“Amazing countryside views in a peaceful location.”
Very quiet on site, did not hear other guests ( or see many) but then again, this part of the site looks as if there are around 6 or 7 lodges to be added. That said, it will still be exclusive and not jam packed. The lodge was clean, tastefully decorated and comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped, excellent pans and cooking utensils and all of the equipment was easy to use. No need to take my own cafetiere even! The deck outside is fabulous with a large, private hot tub and great patio furniture. Pity the weather wasn't warmer when we stayed!! There are spaces for new lodges either side of this lodge, currently vacant foundations but even when these are filled, there seems to be some consideration as to keeping the decked areas private from being overlooked.
If you find it hard to sleep in the light, early mornings, I would take an eye mask- the curtains don't do much to hide the morning sun - but if that doesn't bother you then you'll have no problems!. The bed was comfortable and overall the lodge was larger than I expected, 2 bathrooms, a large shower in one and a bath and over-bath shower in the other and a dressing room!
Travelling by car around the area is essential as we did not discover anything in walking distance of the lodge and the road outside the site was not paved all the way to the shop and could be a bit hair-raising! Local Spar, 10 mins walk for basics. We travelled to Liskeard for a choice of takeaways (covid restrictions meant no restaurants for us).
Overall - this is a place for leisurely breakfasts, overlooking wonderful views. Taking it easy in the hot tub with a glass of wine ( plastic glasses for outside use included)! If you are looking for low pace and total peace- this is a great base. If you need a bit of life, you will have to drive to it ( although there is a carvery pub about 15 mins walk away).
I would book again and that's the bottom line. We had a lovely time. After 5 days - we wanted to stay longer.
