The Old Barn

We were emailed twice prior to arrival asking us to contact them an hour prior.

We did so and asked what time we are arriving as the keys were not left in a lock box, like other properties we have been to. The lady was sitting inside the property on the sofa when we arrived Met us at the door and showed my wife around all the rooms There was a welcome pack which we could’ve looked at and didn’t need to be showed where the bedrooms and things were. We had been on a very long drive and just wanted to get in the place and relax. Two days later the lady again turned up asking if things are okay. And again 2 to 3 days again after that she arrived again at the property to ask questions. When on holiday all you want is to be able to relax and be away from people and day-to-day things. This holiday we could not relax as we didn’t know when the lady would come back around again to check on things. In our opinion, this is quite invasive as the front was open so you couldn’t exactly hide and be away from things if you did see her coming. We didn’t want to say, please leave us alone as that would’ve been rude on our part but again coming round more than once is too much really Personally I think privacy and space is needed. I do not think people should be coming round to check every day or so Personally just email or text us. The place was lovely but it had a lot of black mould in the corners and it had a very funny smell downstairs which was old and damp smell which was very unpleasant. Also, the downstairs drains smelt bad We ended up sleeping in one room in the end as it wasn’t clean. There was a lot of black mould in the shower showers. A good mould spray would get rid of this. The radiators downstairs Were full of dust. Cobwebs spiders, flies and mosquitoes everywhere again. I don’t think the ceilings were cleaned specially in the corners. Upstairs was the same regarding cobwebs and dust The towels were thin and rock hard. And also the drive was terrible especially as you entered the gates. It was a mud pit every time we went out and came back in as the cows kept coming in and out of there every morning and evening This was not mentioned on the description. I would definitely change the meeting greet at the property as in a nice way it’s the last thing you want to do, especially if you have driven far. Privacy is a must on a holiday. And the cleanliness needs to be sorted, which I think is an issue with your cleaners The property was in a beautiful setting and the amenities like the washing machine and dishwasher were very handy including the laundry pods and dishwasher tablets. There was a dryer, but was told on the day of arrival we could not use it as it was on recall We was also left soap shower gel, milk, and Sainsbury’s scones.

Lovely cottage!

Really spacious and very comfortable. It was incredibly peaceful and we were very lucky with the weather.

The property was lovely and I will definitely be booking again for next summer.

The owners left us cream teas which was delicious, and they were very helpful when the washing machine blocked.

A lovely quiet peaceful place to stay for a holiday off the beaten track but still within easy reach of the beaches and Lands End.

A cosy barn with everything you could need. Very hospitable hosts. Really enjoyed our week there.

A lovely cream tea to welcome us and it carried on from there! The barn was very spacious with 4 of us staying and and we all commented on how comfy the beds were. The cows visiting us every morning was an extra with our stay! The property is situated off the beaten track so is lovely and peaceful and we would recommend anyone to stay. Thank you Gail for a fab week!

Cottage light and airy.

Everything you needed. Cream tea on arrival was lovely. Bedding and beds really comfy and luxury to have bath sheets not little towels ! The host Gail welcomed us and popped in later in week to check we were ok. Would recommend cottage.

Stayed in July 2022 The Old Barb is a wonderful place to stay to explore the nearby coast, beaches, walks, villages and towns all within easy access.

Gail was lovely checking in on us on arrival making sure we had everything and we did! Beautifully maintained, spacious enough to accommodate 4 adults comfortably The Old Barb is a must if you want to getaway from it all but have this beautiful region of Cornwall a stone throw away. Highly recommended!

Check out at 9am and check in at 5pm not represented in the overall cleanliness.

Owner not happy with cleaning company however we had to clean to get to our standard

We took our little toddler to the Old Barn for a week.

It was the perfect space for him and us. Spacious accommodation, yet cosy. Situated, amongst a working farm, located centrally to many beautiful towns and walks. Would highly recommend this property. We look forward to going back.

This is a very comfortable, clean and quiet place to stay.

It is off the beaten track but still gives access to all the gems this part of Cornwall has to offer. Very pleased with our stay.

The barn was cosy yet roomy, warm, quiet, stylish, of a very high standard and the owners were lovely. Location was great. We would definitely stay again.

We had the most wonderful weather for Oct/Nov.

After a good night's sleep and breakfast in the Old Barn, it was wonderful to look out at the beautiful green fields and peaceful space and decide what to do for the day. The location was perfect for driving out to so many different areas and every morning we took in a costal walk, then visited many coves, beaches, villages, eating places and local sites with ease and comfort. Took lots of photos of the amazing scenery and generally had a peaceful and calming week.

It was a lovely property and the host on site, Mrs.

Gail Hunt, was a delightful and very helpful lady. The only criticism that we would have would be that of the absence of curtains to the entrance/living area......difficult to watch the TV in the evening sun! Otherwise just fine!

The Old Barn is a wonderful place to retreat to.

It’s comfortable, warm, quiet and feels like home away from home. My family loved the fact it’s off the road and set on beautiful land with open skies and close to everything, including Sennen Cove, Newlyn and Penzance. Highly recommended. Thank you.
