“When I walked in I thought to myself wow this is so lovely , 2 drinks and milk in fridge.”

I looked at the guest information then saw that the bed was hard mattress with topper(1.5”) if needed (and pretty noisy), my heart sank, personal preference I would not have chosen a hard one. Then out to the glorious garden, but as it had been raining the 11 steps up were a bit hazardous as nothing to hold on to. If these 2 things were in the description I honestly would not have booked it. Minor to some but pretty major for me. I’m happy to give 4 stars as the proximity to beach is ...

Hello Anne, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Glad to read that you appreciated the drinks and milk in the fridge, and that you found the proximity to beach to be fantastic. However, I’m sorry to read that the bed was not to your liking. The provision of a harder mattress coupled with a mattress topper is purposeful in that it endeavours to meet the wide variety of guests’ preferences. Namely, that for those who prefer a softer bed, they can keep the mattress topper on (which the manufacturer states as 4”), and for those who prefer a harder bed, they can remove it. Regarding your second point, I’m aware that the steps you mention are flanked by stone walls, albeit not waist or hip height for the entirety of the incline/decline, but I do wonder if their presence provided a useful point of contact when traversing them. However, of course the garden can also be accessed via the concrete ramp that runs alongside (as opposed to behind) Little Seacroft; I hope that access better met your needs. “Location and views from the property are outstanding.”

The bed and pillows the best I have had in a holiday stay and the accommodation was lovely but quite small and just a little overpriced, but still ok for a couple. Would have liked to have had an extra chair to relax on and the layout of the furniture was not great but nothing that would put me off staying again. Could do with a little extra deep clean and the blinds in the bedroom were awkward to close. Hot water tap in the kitchen trickled and there was no mop or bucket so floors got grubby especially as we had our three small dogs with us. There was also no broom or dustpan when we arrived but after mentioning this to cleaners one was delivered the following day. Overall a very pleasant little place although overshadowed ( had to keep curtains closed otherwise they could see in) by the larger Seacroft property which ran alongside it.

Hello Allen, thank you for taking the time to leave feedback for your stay at Little Seacroft, and wonderful to read that you found the views from the property to be outstanding, and that the bed and pillows were the best you’ve had in a holiday stay. Interesting to read that you found the accommodation to be both small for a one-bedroom flat and to be overpriced; I’d be intrigued as to what you would be comparing Little Seacroft against to come to such conclusions. I understand that you may have had preferences for different furnishings and layouts; it’s very much designed to enable guests to be able to sit at the dining room table and enjoy the sea views, and to watch the TV from the comfort of the three-seater sofa. Yes, whilst the curtains in the bedroom are easy to open and close, the telescopic pole definitely makes opening and closing the skylights in the vaulted ceilings much easier; I hope you were able to find that pole. Agreed the water pressure from the hot tap in the kitchen tends to be a little low, but my general experience is that it is serviceable. Fab that the cleaners provided additional cleaning materials upon your request; thank you so much for taking such good care of Little Seacroft during your stay. Yes, the dining areas of Little Seacroft and Seacroft are at right-angles to one another, so if either side were motivated to look in, they could perhaps see something of the other property. However, given that both properties are on private land, without public access, and only one neighbour in a detached property on the other side of the building, I perceive the properties to have an exceptional level of privacy. “We loved our stay at little seacroft, the accommodation could be a little better, the shower when booking didn't show a plastic shower curtain, and the lounge could do with an extra soft chair, as the sofa was a little low for me.”

Also the tap in the kitchen, when hot water was needed, was down to a trickle before we left. Other than that, the stay was memorable, enjoyable, and would definitely recommend and come back again. The view was breathtaking, as was the walk to the pubs and shop, but I did manage it twice, so for a lady on sticks, it's a win for me. Crantock is in my top 5 favourite places in Cornwall to stay.

You’re absolutely the right, the shower previously had a glass door to it; however, less than 48 hours before your arrival, an incident occurred which meant it had to be replaced. Thankfully, the property manager did a fantastic job of finding a functional alternative. Duly noted about the sofa height, I appreciate your comment. Yes, the flow of the hot tap is different to the cold in the kitchen sink. Fantastic to read that your stay was memorable, enjoyable, and recommend-able, and that you’d come back again. “Little Seacroft was the perfect size for us (2 adults and 2 medium size dogs).”

It had all the facilities we needed, and is a short walk to the beach making morning and evening walks enjoyable and easy. Our dogs absolutely loved the underfloor heating, and so did our feet after being down the beach. The shared garden is really well kept and big. We were there at the same time as a family who also had a dog and we never had an issue accessing the garden when needed. The games room in the garden is a lovely touch for chilled evenings when the dogs needed rest.

“Had a lovely weekend in Little Sea Breeze, the apartment had everything for a weekend break or a holiday, wonderful views of the sea, easy access to the beach and village.”

The village has a well-stocked shop, two pubs, a café, and the most amazing Pizza restaurant, the Jam Jar, in easy walking distance (slightly uphill) , the next village (Cubert) has a great fish and chip shop. People in the local area were very friendly and there seems to be lots of thing going on in the village, our dog loved it. Little Sea Breeze, has a smart TV and the WIFI was fine to work on Will definitely go back

“This is my fourth stay at Little Seacroft and it never disappoints.”

It has everything needed for a relaxing break with my dogs and is super comfortable x. I was last here in January and the property has taken a bit of a battering over the summer months but this did not detract from a wonderful holiday. “This property is all about the view/location which on both counts its 5 out of 5.”

If you are planning to walk the South West Coast you are unlikely to beat its location/access to the local bus service also there are 2 great pubs in the village within 10 mins walk . Stayed in a lot of Sykes property's over the years and although i could not describe this property as being dirty most of the others have been far cleaner also there was a sad lack of saucepans for cooking and cutlery , no chopping board until we asked which to be fair was supplied within the day for me its 3.5 Stars

“Wonderfully warm and comfortable acommodation in an amazing location, although it could get quite busy during peak season due to proximity to the beach.”

Amazing views. Property is tucked away and offers privacy despite being literally just a few mins walk to the beach and costal path, and is about ten mins walk in the opposite direction to the village centre where you can find a well stocked shop, two dog friendly pubs and a dog friendly cafe by day/pizza place by night. The weather was terrible during our stay but there was still lots to do in the local area. Recommend a morning walk on the beach (but not in gale force winds - that was a mistake!) followed by breakfast at the Beachcomber cafe or coffee shack on the beach, and evening food in the Old Albion Inn or the Jam Shed. Well worth the short trip into Newquay as well for a wide selection of street food at the Boat House on the harbour. Lovely to sit outside and watch the sun go down while eating. Little Seacroft is well equipped, and perfect for couples, particularly if you have a dog. Due to the weather, unfortunately we were not able to make the most of the garden and patio area, which were lovely, and we didn't get around to using the games room either. We do self catering holidays in the UK every year and this has been one of our favourites. Highly recommend, and we plan to return at some point in the future.

“Lovely location .”

But some general maintenance of the property needs to be carried out. Parts of the flooring are tired and need replacing . The shower is old and needs a refurb. The gates to the garden needs repairing and either don't close properly or are coming off their hinges. I can see from previous reviews there's been problems with the door locks and I too had the same problem . Which totally wrecked my plans for the only full day I had explore the area and meet family for lunch waiting for a lock smith to make the property secure and leave as the key was stuck in the lock . Tried to exit through another door which was also broken and wouldn't unlock. Also poses a safety issue.

Hiya Jodie. Glad you liked the location, yeah, I think it is particularly well-suited to appreciate the beautiful Cornish coastline. That said, I’m sorry that you felt that the maintenance wasn’t on point. I’ve relayed your comment about the garden gates to the maintenance person; he’ll have a look and resolve any issues regarding that. In terms of the shower, the pictures are indicative of the ensuite that guests have access to, but I recognise that it wasn’t to your expectations. However, I’m going to focus my response predominantly on the door locking issue you describe. You’re right, we’ve had a couple of problems with the sliding glass door. Each time we’ve had a locksmith out, they’ve been able to repair the issue, and each time I’ve believed, seemingly naively, that it’s been permanently fixed. Given the rare, but stubborn nature of the issue, we’re now in the process of switching the doors over to ensure that the primary means of access will be via a hinged door. I know the property manager exchanged many calls and texts with you upon the issue arising, and that he offered a couple of different options to try and mitigate the impact upon your afternoon. However, I’m also aware that you didn’t feel any of those were viable options; I respect that choice and I’m sorry that further impacted your plans. From my perspective, you’ve been heavily compensated for an issue with the property that I take responsibility for. But I also understand from Sykes that you were expecting a 100% refund for the entirety of your stay, so I can see why anything less would be a disappointment. It’s a well equipped, clean and comfortable little bolt hole very close to the beach. The view from the garden is spectacular and the dogs love the space to wander around. Crantock Village is only a few minutes walk and has a great pizza parlour and two great pubs. We’ll be back.

“A cute little property with everything you need for a great stay.”

Dog friendly, with a good size garden. The listing didn't claim secure for the dogs but the fences backed by bushes are well over 5 foot and we didn't find any gaps, so our two dogs were very secure. The property is at the top of a very steep hill. Gives fantastic views but you need to be aware that it is a steep walk to the beach and the village. Everything in the property was clean, I just marked it down slightly as a couple of things such as flooring, are a little tired. Overall a great place to stay.

“We spent a week from 20th September at Little Seacroft .”

It’s a beautiful little apartment that was very clean and nicely decorated . We especially liked the kitchen which was lovely and equipped with everything for self catering . Another plus was the smart tv which was so easy to use to log in to apps . The views of the beach were spectacular especially from the pretty garden. In a word perfection . “A lovely little cottage, that is bigger than it looks.”

Well equipped and a great location for the beach, coastal path and surrounding area. It has a spacious patio area that is a great suntrap for most of the day. Any minor problems we had were quickly and efficiently sorted out. Although I have mobility issues I still managed to get around either on my crutches and/or scooter.

Absolutely, while the enclosed space you refer to is officially a communal area as it is the location of the outside shower, outside tap, and wood pile, I’m 100% in agreement with you that it would just feel a little more contained if an additional gate was mounted in that area. As I’m sure you will have seen, the frame for the gate has been mounted, and following your comments, I enquired about the progress of the gate today. Pleased to report that it should be fitted imminently and so, at whatever point you return, you can rest assured that the new gate shall be waiting for you and your canine companions. Lovely location, very clean and well appointed property. Only a couple of minor grips, no dishcloth, blower in the kitchen was a bit of a pain overnight & the compost bin a the way over by the games room. However, these are very minor irritations.

I’m sorry to read that there was no dishcloth, that must have been an inconvenience for you. A clean dishcloth is scheduled to be provided at each changeover and was evidently overlooked prior to your stay, please accept my apologies and be assured that one would be available to you should you return. I’m also sorry to read that you found the blower in the kitchen to be a pain overnight. In light of your feedback, the property manager and I have reprogrammed this with the hope of making it more accessible to future guests. In terms of your comment about the compost bins being all the way over by the games room, I can very much empathise with you on the occasions that I have gone to take the compost out on a torrentially rainy day… at those times, it feels like a mission!! Part of the complexity is that because the garden is so very large and open, I’ve opted to prioritise sheltering the compost bins between the games room and the shed to avoid them being blown over in the occasional, but sometimes very intense, storm. Nevertheless, I shall think more upon your comment and whether there might be a more appropriate place to situate them closer to the house. (And hands up, the environmentalist in me is really very pleased to read of your use of the compost bins. Although I’d hoped they would continue to be used, I wasn’t sure if there was value in keeping them when I made the house available to guests, so thank you affirming my decision.) “It is a warm and cosy cottage in a great location.”

Just what we were looking for. The owner has put a lot of thought and effort in to making sure that guests are comfortable during their stay. The facilities are excellent with lots of mod cons. We like our television and had access to a good selection of streaming services. We had two dogs with us and the garden space was brilliant. It was very secure which meant the dogs could wander freely. And large enough for them to have a good play (they’re big dogs). We shall certainly stay there again.

Hands up, when I bought the TV, whilst I did a lot of research, I was both surprised and impressed by the feature that allows guests the opportunity to personalise the use of the TV for the duration of their stay and then for the TV to automatically wipe those settings for the next guest to use it afresh – so clever, especially when someone might also have their own streaming account they want access to while they’re away, but don’t want the hassle of repeatedly signing in and out. How lovely to have two big canine companions with you, and great that they were able to fully make use of the large garden; agreed, it is a well-suited space for dogs to have a good play. Without a doubt this is the best place we have had the pleasure to stay in. Everything was spot on, warm and cosy. Comfortable settee and bed top quality bedding and towels. Very clean modern with all the essentials plus extras. The garden is a delight with outstanding views. Our visit was a sad one, bringing our beloved dogs ashes back to the place he loved. We will be back in March and May stopping in Seacroft and we cannot wait. The owner should be proud that she cares about her guest and it really shows. Thank you

“This is a lovely holiday cottage.”

It is warm (underfloor heating), exceptionally clean, very well equipped and has superb views from the garden. It is located within easy walking distance of one of the best beaches in Cornwall and is a short stroll from a shop and a couple of pubs. It has off-road parking and a large garden which is secure for dogs. The bed is king sized and very comfortable. The shared games room is a bonus. We think the addition of a coat stand in the lounge would be of benefit. We would definitely return.

Crantock is a small Cornish village, just a short walk from the beach, close to the popular resort of Newquay. If you want to escape the crowds, yet still be close to the action, this is the place to be. There's stunning countryside all around and lots of pretty villages to explore; however, it is the coast that dominates. Enjoy superb walks along the coastal path over dramatic cliff-tops, or magnificent surfing on beaches stretching from Watergate Bay in the North to Fistral beach in the centre of Newquay and on down the coast.
