This was an absolutely super place, a perfect base for walking the coast path.

It was very comfortable, well equipped, and we particularly appreciated the welcoming cream tea after a long day's walk and the huge bath for aching limbs.

Gorgeous and immaculately cleaned. We had a completely wonderful time. It's so lovely and so close to the beach and to nice eating places. Also Suzie the owner was responsive and lovely. And the housekeeper Zoe was also great and really helpful. Highly recommend. Very highly.

Beautiful, quiet place to stay, very comfortable house, amazing views with ships and yachts coming and going into the English Channel all the time.

Very handy for the village of Coverack, which is fascinating to walk round. Walks from the door along coastal footpath. Kitchen is surprisingly small and restricted for such a large house, strange banging drawers which start soft close and then slam shut! Everything provided in house that one could want. EV car charger would be the icing on the cake! Fast charge provision in Cornwall is very poor.

Beautiful views and gorgeous artwork throughout the property. The welcome cream tea, flowers, and dog treats were a lovely touch and gratefully received after a long journey. We will most definitely be back!

Everything - from the stunning sea views, welcome cream tea, excellent facilities and the comfiest of beds - was just fabulous! The best place we have stayed on The Lizard - and we have stayed at many!!!

The property was wonderful and extremely comfortable. It's not often we stay in a holiday home and turn the heating down because it's so toasty and snug. A lot of thought has been put into the furnishings and our woofs loved their welcome treats. The garden was completely safe for dogs, if there was a means of escape ours would have found it and they didn't. The housekeeping and maintenance was top notch and we would highly recommend staying here. The property is on a steepish hill which didn't bother us.

Wow what a place and what a view!

Very comfortable, nicely designed and all on one level once you’ve come up the few steps to the front door. Wonderful large windows on 2 sides in the sitting and dining room and patio door straight out to the enclosed patio and well maintained garden - which our little elderly dog also appreciated. Views out to sea from one of the bedrooms and a large glass balcony door. Sweet twin room for kids and another double room looking out on to the garden. We loved our holiday, the bay is full of ocean wildlife !!! We watched Gannets diving, the local family of seals every day, dolphins regularly, and once, an hour long feeding frenzy of dolphins, tuna and gannets all from the luxury of the sitting room with our binoculars. Also lovely coastal path walks. Never a dull moment! Highly recommended esp for nature lovers.

Beautiful property with stunning views in an amazing location!

We really didn't want to leave. We had two glorious weeks there and were very lucky with the weather. Zoe the housekeeper was very helpful and answered our questions promptly. The beds were really comfortable and the property was very well equipped with everything you could need. The tumble dryer was a God send. There are plenty of facilities in Coverack and all within a 5 minute amble down the hill. The cream tea on arrival was a lovely touch. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

Beautiful views from the apartment and child friendly inside and in the garden . A nice personal touch with the home made scones/cream and flowers :) My only negative comment is that I felt that the high chair was not easy to keep clean and could be holding germs (perhaps a modern easy to clean one would be good) Thank you so much Fran and family

We had a great time, but, this is being really picky, the exterior paintwork needs a little freshening up to match the photos in your website.

The sea shows no mercy with exterior decor so this not a criticism, only a concern for the look of the building. Also, it’s nesting time now. The number of seagulls in the area was simply staggering, and their attention to the walls and windows was very apparent. They also made use of the my car roof to roost on overnight. By the end of the week, the car was assuming a different colour! I shall bring a tarpaulin next time! Many thanks, great time, great place, lovely people.

Great holiday home with fantastic views and lovely fixtures and fittings.

Everything you need for a very comfortable stay in a beautiful part of Cornwall. The property was very clean and well maintained with lots of thoughtful touches, cream tea on arrival was also much appreciated. Easy walk down the hill to the village with the added benefit of parking spaces. I would highly recommend and hope to return.

Beautiful flat with "wow factor" views in a lovely part of Cornwall.

Extremely comfortable and very well equipped throughout ,we did not want for anything. Unfortunately my husband was taken ill during our stay and our caretaker was very kind and could not have been more helpful to us during a very difficult time.

This is a lovely property with fantastic views, with a great secure garden ideal for families/dog owners; we love it!

I stayed at the Poop Deck with my husband and two dogs from 27th August until 1st September 2022.

A long awaited holiday after the restrictions of COVID. When we arrived at the Poop Deck the property was filthy. Prior to booking, I had read earlier reviews some of which referred to the cleanliness of the property. I called the owner to inform her of the state of the property and sent numerous photographs. The owner agreed that there was “a lot of dirt.” The owner arranged for the property to be cleaned again the next day and also offered me compensation. The following day 4 cleaners spent for 2 hours to bring the property up to scratch. Even after 8 hours extra cleaning there were areas that had not been addressed. I told the owner that I would just finish the cleaning myself and not use the microwave (as it was still dirty) to avoid any more disruption to our holiday. I did receive compensation (not at the level I requested to compensate for the disruption caused) but was told that this was on the basis that I did not leave a review. Sykes Cottages would not comment when I raised this with then. Anyway, that said, the Poop Deck is in a great location and there is lots to do locally – we visited Roskilly’s Ice Cream Farm, the Seal Sanctuary and the Lizard. The garden is a little sun trap and was great for our dogs. The local shops, pubs and beaches are lovely. The property is well equipped and the beds very comfortable. Would I stay here again. Probably not.

A lovely property, such wonderful views, we saw seals on our first day and dolphins on our last.

The house itself is very well kitted out, with high quality linen and towels etc. Very highly recommended !

Lovey property, great location, amazing views.

TLDR: Really excellent place for a quiet holiday - but watch out for the seagulls!

When we first arrived, "The Poop Deck" certainly lived up to its name, as we were dive-bombed by a very angry seagull that squirted us both with poop. Within 90 seconds we both had a significant amount of seagull poop on our jackets, t-shirts, trousers and shoes; It transpired that the Gull had 3 baby chicks nesting on the roof of the front door porch, and our attempt to carry our bags into the property was taken as an attack on the nest. Fortunately the property has both a washing machine and a tumble dryer; it also has a back door, so we used this for the whole holiday, though the position of the nest stopped us from using the balcony of the master bedroom. That said, the Poop Deck is an outstanding place to rent for a holiday, and we both thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property was clean and well decorated, has a lovely split-level back garden, part of which is quite secluded but still catches the sun from midday onwards, and the sea view is quite simply the best we have had; even though the property is some distance back from the beach, there is better than 120 degrees of sea view from the main picture window in the large lounge (and also from the balcony of the master bedroom, seagull-permitting). The furnishings appear to be new, and the kitchen is well stocked with quality utensils, crockery and cutlery. Everything smells fresh and clean; there is even a quiet air-con unit that keeps things pleasant too. The WiFi is excellent (though the router boxes in the master bedroom could do with being shrouded a bit at night as there are many blue LEDs). The local shops are five minutes walk away (and seven minutes back, due to the gradient) as is the pub/hotel, 2 restaurants and a takeaway - also there is a second hotel along the beachfront that also serves food to non-residents and has a small bar. In the harbour one may hire kayaks, paddleboards and even windsurfing gear from the RYA training centre. Would we visit again? Absolutely, yes! Thank you for a very relaxing stay.

This was our second visit to the Poop Deck and we had another wonderful holiday in Coverack, which we know and love.

The apartment has wonderful views, is quiet, very well appointed and comfortable. The garden is enclosed for the dog, the beds are extremely comfortable and the situation wonderful. I would thoroughly recommend, but be aware that it is up a very steep hill and has steps to the front door. We like that because it keeps us fit!

The poop deck is in a fabulous location with a wonderful view made so much better when halfway through our stay the dirty windows were cleaned.

The general cleanliness of the apartment was VERY poor with thick dust and hair on skirting boards in corners and on the bathroom floors. The apartment had obviously not been cleaned properly for some time. This was made all the worse because in the details it clearly states that a deep clean is undertaken between letting. I sent the owner pictures of the state of the poor hygiene standards and she did apologise. But offered no form of compensation. I have to say that the situation really did spoil our stay and I could not recommend it. Additionally the accommodation is promoted for up to six people however in the living area there is one large sofa and one chair, if six people were staying there would not be enough seating. I would like Sykes to contact me to discuss our experience.

Lovely property, exceptional views and great location with access to lots of walking routes and secluded coves as well as an excellent local pub, restaurant and shop.

We tried them all. Would have liked a blind or curtain on the windows in the lounge but this wasn't a massive issue. The garden is lovely with plenty of room and a sun trap for most of the day and is fully enclosed which was ideal as we had our mini daschund with us. Good to see that the parking area for flat 2 was being improved as it is advertised as parking for 2 cars and as it stands it would have been a bit of squeeze, once the drive area is complete it will have ample room for 2 vehicles. Overall an excellent stay in an excellent location. We will definately reccommend/return in the future.

The property was very comfortable and clean with a well provisioned kitchen, with all the utensils needed.

There was an excess of space for our needs (2 adults and a dog), and we only used the main bedroom; in which the bed was so comfortable we are prompted to replace our old one with the same. The position was excellent providing fantastic views and easy access to the coast paths and Coverack just a couple of hundred yards down a quite steep hill. We had a brilliant week, a recommend this property. (Hidden gem of the holiday: Roskilly's farm for ice cream, wood-fire cooked food and breakfasts - just a mile or so the other side of Coverack)

Fabulous property (our second visit) but the bathrooms were not very clean with pubic hair at the back of both toilets.

This property is ideally situated on the hill overlooking the bay.

It has 3 good sized rooms (two double & one twin). I only used the en-suite master bedroom which had a comfortable bed and I assume the others are to the same standard. Showers worked well and water was always hot as well in the kitchen. Kitchen is compact but functional with plenty of utensils, pots etc and a welcome gift of scones, jam and cream was a nice touch. Lounge/diner also a good size with TV capable of Netflix and Amazon Prime although Satellite signal went down a few times on normal TV channels. Garden table outside sliding doors I am sure would be used in the summer as well as the back garden which has seating and views for the sunset glass of wine. A well presented property but with a few things to bear in mind. Tumble dryer is in a cupboard under stairs and I did not use it for that reason. Lounge does get hot in full sun as there are no curtains. Parking would be fine for 2 small cars but only 1 SUV. Only downside for me personally is that it is not on top floor.and whilst there was only one quiet couple in residence while I was there, I could still hear them walking about above the lounge and climbing stairs. 3 couples with kids would have been a problem.

Great week again in Coverack at the Poopdeck for the second year running.

Plenty of space for the kids to run around. Delightful village including Elizabeth’s pasties and Archies Loft ice creams. Shame next years rental prices have been inflated again. From around £1k per week last year to around £2.5k for next year. Might have to look elsewhere.

A great place!

Last week we tried to book for 30/6/23-21/7/23 but have been told the dates are not yet available, however friends of ours last week booked 30/6/23-14/7/23 for another house in the same village through Sykes, so I am hoping this can be sorted out?

Spectacular sea views from the lounge and master bedroom. Situated in a picturesque village with local pub and restaurant/take away. Easy access into southwest coastal path.

Enjoyed a relaxing break, appreciating the fresh flowers and cream tea welcome plus bottle Cornish Milk.

Spacious comfortable apartment, one more armchair required if at full capacity. Excellent locality, Coverack made us welcome and dog friendly. Felt safe ( covid) would love to return to the area. Downside that needs improving, lighting in en-suite bedroom required, can’t see into wardrobe with only a bedside light available. Probably a one off but not nice to find recycle bin in kitchen still full and frying pan with used oil still in it on ( late) arrival.

Not much to do Coverack is a nothing place

Outstanding house, location and facilities.

The garden is well kept and suitable for outdoor entertaining and secure for children. Views are breathtaking, especially when watching at sun rise. Village of Coverack 5 min walk with all necessary shops. Convenient for day trips to Penzance, Minack theatre and the delightful beaches of Porthcurno and Kynance. Great place to stay and have already booked next years holiday. Only one word of warning: this will become your new regular annual destination for summer holidays!

A wonderful home in a stunning location (what a view!

). We were the owners first guests post lockdown so we appreciate the rush it was to make the property ready. Zoe the housekeeper is on hand too for any questions or emergencies, she was lovely.
