We would like to draw your attention to the following points.
1 The property was not adequately clean,particularly the bedhead in the main bedroom. 2 There was a very pungent smell in the main bedroom which was obviously why there was an electric air freshener fitted.The smell continued during the week and became more pungent during the evenings. it was difficult to sleep in a room with such a smell. 3 The fridge needs replacing. we were unable to put milk or open bottles in the fridge as the bottom shelf had been completely broken off. 4 The dials on the cooker were burnt and worn away which meant we had no idea of the temperature of the oven when we were using it. The kitchen needs a good overhaul. 5 Rugs, cushions chairs and the sofa were stained and grubby. 6 Very few instructions in the folder regarding where to put rubbish and if there were a collection during our stay. There was no information regarding the WIFI it took several phone calls before we were able to get it. The cottage is in an amazing spot but it needs care and attention. Perfect location on the South West coast path with stunning scenery on walks from the door.
Cove Cottage is warm, comfortable, well equipped for our needs and clean where it matters most. It has a lovely bathroom and shower room. There is always a welcome hamper when we arrive. The changeover team changed the beds and towels for our second week. Seals can be seen from the windows visiting the cove most days, occasional dolphins far out and plenty of choughs around. We have stayed 4 times and have now got used to the bare floorboards. The freezer in the basement is a bit inconvenient and the cottage is ready for some maintenance. The cafe in the cove sell excellent pasties and cornish ice cream.
Upon arrival we found a lot of (live) flies and moths in every room.
It took us the entire week to eradicate them. The cottage is reached via a winding single track road with few passing places and which also leads to the beach and cafe car park. Don’t stay here if you don’t like reversing to let cars pass. The cottage and surroundings has no phone signal but the only way to contact the property management is by phone. No email address is given. The cleaners had left crumbs in one of the bedrooms and there were dead insects behind the shutters. We had to wash the cutlery before using it. The cottage has potential, beautiful setting and nice towels but we won’t be returning due to the questionable cleanliness and inaccessibility.
