“On arrival the property looked nice but the pictures do make it look bigger than it is.”
It shows an outside BBQ, that’s unusable, it shows a double hammock, that’s completely broken?!
The downstairs “bedroom” was an office space at best, it wasn’t a proper bed but a sofa bed which dipped at the bottom, we had to prop it up for comfort for my 16 year old daughter and the “en-suite” was a downstairs bathroom?!
There was a LOT of spiders and cobwebs, clearly hadn’t had a deep clean in a while.
The rest of the property was ok but for how much we paid we expected more.
The hot tub ran out of chlorine after 5 days (we were there for 10!)
So all in all was a good location for where we wanted to go but I wouldn’t rush to stay there again.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. Whilst I’m pleased you enjoyed the location, I’m sorry that parts of your stay didn’t meet your expectations.
I would, however, like to clarify a few points for future guests:
The BBQ was in full working order and it was used by yourselves during your stay! The double hammock had been taken out of use after it was damaged by a previous guest and was secured while awaiting collection. Unfortunately, it wasn’t removed until the day after your departure, and I apologise if this detracted from your experience.
The downstairs room is described in the listing as a snug with a sofa bed rather than a traditional bedroom. The sofa bed is fitted with the same luxury mattress used throughout the property. Likewise, the downstairs bathroom is not described as an en-suite but as a separate bathroom located just across the hallway, complete with a walk-in shower, basin, heated towel rail and WC.
After your departure, we found that the centre support strut on the sofa bed had been moved out of position, which caused the bed to dip in the middle. Once it was returned to its correct position, the bed was perfectly comfortable again. I’m sorry this affected your daughter’s comfort during your stay.
I’m also sorry you noticed spiders and cobwebs. The property was thoroughly cleaned before your arrival and confirmed to be cobweb-free on the morning of check-in. As a converted barn set within over 75 acres of Cornish countryside, and with guests naturally enjoying the fresh air by opening doors and windows, the occasional spider or cobweb can appear surprisingly quickly despite our housekeeping team’s best efforts.
Regarding the hot tub, both I and our maintenance colleague asked during your stay whether you would like it serviced, and you declined. Had we known you had concerns about the chlorine levels, we would have been happy to replenish the tablets immediately. We also use an alkalinity reducer, which slows the rate at which the chlorine dissolves, so the two tablets provided would normally be more than sufficient for a 10-day stay in a 1,200-litre hot tub.
What I’m most disappointed by is that none of these concerns were raised with either me, our maintenance colleague, or Gold Star Property Management during your stay. Had you mentioned the sofa bed, the spiders, the cobwebs or the hot tub, we could have resolved every one of these issues very quickly, allowing you to enjoy the remainder of your holiday.
We genuinely want all of our guests to have the best possible experience, and we are always happy to help whenever something isn’t quite right. Thank you again for your feedback, and I wish you all the best for the future.
