The West Dry Accommodation

The West Dry Accommodation consists of five marvellous holiday homes resting on the outskirts of Roche, Cornwall. Formerly known as part of Great Wheal Prosper, a working clay dry, it has been converted into this fantastic collection of lettings you see today. Great Wheal Prosper started life in 1830 as a tin mine, which was subsequently converted to a brickworks and then a china clay dry; as this industry continued to flourish into the early 20th-century, the site was developed as a 'working clay dry'. In order to preserve the history for many years to come the property, now known as Carbis Wharf, was converted into holiday accommodation, which was completed in 2007. As you can see, this group of properties enjoy a great deal of history and character, whilst also boasting TVs, access to a communal utility, ample off-road parking and their own private patios. Nearby, Roche Rock, an attraction that seems like an abandoned prop from the set of the court of King Arthur, rises dramatically from the china clay terrain to the north of St Austell. When you see the destroyed fifteenth-century church that sits on its flat summit, the mystery surrounding this tall, nearly cuboidal lump of granite is considerably heightened. When it comes to your amenities, there is a convenience store in Roche village, along with a newsagents, post office, pharmacy and hairdressers, takeaways, pasty shop, butchers and a grocery. If you're looking to treat your loved ones to a meal out, The Victoria Inn can be found just outside Roche and The Bugle Inn rests, as its name suggests, in nearby Bugle; both offer hearty meals and local ale. Be sure to venture to St Austell for an outing, with its additional amenities, along with access to the shores of Duporth, Porthpean and Carlyon Bay, St Austell Brewery and the St Austell Golf Club. This wonderful, terraced holiday home of Water Wheels is located on the outskirts of Roche, Cornwall, in a restored historical building.

Water Wheels is the ideal home for a family of six, with ground-floor bedrooms and easy access to neighbouring attractions and seaside treats.

When you arrive, you'll find plenty of off-road parking where you can park up before entering the magnificent property.

The kitchen/diner includes all of the necessary facilities, such as an electric cooker and a four-slice toaster, to prepare nutritious meals for everyone at the adjacent dining table.

The lower-ground-floor living room has another table for six people, ideal for playing games, or making jigsaw.

As well as a spacious, suede sofa, TV, and 'flame effect' electric fire; this space has truly been designed with relaxation in mind!  As night falls, ascend the stairs to one of three lovely bedrooms, including: a super-king-size, a twin, or a twin with zip/link beds that can be converted to a super-king-size to accommodate your sleeping arrangements.

Both the villages of Roche and nearby Lanivet offers a small selection of shops and pubs and are situated just off the A30, six miles from Bodmin. The area is predominantly involved with agriculture and the countryside is lush, green and undulating. Perfectly placed for touring the whole of Cornwall with the wild open spaces of Bodmin Moor just six miles away and the ruggedly beautiful north coast with its rocky coves, high cliffs and outstanding surfing beaches just thirty minutes by car. The resort town of Newquay with the new Fistral Beach surf centre and the fishing village of Padstow with its narrow streets, quaint harbour and renowned restaurants should not be missed nor should the fabulous Eden Project with its spectacular biomes full of tropical plants just four miles down the road. The south coast too is just ten miles away and trips to the shipwreck centre at Charlestown, the fishing village of Mevagissey and the beautiful Roseland peninsula should not be missed.
