Nestled just outside of St Austell on the beautiful south coast of Cornwall is ‘Robin Hill’, a delightful detached bungalow with sea views.
Perfect for a family retreat or couples get away to the Cornish Riviera, this homely base is set within walking distance of several beaches, with Duporth and Porthpean being little further than the end of the road (0.6 miles), if sailing or golf are for you, there is a sailing club on Porthpean beach and Robin Hill is across the road and adjacent to the golf course, a little further afield rests the famous Eden Project, making this a fabulous touring base.
Well-furnished throughout, step inside and enjoy an evening of relaxation in either of the sitting rooms, one boasting a vibrant décor whilst the drawing room offers a sophisticated setting with original oak panelling and coal-effect electric heater for a cosy retreat.
Allow the chef of the group to get acquainted in the kitchen, making use of the range of appliances on offer to produce a hearty, home-cooked meal, while the adjoining dining room offers a sociable space to sit and enjoy these meals.
Carry the conversion into the conservatory or outside where an arrangement of furniture offers a spot to enjoy drinks or alfresco dining.
As the evening comes to a close, settle down in one of the three spacious bedrooms; the master offering a double with en-suite shower room, while there is another double and a twin to pick from, each finished with quality furnishings and crisp cotton bed linen.
This property is family friendly and each bedroom is able to accommodate a travel cot, so you can make your own configuration, a travel cot and high chair can be provided.

Amazing place to stay, was pleasantly surprised.
Very comfy beds, very good quality appliances and kitchen wear. Views from one of the front living rooms is amazing, looks out to sea and the coast line. It's about a 10 minute walk down hill to the nearest beach, the beach is nice in a cove so protected from the weather. It is one of the first properties that my family have said we would return to.

We stayed for a week at Robin Hill in mid August and had a wonderful holiday.
Duporth beach is fantastic - never too busy, clear and calm water, sand and beautiful stones. And dog-friendly too! Charlestown has such a lovely feel to it. There was live music in the harbour and really great food. Robin Hill itself is such a calming but homely house. Plenty of space and well equipped. Super comfy beds, lovely bedding and towels, lots of storage space. A real home away from home! We’ll definitely be back.

We have had the most amazing week at Robin Hill.
An absolutely gorgeous bungalow with fantastic sea views. The bungalow is spacious with a very well equipped kitchen (one of the best we have stayed in). Communication with the owners was so easy. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Robin Hill is a perfect base for the local attractions, namely Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project. The local beach (at the end of the road) was lovely, clean with toilets and a good food hut). Thank you again for an amazing stay.

Absolutely beautiful bungalow.
So peaceful and quiet. Met some of the neighbours during our time there and they were so lovely and said to pop in if there was anything we needed during our stay. Everything you could ever need in the bungalow. Our dogs enjoyed sniffing around the stunning garden. The only downside was having to take the dog 'poop' bags down to a Council bin down the road. It wasn't far to go but it was always full while we were there. Other than that slight inconvenience it was a perfect stay and we would certainly love to visit again.

We love Robin Hill and this is the second time staying here.
Mark has been very helpful with a couple of things. Just a couple of things I would like to add, could there be a hook for dressing gowns in the en-suite room? The other is to make sure there are bags for the food recycling bin. Mark offered to bring some over but I bought some myself plus an extra bin bag would be useful, we were a family of 6 with a dog who cooked at home so we had plenty of rubbish. The new bin collection was much better than before as well which was appreciated.

We’ve just got back from a lovely week at Robin Hill.
The house is one of the cleanest and well maintained houses we’ve stayed in. It has everything you need and the owners are incredibly well organised, giving you all the information you need for a perfect stay. Also couldn’t ask for a better location, close to shops and amenities but also only a walk to Charlestown, what more could you want!

Excellent location, views of the sea and short walk to two beaches.
Plenty of space to enable people to spread out and a lovely garden to enjoy. All local places of interest just a short drive away. The boat house at Charlestown, reasonable prices and child friendly.

Beautiful bungalow in a superb location, very clean and well equipped.
All the beds are very comfortable. The view of the sea from the sitting room is amazing. Conservatory is a real suntrap. Gorgeous gardens all around the property. Lovely touch in the welcome bottle of Prosecco Lots of interesting and varied dog walks straight from the door, and a beach a 10 minute walk in either direction via the coastal path, although like everywhere in Cornwall, you are either walking up or down. Robin Hill is a beautiful property and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

Wasn't a very good start to the holiday when your check in is at 4pm and the home owners don't leave till 450pm.
Yes they left wine and choc to apologise it just felt it wasn't good enough. Curtains in the front room didn't close together and it was always light in there. Was so looking forward to this stay but the cleanliness was definitely not up to scratch. Couldn't use the ensuite shower and the door kept getting stuck when you was inside and also the water kept getting hot and cold so was unusable.. we were so disappointed in this stay
I am sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your stay. - As explained when we met, just before your arrival, an extractor fan made a grinding noise, and so I decided to replace it immediately, rather than having a tradesman need to come in during your stay. - Therefore, when you arrived, you could use the bedrooms, bathrooms, lounges, etc., but the front hall required a final vacuum, and the kitchen sink needed polishing. This process took 25 minutes, while we chatted and exchanged travel tips. - Throughout your stay, we exchanged several emails in which you expressed satisfaction and gratitude for the complimentary bottles of fizz and chocolates, as well as the late check-out we arranged for you as an apology. - We have consistently received excellent guest reviews regarding cleanliness, so your 1 out of 4 rating was extremely disappointing and surprising. As the first guests of the season, you slept on new bedding in a house where the sofas and carpets were freshly shampooed, and all kitchen appliances & cupboards and the wardrobes had been thoroughly cleaned inside and out. - At no point during your stay did you mention having any issues. The guests staying after you did not experience any problems and gave a 5* review. Because your review was the first mention of any problems, I visited the house to double-check the issues and could not find anything wrong. - I am sorry that you didn't agree with our decision to stay and swap the extractor fan, rather than a tradesman replacing it later in the week, and that this delayed the start of your holiday.
A really lovely bungalow in an ideal location.
The back garden is fabulous for evening relaxing with the gorgeous lighting! The property is furnished with everything one needs for a short stay. Perfect for a family with older children as it has two living rooms both with tv!

Very comfortable, clean and well equipped holiday home.
Back and front gardens are very well maintained and fully enclosed, our little dog especially loved exploring the large front garden. Information before and communication during our holiday was first rate thank you Mark and Karen. We had a lovely week at Robin Hill and would highly recommend this property.

Everything about Robin Hill was first class.
The rooms were well appointed and spacious. It was probably the best equipped accommodation we have ever stayed in, everything had been thought of. The cleanliness on arrival was excellent. The bottle of Prosecco in the ice bucket was a nice touch. There was ample parking for our 2 cars. The walk to the beach, although not a long one was very steep. However there is a car park there if walking is a problem. The walk into Charlestown took 20 minutes and again the return is up hill. All in all an excellent holiday property!

Well equipped, spacious and well positioned for the beach, coastal path to Charlestown, Carlyon Bay and going the other way Porthpean beach & Pentewan and good access to main A39 and all other tourist destinations in Cornwall. Lovely self contained gardens. Home from home.

The bungalow is spacious, clean, beautifully furnished and well equipped. Perfect location too, only a minutes walk to join the coastal path or enjoy Porthpean beach. The owners were very friendly and helpful.

An amazing property in a fantastic location, would highly recommend.
Close walk, 3/4 minutes to two lovely small beaches perfect for families. Coastal path walks to Pentewan and mevagissey and the other direction to Carlyon, Par and Fowey. Ten minute walk into the beautiful harbour at Charlestown and half an hour into st Austell to the lovely brewery and railway station. Close to three major supermarkets and takeaways , if not eating out, but there are some great pub’s and restaurants in Charlestown harbour, perfect place to stay. Robin Hill we will be back ! The owners were also very accommodating with an issue we had prior to travel, can’t thank them enough in helping us out.

We had a lovely week at Robin Hill.
We found the bungalow very nicely decorated and furnished with a lovely garden and kitchen well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Very comfortable beds although a little small but we are use to King size. This is a very quiet area, close to a small beach but we also enjoyed a day out somewhere different every day. Healey’s Cyder farm well worth a visit. It was still a bit cold whilst we was away and the heating is controlled by the owner, however a quick email was all that was needed to make it warmer. Will definitely be returning

Lovely house, great location

Our 2nd time visiting Robin Hill and we absolutely love it here.
The cottage is perfect and has everything you need. There is plenty of space for our two kids (age 12 and 16) and our two dogs who are also very happy here. The beach is lovely , great for swimming ! plenty of walks. We visited the nearby Eden Project this year and the Adrenalin quarry, both great. Hopefully we will make it our 3rd time visiting next year, we are just deciding if we prefer it not as busy in October or wiling to brave the busier summer holidays! Either way the location and property is wonderful !

When we walked in the cottage we were blown away it looked beautiful.
The kitchen, dining room, and lounges especially the bay window overlooking the bay. As the weather changed and we found that the bathroom and on suit were damp the radiators did not come on and we had trouble drying towels and the loo rolls were always damp. We now realise we could have emailed the owner but they were on holiday in Mexico. I went to hoover the cottage and it didn’t pick up anything we took the head apart and it was completely blocked, hair and dirt and fluff. I cleaned it out and it worked perfectly. Perhaps the next people in the cottage got a cleaner one than we did. The other problem was the sensors that activated the lights in the hall and dining room we found a nuisance..
Thank you for your feedback Alan. I checked the heating app for what had happened during your stay and it showed that the temperatures were not cold enough to trigger the heating to turn on and hence the towel radiators did not heat up. I will manually force the towel radiators to turn on each morning and evening next spring/autumn if we have similar damp, but warmish weather. As you say it is a real shame you did not call or email us, as we installed app-controlled heating so that we can adjust it remotely. For example the people in last week requested that all of the rooms were cooler, especially their toddlers room, which I could easily do for them, and then reset for the next week. I mentioned we were flying to Mexico for our Silver anniversary at the time of your check-in, but aside from when I was on the plane, I can assure you I would have received email and phone calls. In fact as a business owner, I was up at 4am each morning to catch up with the UK, and if I hadn't answered my son would have. PS Sorry that the Dyson had been broken and blocked by a previous guest. We fixed it once we saw your review - Rest assured, our house-keeper uses their own vacuum, but sadly that meant that she didn't see the house one was broken.
Robin Hill is a great house with lots of spaces.
( two sitting rooms ) And a large enclosed garden. But I do feel parts need updating, especially both bathrooms and areas of flooring .

The bungalow was ideal for two couples and their dogs to enjoy a really comfortable stay in a brilliant location.
The property is extremely well equipped with everything that you would find in your own home and more. The views from the lounge window down to the bay are mesmerising. Al in all a 10 fro us all.

The water was not correct for four adults they would have to use the electric shower in the on sweet and could have done with higher seating in family room .
was cold two nights needed heating on for a hour just to take chill off .the cooking facility were great conservatory was brill and dog facility were great and we loved the two rooms for watching tv the dog beachs were great .

I have adjusted the hot water settings to ensure that there is plenty of hot water in the late mornings and I'm glad that the remote control of the heating enabled me to increase the heating for the rest of your stay. Well equipped, clean and comfy. We all felt really at home . Our kids loved it . Thank you for leaving the pumpkin this went down a treat with our youngest . We managed to have a nice October sea swim which was refreshing , Porthpean beach is perfect for water sports . Would love to come back in a warmer part of the year . Definitely recommend!!

Lovely place to stay with coastal views.
Beautiful hydrangeas in the garden too. A lovely spot and a very comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay and made full use of the facilities. Great family lounge as well as designated dining room and other lounge also. Would definitely recommend.

Plenty of comfortable living space for 6 adults. In a perfect location, very close to 2 lovely beaches. If you wanted a holiday in a quiet, relaxing location you couldn't ask for anything more. With lots of amenities close by, if you need them. Absolutely fantastic holiday.

Host was very helpful and the house is in a beautiful location.
A lovely holiday was had in St Austell.
The fairly steep location of the cottage did not allow us to walk safely with children and dogs down to the beach. It’s a narrow, windy road with lots of through traffic. A car is a must. Porthpean beach was nice and very safe; however the water activity hut opened once during our 7 day stay and we never saw the cafe open which was disappointing. . Porthpewan Beach was really nice and the activities there were fab! The cottage itself allows easy access with a car to many other places. It was a good size and the bedrooms were all comfortable. Lots of home from home items making it easy to self cater. A refurb has been carried out to modernise the cottage but only to part of it, meaning it’s a little dated in parts. The garden was well kept and allowed a great outdoor space for the children.
A wonderful house in a perfect location.
The house is in Porthpean, which is away from the main tourist spots and so even in July it was relatively quiet and peaceful. The house itself is spacious and comfortable. Just perfect for an old fashioned family holiday.
