“We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge, however the property does need a bit of a spruce up in areas.”
Upon booking you’re warned of the damage fees so you have to spend 30 mins going round taking photos of damages already there just incase. The floor in the bathroom area should be replaced or covered with something waterproof as the damage there is quite significant.
We stayed on a Wednesday - Sunday as we had my brothers wedding locally on the Tuesday with accommodation there from Mon - Weds. I had to pay an extra £400 approximately to stay for these awkward dates, that’s fine. But in that case especially you expect everything to work, we had no wifi for 3 days, we were only there for 4. It was my birthday on Friday, my husband had bought me a kindle and I couldn’t set it up or explore, we had planned to have a couple of cosy nights in and watch some films but we couldn’t. We called the number given for any issues and they were of no help.
There are no dvds supplied which could be a good idea so that people have a little selection of something to watch. It would also be really helpful to have a salt & pepper mill in the lodge.
The bed was comfortable although one side felt slightly tilted/uneven, possibly damaged underneath? We didn’t look into it, and the purple throw hadn’t been washed for what looked like quitea while, it had a lot of marks on it which wasn’t nice.
It was great to have some milk supplied and the little box of needed items such as tea etc, I was so grateful for this after arriving exhausted from the wedding. The area is beautiful and the position of the lodge is great, we felt nicely secluded, the hot tub is well maintained and was a really enjoyable part of our stay. It was easy to go anywhere from there, we know Bodmin well and we visited Looe, Fowey, Liskeard, Lostwithiel, Mawganporth and Porthpean where we took the paddle boards out and saw Seals!
We had a brilliant time away for my birthday after a couple of rubbish ones and the lodge played a great part in that. We would stay again :).
