Fine house, wonderful place, we had a very good stay

Whilst some properties have photos that exaggerate the room size, view etc this was absolutely spot on.

Everything that we needed was on hand, the location was great for walking into St.Ives or Carbis Bay. No hesitation in recommending this.

The property description did not exagerate the faciilites Off road parking for 2 vehicles which a real bonus in the area. The two bathrooms with handheld showers is not ideal. Better fixed shower heads and curtains/screens. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

We had a lovely stay at Seafield - a perfect base to explore the area.

Good places to buy food to eat in or to eat out near by and we took the scenic train into St Ives…taxi back. Clean, modern and very comfortable property shared happily by 3 UK visitors and 3 family members from Oz. Shout out for the very comfy beds! Thank you to the owners for providing such a lovely holiday home for us to share - well done! As a slight negative - for a large house with 3 great bathrooms - to have 2 bathrooms with handheld showers was viewed as very odd by all 6 adults - 2 in their 70’s found it almost impossible to sit in baths or on bath edges to shower - so all 6 visitors ended up using the only real shower facility in the house located on the lowest floor - it was manageable but a little inconvenient for us all. However, even with the shower issue we would have readily given a 5 star review to Seafield but unfortunately on arrival the patio area was very dirty with moss on the floor and dirty furniture - bird poo and weather dirt stains (pics taken if needed) - it felt like it needed a really good power wash! Although we had some poor weather when we were staying, we did get a number of small opportunities when we would have loved to have used the great patio and take advantage of the views! However, we decided it would be a waste of our holiday time to get up to Tesco to buy cleaning products and put the marigolds on to tackle the furniture. Sitting out on your holidays is a wonderful part of the R and R you hope to enjoy….so we all felt that the cleaning team had let the owners down on this one thing and it did impact our enjoyment of a lovely home! We have removed one star because of this. Seafield was picked over two other homes in the area specifically because of its great patio area and the ability for 6 visitors to sit outside and enjoy the sea views. We could have called the owner and asked for it to be cleaned but with a 3 night stay we decided we didn’t want to waste time focussing on a negative and having to waste precious holiday time communicating back and forth - the reality is, the cleaners should take as much pride with the patio area as they clearly do indoors. Owning a holiday home myself I try to be extremely fair with reviews and get irritated by guests who remove stars for small insignificant things- scuffs on walls etc! But on arrival the patio looked and felt grubby because it had not been cleaned - that said, inside was spotless which we very much appreciated and enjoyed. We would not hesitate to stay again at Seafield and to recommend this lovely house to all considering it. Thank you for allowing us to stay.

Beautiful house with the most amazing views.

There are only a couple of things the owner could maybe improve for future guests. The main bedroom on top floor is just too warm. Could you either add air conditioning, or install mesh on the outside of the door which can be used to enable guests to leave the main door open but stop bugs getting in. Also as much as I love the view, I also like my sleep

The property was great for our 5 night stay , clean, tidy, modern , what I would say is there was no electric shaving point in any bathroom which could be helpful , plus generally around the front door area there were big weeds growing around the entrance , and the back garden could be more better maintained But generally the property was great and in fantastic location .

Loved the property Gorgeous, luxury bedding was a joy Would’ve liked foot mats in the bath, as I find it very slippy Unfortunately, previous guests have not stored away the outside cushions, which were very wet and unusable.

Wonderful.

Would return in an instant. Great light, views, location. Super clean, great layout, ideal for family of four (downstairs) and relatives (a couple) upstairs from main living area. Carbis Bay beach and railway station walkable (10 mins there 15 mins back up), St Ives also walkable (but further). Bus stop at the top of the road . Great deli, takeaway pantry/coffee shop, restaurant, pub,local shop and supermarket all walkable without going up/down a hill. Both bedrooms on the ground floor had double doors opening onto a deck/garden for ventilation/access. And were shaded by the balcony above, keeping them cool. There was no side gate to the garden which could have improved the feeling of security. The top floor bedroom with Juliet balcony and free standing bath ensuite was outstanding. A fantastic space with great sunrise views should the blinds be left open. And topping it all off, the parking and access was suitable for a low slung car.

THE DECKING FURNITURE AND CUSIONS COULD DO WITH UPDATING AND THERE WAS SOME SIGNS OF LUGAGE SCUFFS ON THE UPPER STAIRCASE WALLS, BUT OTHER THAN THAT WE HAD A LOVELY STAY THERE. EVEN THOUGH OUR DAUGHTER AND SON IN LAW COULD NOT ATTEND TO ENJOY THIS GREAT PROPERTY.

This was a beautiful property with stunning views and comfortable furniture throughout.

The amount of natural light in the house accompanied with carefully thought out decorations brought it depth and character that some holiday rentals rarely deliver on. Our family had a lovely time in this gorgeous house and enjoyed the local area too which is perfect for beach lovers and keen walkers. St Ives is a stones through away too - we mostly walked or took the local scenic train.

Beautiful stylish house, in a good location with great sea views from the balcony.

We found the property very clean and well equipped. There was lots of storage space, comfy beds and a very spacious main bedroom. We found the Wi-Fi fine in all rooms. Our only very minor comment would be too few small tumbler style glasses ( although there was plenty of wine glasses ☺️)

I was a bit disappointed that there was no Wi-Fi connection on the basement floor s d I could have had an emergency.

I called the owner but she did not answer my call .

Plates and bowls cracked or chipped on arrival no wfi on lower floor, barbecue dirty, no towel or soap in spare toilet and one of the settees on the decking has a broken back.

There was also a mark on the stair wall in the hall and one on the table in the hall. We took photos. Over all not impressed. We left the house in good order as found all bar the barbecue which we had to clean before and after we used. Please note that we did email Carbis Bay Holidays about these problems but did not receive an answer.

A lovely weeks stay at Seafield.

Accommodation was ideal for our family of 2 adults and 2 older teens. Great location and views. The balcony area was fabulous. The property had everything we needed for a weeks stay. The only comment we would make (and it’s a really small point) was that there was no guest towel in the cloakroom which would have been useful but in fortunately we had taken a spare with us.

The double bed however downstairs was too close to the wall making it very difficult to get around it. A welcome hamper would have been the icing on the cake given the price we paid for the property.

Seafield is a beautiful house, the pictures on the website really don't do it justice, especially as the living room furniture and the balcony have been upgraded.

The house had everything we needed and is beautifully decorated, the views of the beach from the upstairs bedroom and balcony are breathtaking. It is a short but steep walk down to the beach. We walked in to St Ives several times during our stay, it's about a 25 minute walk along the coastal path. Overall a fantastic property and we would definitely stay here again in the future.

The property is well appointed, clean ,tidy, well equiped and has a wonderful view.

A delightful holiday location. However, the patio table, chairs and sunshade so cleary indicated on the property details and photographs (and still are) were nowhere to be seen making the promiss of al fresco dining a let down. This clear and obvious misrepresentation was a great disappointment and tarnished what could and should have been a very pleasant stay. Perhaps Sykes HolidayCottages should pay more attention to the details.

This is an absolutely lovely house with amazing views.

The location is excellant for pubs/resturants. We really enjoyed our stay here. Only a very small niggles..this is the first time EVER we have had to provide our own toilet roll. Just a suggestion but a hand towel in the kitchen would be useful as we never dry our hands on a tea towel...an extra tea towel as well. Kitchen roll /foil/ cling film would also be handy. As I have stated these are only small critics as the kitchen on the whole is extremely well equipped. Lovely seating area outside which we where lucky enough to use as we had amazing weather. I would certainly recommend this house.

A real home from home with high quality, comfortable fixtures & fittings, in a good location with fantastic views.

Fantastic House.

The only thing that we would make people aware of is that there are no windows in bedrooms downstairs, so when it gets hot you would have to leave the doors open.

Loved the location and the house was gorgeous.

Only thing we couldnt find was a hairdryer! I went out with wet hair on more than one occasion. Apart from that we had everything we could possibly need. It would be helpful to leave directions to the beach as we ended up driving because we didnt know the shortcuts down the hill. We will definitely be back to Seafield - we all had a great stay!

Coffee machine needed descaling - indicator light on - but no descaling fluid there. Other than that nothing to report. Exceptionally nice property - one of the nicest we have stayed in. Layout spot on.

The view is amazing from the top bedroom, well exceeding our expectations, the house and decor is made to very high standards and has a contemporary high end feel, but the Seagulls screech all night and keep you awake, not the fault of the house, but an issue all over seaside resorts

The house was lovely and in a beautiful location.

Fantastic views from top bedroom and kitchen/lounge area. I found coming up from the beach exceptionally steep and feel this would not be an appropriate property for elderly or less mobile people. Facilities in the kitchen and inside of the property were as expected of this type of property. We only had one issue where the water from the sink to the waste leaked. A plumber was sent out. The property was clean and tidy throughout. We were a little disappointed that the outdoor furniture was not as shown in the photographs and there was less seating and no outdoor dining table. Having said that the weather wasn`t brilliant at the end of the week so it wasn`t a big issue. My only suggestions would be to give clearer instructions for rubbish collection days. We followed what other households did but only some of our rubbish was taken. I noticed on a previous review someone else had mentioned that the previous occupants rubbish was still there. This was possibly the same issue that we had had as the previous occupants rubbish was also piled up outside when we arrived. Perhaps they had had the same issue that we had.

We had a great holiday and the property lived up to our expectations.

It was very well equipped with high quality utensils and ppliances. The views were as stunning as outlined in the photographs. The property was overall very clean but certain small things were overlooked. For example, you could tell the remote controls had not been cleaned and the grooves in the kitchen table still had crumbs in them. This needs to be addressed, especially in this current pandemic. A couple of minor things missing were sufficient washing line pegs and a hose, since rinsing beach things under the outdoor tap just leaves water running down the stairs. Overall though, we were extremely happy with the quality of the facilities.

Considering we are in a pandemic and cleanliness is of the utmost importance, I was alarmed to get a text from the cleaner to ask that when we left, would we take the bedding off and place in the linen baskets, but to NOT remove the mattress protectors or pillow protectors!

That suggests to me that the ones we were sleeping on hadn't been changed either! Also there was clear notification that rubbish was collected on a Friday. We checked in on the Saturday and both bins were full to the brim and another black bag was placed alongside it. It should not have been our problem to put previous occupants rubbish out and have no place to put our own! There was no advice about recycling either!

Office did not reply to emails asking questions prior to the booking-letting the house owners down!

Gorgeous house very comfortable for a family Housekeeping was very responsive and helpful All home comforts-fridge a little small for a family but Tesco 4 minute walk so easily solved! We all loved every aspect

we had a wonderful time at the Seafield.

The property has got very good facilities and it is relatively close to the beach. The only down side was that the sleeping are is spread across three floors with master bedroom in the loft and two remaining bedrooms at the lower ground floor, making it a bit tricky with small children. Also, one is quite aware of the neighbors next door (permanent residents) and so from the perspective of noise made by small children it was a bit stressful. However, on balance, it is a lovely and well kept property and I would definitely go back there with my children being a bit older.

due to the government shutdown we only had 3 day out of the 7.

the double bed on the ground floor was very uncomfortable with a plastic sheet on it that made you sweat. we tried to contact Sykes but they turned off their phones and on line services. so I’ve sent them an email and still not heard from the 5 days after the email, however I’ve had 5 or 6 text to look and book a new holiday. not a good Service. A company customer service should be as good in the bad time as well as the good.

Absolutely stunning property, lovely local pub in walking distance and 20mins from st Ives bay.

Perfect destination

We found the accomadation 100% and loved everyday of our stay there,it's set in an ideal place to to explore surrounding area.

Carbis bay is a beautiful place the beach is stunning ,only had one problem the ten minute walk to get there is only for people with no walking problems at all. Sadly me and my wife are not so lucky , but it did not spoil the holiday and had a real good time.Thankyou.

We thought the house was great and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

All three generations of our family thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in Carbis Bay - we couldn't imagine a lovelier beach for young children - and Seafield was the perfect holiday house - spacious, well equipped, with wonderful sea views.

The house was very comfortable, easy to find, fantastic views and everything you could want in a home from home.

We had a fabulous holiday here in Carbis bay.

The house was stunning & it has everything provided including a fabulous view. It is well situated for St Ives either by foot, bus or train. I would highly recommend this property.
