking scenery and costal walks Cornwall is famous for. The Lodge is nestled within a large garden, which gave our two boys ample space to run around. Plus, the pond attracts lots of local wildlife which offers a great source of entertainment whilst relaxing in the wood burning hot tub. Our hosts, Christina and Shaun couldn’t do enough to make our stay as comfortable as possible- they were so accommodating, ensuring the hot tub was ready for us when we got back from a day exploring the local area. Our boys enjoy fishing and there was two local lakes that we visited during our stay- one in Portreath and another in Hayle. We would also recommend a visit to the Bassett Arms in Portreath- the food was amazing!! This has been a truly memorable holiday for our family and would highly recommend The Lazy Lodge to others.

“We were so delighted with this property; all the comforts of home and more.”

What a welcome we received! The personal touches - home made bread and biscuits, tea, coffee and milk provided. The hot tub was the icing on the cake. Christina and Shaun are the perfect hosts. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they welcome suggestions for improvement (not that they need them) If/when we return to Cornwall they will be our first port of call. Having used Sykes cottages several times before - lazy lodge is the best by far.

The property

Porthtowan 1.6 mile, Portreath 2 mile.

In the hamlet of Cambrose nestled between the beautiful beaches of Porthtowan and Portreath is this delightful lodge surrounded by countryside.

Lazy Lodge, as mentioned in Cornwall Living Magazine offers a wonderfully restful and private space yet is ideally located to explore all the gems that the North Cornwall Coast has to offer.

This cosy Lodge with two bedrooms sleeping four guests, welcomes couples, families, and friends to enjoy a relaxing escape, complete with a wood-fired hot tub, a large private garden, off-road parking and lockable bike storage.

Tucked away within an acre of private grounds Lazy Lodge is surrounded by nature, nearby streams and a large pond; you'll be able sit back and lounge on your private terrace or unwind around the garden, and then maybe a gentle game of pre-dinner boules or Garden Quoits could decide who’s doing the cooking?

It's a great place to relax with a peaceful seat overlooking the pond, read a good book on the lawn, or stargaze from the comfort of the eco-friendly hot tub whilst listening to your favourite tunes.

Inside you'll find an open-plan living area with a well-equipped kitchen that includes a gas oven, grill, and hob for home cooking.

The lovely sitting area has a flame effect fire, wall-mounted Smart TV, a Bluetooth speaker and a selection of traditional board games; a cosy space for hunkering down on those cooler nights.

In the family bathroom, freshen up before bed with a bath, shower over, and heated towel rail for enhanced comfort.

The spacious double bedroom room features an en-suite cloakroom, while the snug twin room is ideal for two little ones.

When it's time to go exploring, Lazy Lodge is a perfect place to start; within 2 miles you have the choice of two beautiful beaches, the award winning Blue Flag beach of Porthtowan or the popular sands and fishing village of Portreath. Don’t forget your push bikes because Lazy Lodge has the beautiful Coast to Coast Cycle Trail just outside the gate!

A nine mile ride south takes you to Deveron, or for a shorter two-mile route you can cycle or walk the traffic free route from the Lodge to Portreath, with plenty of lunchtime treats that await your arrival.

If a stroll around the golf course is more your cup of tee, there’s also a choice of three courses within 3 miles.

Within a short drive you can be surrounded by West Cornwall's largest area of peaceful woodland and lakes in Tehidy Woods.

Alternatively, take a stunning coastal walk exploring dramatic ruins on cliffs carpeted with heather and gorse.

You might even recognise some of Poldark’s filming locations!

Take a break from the kitchen; a mile stroll will lead you to Cornwall Gold and Tolgus Mill heritage site, where you can treat yourself to a full Cornish breakfast served on a miner’s shovel.

Porthtowan is a small village resting on west Cornwall’s beautiful coastline, renowned for its Blue Flag beach, which at low tide exposes almost a mile and a half of fine, golden sands. Fringed by impressive granite cliffs, the beach is a popular surfing venue and is lifeguarded during the summer, making it ideal for families. Porthtowan is part of the St Agnes designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and there are some wonderful walks to be found, offering vivid scenery along the South West Coast Path, whether you choose to head east to St Agnes or west to Portreath. The towns of St Ives and Penzance, with their art galleries, restaurants and quaint harbours, are half an hour’s drive away, whilst Flambards Theme Park, The Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gweek, and the Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station are just a few of the other diverse attractions scattered around this picturesque region. A great base for a varied family break.
