“As always the accommodation and facilities are great.”

The extensive grounds are ideal for the dogs. Special thanks to sue and the housekeeping team who helped manage our stay. Wasn’t our first visit and will not be our last

The property

Some cottages feel comfortable, Westhayes feels memorable..

Tucked within the peaceful surroundings of Helsbury Park in North Cornwall, this beautifully converted stone barn blends centuries of character with thoughtful modern luxury, creating a holiday home that invites you to slow down from the moment you arrive.

Sleeping six guests across three spacious en-suite bedrooms, Westhayes is wonderfully suited to families, couples travelling together and dog owners seeking a Cornwall escape that offers far more than simply somewhere to stay.

The first thing many guests notice is the atmosphere.

Character beams, warm stonework and a striking galleried staircase give Westhayes a sense of history and personality that is increasingly hard to find.Yet despite its heritage, comfort is never compromised.

The welcoming sitting room, centred around a crackling wood-burning stove, is made for slower evenings – board games after coastal adventures, glasses of wine shared late into the night and the simple pleasure of being together.

The spacious kitchen and dining area is equally inviting, fully equipped with everything needed for relaxed breakfasts, celebratory suppers and unhurried family meals.A range cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer ensure practicalities quietly take care of themselves while the holiday takes centre stage.

Upstairs, three beautifully presented bedrooms provide both comfort and privacy. Two offer elegant king-size beds, while the third flexible zip-and-link room can be arranged as either twins or a king-size, making Westhayes ideal for a variety of family and friendship groups. Each bedroom enjoys its own en-suite shower room, with an additional downstairs toilet providing extra convenience.

But Westhayes is only part of the story.

Step beyond the cottage and Helsbury Park unfolds around you.

Nearly 100 acres of private countryside invite guests to wander woodland paths, riverside walks and open pasture with spectacular views stretching towards Bodmin Moor and the Camel Valley.Whether your perfect holiday involves morning walks, wildlife spotting, peaceful corners with a book or simply space to breathe, Helsbury offers a rare sense of freedom.

And for dog owners, that freedom matters.

Westhayes welcomes up to five well-behaved dogs at no extra charge, making it a genuinely dog-friendly escape rather than one where pets merely happen to be permitted.Endless walks begin straight from the door and secure outdoor areas provide reassurance.

The shared heated indoor swimming pool, sauna and gym add another layer of indulgence, offering year-round enjoyment whatever Cornwall’s famously changeable weather decides to do.

While wonderfully secluded, Westhayes remains perfectly placed for exploring North Cornwall.Tintagel, Boscastle, Port Isaac, Bodmin Moor and the region’s spectacular coastline lie within easy reach, allowing guests to enjoy dramatic scenery and bustling villages before returning to somewhere altogether calmer.

Built alongside neighbouring Marhayes (959870) and sharing attractive front lawns while maintaining its own private seating and barbecue area, Westhayes works beautifully both as an individual retreat and as part of larger family gatherings booking both cottages together.

There is something about Westhayes that encourages people to settle in, switch off and stay a little longer.

And that, perhaps, is the greatest luxury of all.
