“We have had many Caravan holidays at nearby Trevedra and know the area very well, so we were searching for a cottage in the Gwenver area.”
The cottage is 3 star, but the location is 5 star, so a definite 4 star overall.
Yes there is house across the driveway in front of Brook House, but there is still a magnificent view of Escalls Cliff (a lovely short walk away) across to Sennen Cove in the distance, from the Lounge Juliet balcony.
Upstairs is light and airy, with the large lounge & view, large double bedroom and bathroom. The lounge TV is very small, with poor sound, but has access to netflix, amazon prime, BBC iplayer, etc. Downstairs the kitchen and twin bedroom view is only onto the house opposite and the bathroom is dark, due to foliage against the window.
The kitchen is fully equipped and each room has its own elec. radiator, set by a timer/thermostat on the upstairs landing. The light on the top radiator dial is green when it’s on standby and needs to be turned clockwise until the light turns red to heat up. The downstairs bathroom heater didn’t work while we were there.
Hot water was available all the time, with a boost switch in the downstairs bathroom, but the upstairs shower is only lukewarm. There is a heated towel rail in each bathroom.
The only outside seating is in the ‘secret garden’ a little way back down the driveway, thro a gate in the hedge. It’s very small & enclosed, but well equipped with a bench table for 4, 4 deckchairs and a new barbecue.
Lots of lovely walks from the house in the area and there is a wide footpath down to Gwenver beach below. It’s gets steeper near the bottom, but is manageable. You can return the same way or up the steps from the beach.
