Wharfside

Nothing negative to say at all.

Place was perfect for a family of 4. Lovely, modern, comfortable & spacious feel with everything that you need. Location was perfect, instructions for everything were clear and helpful. Will definitely be coming back in the future and reccomending to friends and family.

Holiday accommodation was absolutely perfect, everything you need, very good quality and very comfortable.

We were informed the lifts up to the apartment were due to be fixed in the next couple of weeks. However, the instructions for finding the accommodation once you’ve parked your car could be made clearer! They should tell you to walk back down the hill, turn left and when you find the Iceland store use the stairs opposite to go to the apartment. There is an escalator for the middle section of stairs otherwise there’s three separate staircases.

Thank you for welcome items such a lovely surprise felt at home such comfortable accommodation absolutely perfect in every way view s wonderful hopefully we ll be booking again soon Chris and Rex

I have given a five‑star rating because the property is great, and we have no complaints about the property itself.

It is fitted to a very high standard. However, I do have some issues. The maintenance of Wharfeside Village is poor. It appears the lifts have not been working for months. The PIN‑code pad for the rear gate was damaged and did not work. I realise that these issues are out of the owner’s control. However, aside from the chaos that is the current Penzance road system, I do have issues with the directions given to the property. I think simply giving directions to the front of the Wharfeside Shopping Centre and then including the plan of the complex, which is inside the property, would have been more helpful. Aside from these niggles, we had an enjoyable stay in great accommodation.

We cannot fault the layout or furnishings of the apartment.

A good view, if you ignore the unsightly surrounding properties. It is close to the harbour with plenty of places to eat nearby. Try not to be put off by the poorly maintained and painted car park and be aware of two flights of stairs up to the Village. The lift to the second floor was not working when we arrived.

31 Wharfside is a lovely, clean modern house.

Good quality fixtures and fittings (Bosch appliances). Tea, coffee milk , cream, scones, biscuits, apple juice and crisps and nuts as a welcome. Nowhere I’ve stayed leaves such a generous welcome hamper. Beds were comfortable and plenty of hangars provided. All the items were of a good quality. Great location close to train and bus station and plenty of restaurant and take away choice close by. The one thing that would improve the ‘ambience would be another 1 or 2 table lamps in the lounge/kitchen area. There is no under cabinet lighting, only the extractor hood light and one standard lamp. The ceiling downlighters in the kitchen/lounge areas have been have been over calculated for the size of the area and the light is cold and very bright. It’s like being in a dentists when they are on! So a couple of table lamps would improve the feel. The house was clean. I stay in rentals pretty frequently with various companies. I always take wipes and cleaning items as so many places are nowhere near as good as they look,or as clean. I didn’t need to crack open my cleaning items at Wharfside! Very clean. As a note to anyone who is booking for 2026, the lifts mentioned are out of order, and have been for several months. The steps to get to 31 Wharfside are steep, 2 flights. If you have any mobility concerns this will be a challenge and even if you don’t it makes it hard work unloading the car. We had no heating for a couple of days due to a boiler fault which was attended to and the engineer showed us how to override the system to make it work temporarily. And we were also given an incorrect PIN for the gate to the property. Had we arrived late this would have been an issue as the security staff leave after 7pm. I would book 31 Wharfside in the future (when the lifts are replaced) as it’s a great property in a great location and the owner seems to really understand just how a holiday let should be stocked and furnished.

This is a beautifully presented, modern house with lots of space.

I was shocked when I walked in at how new it actually was. The owners have really gone to a lot of effort to include quality appliances and features inside. There is a lot of attention gone into the detailm There a very minor things I would improve such as bigger sinks in the bathrooms ( as I couldn't get my head over them ) and also a more comfortable/firmer bed in the main bedroom but that was the only thing I could think of to say. There really isn't much to improve on here Outside there is an amazing balcony overlooking the sea. The balcony is shared with the two properties either side ,each having their own divided section. The other properties were empty when I stayed so I was lucky to have the whole outside to myself. Access getting in and out of the private complex can be a little tricky for some, but there is an allocated car park space at the rear of the building which is handy. Finding this wasn't straight forward from Sykes email so I think improving the clarity of the overall check in procedure from Sykes is needed. One downside of the facilities outside is the lift stops working after 7pm so you have to take a set of stairs which can be challenging for the less mobile. The property management company seem to have really been naughty with not upgrading the lift for residents because there should just be a card or code for the lift so residents can use it 24/7 like at a hotel. It is very bad that residents have to walk up the stairs ,sometimes with bikes and shopping just because the lift hasn't been adapted or replaced after many years of it being there. This is obviously something that is out of Sykes hands but the residents should be pushing the building owners for this as it's a massive oversight by the builders. The lift is the only real issue I found with my whole stay but even that doesn't take anything away from the amazing location and property. I have already booked this again for Dec as it is incredible value for money and it's hard to find a place this modern and well equipped/comfortable inside.

Lovely view from the balcony everything you could think of was there.

Everything around you.

Lovely accommodation, perfectly situated for exploring Cornwall.

Very clean and comfortable. Good facilities and amenities.

The flat was great, it had everything in it and we loved the two upstairs bathrooms!

Location was really good with shops, restaurants and the train station only very short walks away. The only thing that should be improved is the information about the codes needed to open the gate after hours - after hours meaning 7 pm to 7 am. We found it by accident in the folder in the drawer of the desk downstairs, luckily before we went out for dinner. A notice near the door to the flat would be helpful.

Enjoyed our stay at the Wharfside and have booked another week in July.

The house is spotlessly clean and well fitted out. Beds are comfy and the view is great. Would have give 5 stars but for the sofa and armchairs. So uncomfortable and really need changing.

Would not recommend this accommodation.

We had problems with the shower…..problems with builders in surrounding empty properties being refurbished and constant drilling!!! Complained to Sykes Customer Services about everything no help or response about noise pollution or solution to the shower! The bathroom sinks were also way to small to even brush your teeth in let alone have a wash without completely socking the floors walls and under cupboard. I mist definitely would not recommend and I expect a response!!!

We had a lovely stay at Wharfside in Penzance.

The location is excellent – within walking distance of all amenities and with easy access to Land’s End and St. Edmund’s Point. The property itself was very clean and well-kept, with a beautiful view of the harbour from both the back and the bedroom. A lovely touch from the owner was the welcome treat of scones and cream, which made us feel very welcome. The only downside was that the bathroom sinks are extremely small, which makes brushing your teeth and washing your hands a bit awkward – you also need to be careful not to bump your head on the cabinet above. Be mindful that after 7 pm there is no lift access and the property is only accessible from the back. Also, note that most places nearby close early. Despite these small issues, I would still give it 9/10 and definitely recommend staying here.
