Constantine Bay Cottage

We really enjoyed our stay!

What sells this is the location! Just steps from the beach and beautiful walks to seven bays in the area! The outdoor shower was a blessing! Very comfortable sofa and beds and everything you need. Some recommendations would be ensure the maintenance is up to scratch and declutter the kitchen cupboards with less plates bowls etc to allow room for food storage or just at a tall slim dresser for these items.

The accomodation is in a great location, close to the beach.

No views, but we knew that. The double bed is incredibly uncomfortable. Having read previous reviews that, complained about this, I thought it would have been resolved, but no. Very hard, old mattress that was larger than the two divans, that form the base. To ensure the the matress didn't overhang their was a gap in tbe middle about 5-6 inches where the matress is unsupported. This didn't make for a relaxing nights sleep and I could see no point in contacting the owner as this feedback has already been given in other reviews. None of the headboards in the twin room, were attached which isnt particularlysafe for children. In the kitchen, everything worked, however the small cupboards were choc full of plates, pots, glasses etc. The issue is that there is not even a single, small cupboard to store food. I would suggest the owner needs to reduce some of the stuff in the cupboards to help with this. It's the location that sells this place, the parking worked well with an additional visitors space available.

The location of Constantine Bay Cottage is great; beautiful beach/coastline, YHA good for meals, close to Padstow, We’ve stayed at the Ocean Blue complex 4 times before, in different apartments, and been really impressed with all of them.

However arrival at Constantine Bay Cottage was quite disappointing for the following reasons: 1. Floors hadn’t been cleaned properly- before unpacking we had to hoover the whole house. None of the corners/edges had been hoovered inc a large amount of dog hair in the main bedroom. 2. A used hair elastic was next to the main bed. 3. There was a welcome basket that contained only a used biro and a pot of drawing pins (no joke). When I moved the basket off the window sill there were dead flies underneath. 4. The outdoor area(s) clearly hadn’t been swept for a long time; covered in sand, cobwebs etc. In addition the bench seat was broken. 5. There were crumbs in some cupboards and mould running down the fridge seal. 6. Small thing - in every other self catering property we’ve always been left with a dishwasher tablet and a dish cloth. Nothing here so it was a good job I brought my own cleaning things. Our overall impression was of an uncared for property, yet charging a high price. Either the cleaners aren’t doing their job properly or they aren’t paid for enough time. It was disappointing (and annoying) to arrive and have to do so much cleaning. So, we’ll definitely be back to the Ocean Blue complex but definitely not to this cottage.
