We booked Carne Mill for a week in Feb as it was our 50th, and our Son's 25th, wedding anniversaries, our daughter & son-in-law also joined us. We travelled down through Storm Dennis which was interesting to say the least, especially crossing Dartmoor! 30mins before arriving we received a call from Pippa telling us that the storm had brought down the power lines to the house. Pippa was most concerned and was working frantically to get things sorted. We stopped off & bought some candles & when we arrived, at dusk, found the housekeeper, local electrician & the Electricity board all working hard to sort the problem.
Not to be deterred we settled down to a romantic candle-lit evening of wine cheese & crackers and retired for the night. :-)
The Electricity board worked through the night & power was restored by the following morning.
What a delight Carne Mill turned out to be. The accommodation was spacious and of the highest standard. The kitchen had everything you could need & the bedrooms were a delight. Getting up in the morning & looking out over Gillan Creek was so restful and we did several walks straight from the house. The two swans in the creek would come over whenever we went outside and would happily take food from your hand. Right at the edge of Gillan creek, Carne Mill is perfectly placed for visiting the whole of the lizard. We enjoyed walking at the coast path from Kynance Cove, Church Cove and Helford & watching the breakers crashing at Mulion.
We would thoroughly recommend this property.
