Pendower Cottage

Second stay here as the location is stunning - swimming in the cove, walking the coastal path and relaxing in the garden are all big pluses.

Lots of wildlife too. Unfortunately the owner/s seem happy to charge very high prices without responding to repeated feedback from guests as to improvements you would expect for the price point. A cheap, uncomfortable and battered sofa and a lack of comfortable garden furniture, including a parasol, let the cottage down.

We had a wonderful stay in Pendower.

The most perfect position on the coast path, we walked from the cottage every day. Lovely welcome pack and the cottage has everything for a perfect stay. We can’t wait to come back!

It was our second holiday.

First one was Corner Cottage but we loved Pendower and will be booking again for sure. But a few things would have made things better for us. The sofa is the most uncomfortable sofa we have ever encountered. It was so low and deep we could hardly use it. Also there was no outdoor umbrella for the table which would have been brilliant. A bbq would have been nice and a filter coffee machine because the coffee gets so cold so quickly in a cafetière, I don’t think you need a pod machine because after 10am you can buy delicious coffee from the amazing cafe. Also there were no condiments like salt and pepper etc so we had to buy everything on day 2. No foil or cling film. These are just small things. The overall holiday and Pendower was totally fantastic and wonderful, thank you,

Everything clean and tidy. Cannot wait to return.

We stayed during storm ‘Bram’ and it was breathtaking to watch the huge waves breaking on the cliffs from the cosy comfort of the cottage.

Seals had even taken shelter outside the back door! As ever we enjoyed a wonderful stay and the cottage had undergone a deep clean and some redecoration previous to our stay, which was very much appreciated. The Christmas tree looked fantastic and added to the pre-Christmas feel. We look forward to returning again very soon.

Really generous accommodation for two in a totally unique location commanding views of the whole of Porthgwarra.

The recent reconstruction has produced an excellent holiday home with many facilities.

Only things that let it down were the uncomfortable sofa and it would have been nice to have cushiobs abd an umberella for the outside chairs and table

We stated at Pendower Cottage last year and loved it so much, we booked again this year.

I do feel that last year's experience was better as there seemed to be a dedicated contact for the St Aubyn Estates properties. This year, we couldn't get access to the television for the first three nights as the account was locked to an individual and we didn't have the password. I tried making contact but it was three days before I received a response giving me a username and password that did not work. Whilst the location of the property is wonderful with stunning sea views from the rear and easy access to the SW Coast Path, there are some things that could now be improved: the sofa is hideously uncomfortable, so much so that I sat in the little chair and my husband the floor in the evenings. It would be really useful to have a proper vacuum cleaner of some description rather than just a broom and dustpan. There is a handheld vacuum cleaner which didnt work last year abd hasnt improved this year. It just moves dirt around rather than picking it up. Finally, we were blessed with good weather but the garden furniture is very uncomfortable with no cushions to help backs and bottoms! We were going to re-book Pendower Cottage next year but the price has increased since last year by nearly £300 and I feel that £1301 is overpriced fir that property so we've opted to book Corner Cottage instead at literally half the price for the week!

Another very enjoyable stay, weather quite stormy, but the cottage was clean, cozy & comfortable.

Walks along the coast in all directions spotting seals & seabirds (Chough included). Sennen market on a Tuesday morning is a must. Had the most amazing lunch at The Logan Rock Inn- Delicious. We cant wait to return. Many thanks.

A gorgeous cottage in a stunning location - already booked again!

I loved the welcome hamper and the layout of the cottage. The cove is great for swimming and seal watching, and you can walk for miles in either direction. Everything you could need is provided, but there are a few points I would point out to make the cottage even better. Firstly, the sofa is tired and doesn't match the quality of the rest of the cottage nor the price point. Also, some comfy garden chairs and a parasol would be a great addition. Finally, a warning that people can suddenly appear on the path right alongside the back garden would have been useful as it is not as private as it appears! Overall a brilliant place to stay, highly recommended!

An impromptu stay this time (last minute cancellation).

Blessed with the best weather. Many a wonderful walk in all directions. Saw 15 chough in one morning and 8 Red Kites over the garden! The cottage was clean, tidy and comfortable. It was great to see the cafe open again and run by a lovely local family, we wish them every success.

Another relaxing stay at Pendower.

Since our last visit the property was cleaner and the Wi-Fi marginally better (but not up to the speed we enjoyed July/Sep/Dec 2024). The cafe was still closed and bins full. Pendower is a wonderful base for exploring the local area and has all the amenities required for a comfortable stay.

Wir waren zum zweiten Mal im Pendower Cottage und haben unseren Aufenthalt insgesamt wieder sehr genossen.

Die Lage ist fantastisch, tolle Parkmöglichkeit, Auflademöglichkeit eines E-Autos, die Ausstattung der Küche ist super und alles ist top sauber. Ein bisschen Mühe hatten wir auch dieses Mal mit den Sitzgelegenheiten im Wohnbereich, insbesondere mit dem sehr weichen und für uns unbequemen Sofa. Leider ist auch nur ein größerer Sessel vorhanden. Doch der Blick lassen das vergessen.

Pendower is such a beautiful cottage, in a fantastic location right on the coastal path with sea views from most of the windows and a gorgeous garden.

Porthgwarra is a beautiful cove that isn't too overcrowded - it's especially peaceful in the evenings. The cottage is well-equipped, with a great wood burner, big comfy bed and smart TV with all the apps. A small suggestion for improvement would be being a bit more generous with basic supplies for the week like toilet roll, dishwasher tabs, kitchen roll etc - we had to pop out and buy more. Also we couldn't find an oven glove. But overall a truly fantastic stay, highly recommend!

Lovely cottage in an amazing location.

Very quiet and peaceful. The cottage was very well equipped and clean. We loved the welcome hamper on arrival, full of local Cornish goodies.

Amazing week re-discovering Cornwall & in particular this beautiful area.

The weather has been kind to us & we've had some fantastic walks along the coastal paths. The cottage has been a brilliant base, a home from home. We had everything we needed to make our stay super comfortable. Highlights have been seeing the seals playing the coves, & our little friend the Robin hopping on to the table when we sat outside with a cuppa! We will most definitely be back, many thanks.

This is our fourth stay and we were blessed with glorious weather.

However, whilst prices have increased we have noticed a deterioration in standards over the period of our four visits. Namely, the property could do with a deep clean. The WI-FI was terrible, apparently this is a known issue and needs to be fixed especially as there is no phone signal. We were disappointed that the Cove Cafe was not open at all. Hence the bins being full to overflowing soon to attract vermin. We are sure this can all be easily remedied and has not detracted us from booking again.

On the second day of our stay I contacted Cornish Changeovers to alert them to various issues with the cottage - most importantly the noise from the building site opposite and the coldness of the cottage on arrival.

I sent them a detailed email and forwarded a copy to Cornish Cottage Holidays. Since our return I have tried to contact Cornish Cottage holidays (holding on the phone for several hours). I received a call back from Sykes holidays (Emma) and she promised to get back to me in 24/48 hours. Still heard nothing back. As a client (who used to run my own holiday cottages) the most important thing is to have one point of contact who can respond - not 4 different organisations as in this case. I am still awaiting a response to my email of 3rd February. Pendower Cottage is in a fabulous position (the reason we selected it) and generally the cottage is lovely but was let down by the issues I outlined in my email and my conversations with Cornish Changeovers and Emma of Sykes Holidays. We would hopefully wish to return to the cottage in the future to enjoy the peace and warmth we were expecting. I look forward to some response from one of the operators.

Excellent accommodation ruined by building site next door - no mention of this when booking.

90% of Monday to Friday daylight hours filled with banging, skip-filling, booming radio, and loud banter.

We have always rated St Aubyns and facilities at Pendower very highly but this time we was very disappointed.

We arrived on 22 December until 29th December. On the day of arrival we had no internet working next morning we reported this to Sykes and Cornwall 24 he team to be told they would urgently look into this for us as we had no other contact with video calls to family abroad . We was also told that there had been previous problems with internet there. 4 other calls where made middle of week to try and get some help out during our holiday. We are quite elderly and had no phone signals or internet to be able to contact anybody. Sykes have said they are waiting the property owner to respond still no response. I do feel this is very poor of St Aubyns when we have been coming to their cottages over 20 years . This certainty spoilt our Christmas also paying a very high price expecting everything working

Lovely accommodation in a great location - BUT the induction hob was faulty making cooking meals (miles from anywhere) very difficult and frustrating - we wasted so much time reading the instructions thinking it was our problem!

However, an engineer arrived at the property without warning at 8am the morning we were leaving with a replacement hob. WHY weren’t we warned about the fault in advance of our arrival?! This spoiled our system our stay.

We loved Pendower that much we have booked again for Christmas!

What a special well designed property from the his and hers showers to the itec cooker . The view from the lounge/bedroom Spectacular. Watching the seals play in the waves just outside our door . A very memorable holiday hopefully many more .!! Marina.

I would give 5 stars except for the very uncomfortable sofa in the lounge area. I would also suggest a few more plates and bowls for the kitchen - only 4 of each type.

We loved everything about Pendower cottage…so much so that as soon as we got home we booked it again for later in the year!

Perfect situation overlooking the sea, stunning views, lovely garden, extremely clean, bright and airy property, very tasteful decor, a fully equipped kitchen and the most comfy bed and pillows. The fresh flowers and welcome hamper were very much appreciated - thank you.

Hi we stayed in Porthgwarra before which is a delight and the new property is a great place to stay to enjoy walking to all the beaches and enjoying the garden with the cafe opposite.

Beautiful cottage situated in a stunning part of Cornwall.

Sea views and handy access to the coastal path. We really enjoyed the garden for watching the tide and looking out for boats and wildlife. Pendower Cottage is fully equipped with everything needed and has been carefully designed with modern facilities. Our warm welcome from Bex and the team was lovely and thoughtful. The cottage is lovely and the view's amazing. The wildlife is great - a chough flew overhead whilst standing in the garden and we've seen seals bobbing in and out of the sea. The coastline is fabulous - we've had some lovely walks along the coast path - dipping down on to cove and the beaches. We'll definitely be back to Cornwall, it is a gem and we'll be recommending Pendower Cottage to friends and family Thanks so much to Bex and the team for a lovely stay :) Elizabeth, Andy and Pepper. Pendower Cottage has got to be one of the best-situated holiday homes in the country.

It is impossible not to feel relaxed and uplifted simply by looking out of the window! Inside, careful attention has been given to furnishings and kitchen equipment with a view to fostering a feeling of stylish luxury as well as practicality. Eg the mattress! I checked under the sheet for the name! We’re getting one!! With this embarrassment of riches, it’s perhaps not surprising that minor issues become irksome: the impressive-looking hob arrangement was awkward to use and rather ‘style-over-content’; the lack of a microwave was a surprise; the good-looking sofa was VERY low and could have been more comfortable; the attractive lighting in the sitting-room was somewhat harsh when in use. Having said all that, staying in Pendower was an overwhelmingly positive experience and one that we would happily repeat. Just don’t change the mattress!

We've walked this coast path many times and it's been a dream to stay here and it didn't disappoint! Fabulous walks and beaches. Lovely to see all the seals. The cottage has everything you could wish or. We hope to be back

A lovely stay at the cottage spent staring at the sea, napping, staring at the sea some more, napping again and enjoying lots of delicious food from the café*, hamper and around!

Had a nice time in St Ives on some rainier days (great exhibitions currently in the Tate and St Ives Artists Club). Highly recommend 'Marine Discovery' catamaran from Penzance harbour - a lovely way to see the sea and in our case, bottlenose dolphins, birdlife and seals. Lamorna Pottery also good for a rainy day - very relaxed pottery session and lovely food (huge portions!) in the café. So nice to spend time here and we feel very relaxed, with lots of busyness back at home. Top entertainment from the seals in the cove on the last night! *TOP RECCOMENDATIONS- - steak pasty, cheese pasty, - Hevva cake, - Any Moomaid ice cream!

A very special place.

We sit on a silver sea! Pendower is a special island. Comfortable, snug, open, close to everything. It is clean and convenient. Our hosts really look after this place and think of everything. We felt special. At a special place.
