Mariners Rest

Absolutely wonderful

this is a tastefully furnished, homely and well equipped apartment, tucked away in a peaceful part of the village, with both a sea and country view, and within a short walk of the beach and village centre.

Georgia is a kindly host, helpful and available if needed.

From the moment we arrived at Mariners rest we fell in love with it and a week was far too short and did not want to leave.

It is ideally situated with lovely views of the sea from the patio and a 10 minute walk takes you to a lovely small beach and harbour with a great cafe. Plenty of room for parking right next to the cottage. The cottage is really very comfortable with a fully equipped kitchen and was perfect for myself, my wife and our two dachshunds. The owner Georgia lives next door and is super helpful and even when not about will reply to messages very quickly, not that we needed to message often as nothing was amis.

Very clean and comfortable.

Ideal for 2 people.

It was a last minute booking.

...a cancellation allowed us to stay in this lovely annexe to the owners house.. It was an enjoyable and relaxing stay with a friendly and welcoming host.

What a perfect place to stay … clean tidy full of essentials and 5 mins to the lovely beach and harbour side cafes.

Georgia was very welcoming and made us feel at home ! The weather was perfect and the outside seating was great for a glass or two. The resident swifts gave us a few flybys and a local owl gave us a hoot! Defo recommend staying here. For those of you who maybe considering this but stalling because it’s dog friendly ( and you don’t have a dog) book it ! You would never know dogs have stayed here ! Thanks again Georgia for a great stay !

What a beautiful cottage, in a lovely location.

So clean and tidy, and ideal for a relaxing holiday. Just a short walk to the centre of the village and beach. Georgia is a lovely host and always on hand if you need anything. We can’t wait to go back.

Mariners Rest is a great place to stay in Gorran Haven, it’s spacious, clean and comfortable and is in a great secluded location set back from the road , a short walk to the beach.

Georgia our host was very helpful and friendly, checking that we had everything we needed.

What a wonderful week, in the middle of the heatwave!

Are stay at the property was every thing we wanted our hostess was helpful and even when ill still found time to help us dog friendly ,clean tidy could not complain about anything thank you for a lovely stay

On first arriving at the property just from the appearance outside we were sure we wouldn’t be disappointed.

In fact once inside it was spotless. Tea. Coffee. milk etc were provided to start things off nicely. The property was well equipped and everything was to a very high standard also at an ideal location for the beach. Georgia the owner is very pleasant and although we were totally satisfied I’m sure if we had any problems she wouldn’t hesitate to sort things out . We would be happy to stay here again Andrew & Karen

Had an amazing time at the Mariners rest, booked very last minute, the accommodation was lovely, had everything I needed and Georgia was very welcoming, evening lending me a coat on the first day as it was a bit overcast and I forgot to take anything warm to wear, the weather brightened up and myself and two dogs had a lovely relaxing weekend taking in the lost gardens of heligan, healeys cyder farm Caerhays beach, Gorran Haven beach a 5 minute walk away, fish and chips were great and the ice creams, also managed to fit in an art show and Sunday lunch at the Barley Sheaf

A delightful property situated in a small fishing village with coastal views.

The property is very well maintained and spotlessly clean. Everything we needed was provided from bedding, towels and crockery. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering and the freezer is a good size for storing plenty of foods. Would highly recommend for a peaceful Cornish holiday with plenty to do nearby including coastal footpaths, beaches and gardens.

A lovely, quiet place to stay, a short walk to the sea.

The property is well equipped, clean and comfortable all to a high standard. We had a very nice week with our dogs, who were made very welcome with little extras such as a special towel, blanket and dog biscuits!

Wonderful accommodation, maintained to a very high standard and very comfortable.

Owner provides all the assistance you may require for an enjoyable restful break going above and beyond to ensure that all runs smoothly throughout without being intrusive. Mariners Rest is set in an amazing area of Cornwall with plenty to see and do. Local produce is readily available should you wish to dine in as well as a number of eateries to cater for most tastes if you want to dine out. An amazing place just to chill and relax.

On arrival the property was lovely and clean.

A really nice kitchen with everything you might need, large bedroom and comfortable bed. Ideally situated for lovely walks with the dog. We will definitely return

Really nice accommodation in a fantastic location, just a five minute walk from the beach.

Parking in front of the cottage is a big bonus. Georgia, the owner was really nice and friendly. The one small criticism I have is the velux window over the stairs used to flood the bedroom with sunlight in the early morning and made it hard to have a lie-in. It could really do with a blind on the window, although I don't know how you would reach it to open or close it. I didn't mention this to Georgia because there was nothing she could have done during our stay to change it. Other than that, it is probably nicest, cleanest, best located cottage we have stayed in.

A beautiful cottage in a lovely location.

Unfortunately Sykes and the owner gave us inaccurate incorrect information after we had booked and when we got there it made it all very difficult. Dog not allowed upstairs to sleep , although the owner did agree after night one No control over the heating until eventually after 4 days we were given access to the device so had to endure hot/cold temperatures all the time so did the poor dog Owner blamed Sykes for poor information on the area as seasonal changes Nothing open in the village meaning we always had to drive 20 minutes plus Pub was in a different village down a very dark windy dangerous lane We were asked to leave as the dog was not allowed to be left in the cottage even though others did as written in the guest book Sykes customer service was terrible, we were given the option of a caravan for over new year! Television channels hit and miss We left a day early

Very comfortable quiet accommodation.

Kitchen is well equipped with everything you need. An easy walk into the village and beach.

MARINERS REST WAS FIRST CLASS IN EVERY ASSPECT .

WILL GO AGAIN IF WE CAN FIND THE TIME WHEN THE SUN SHINES KIND REGARDS TO GEORGEA AND THE DOG.PAT @VAL PEPLOW.

I treated my mom to this holiday, she needed somewhere peaceful and restful.

As son as she arrived she knew it was going to be an amazing retreat. So much so she knew she wanted to come back next year. So booked straight away. The fact she could sit outside , relax, see beautiful sights, nature, her dogs coming and going as they like .She was so touched how Georgia came to welcome them and had left treats for them and the dogs. Everything thought of that you would need, clean and well looked after. My mom had the most amazing time, all stresses and worries gone.Shes now counting down to the next one. Thankyou Georgia for giving my mom a happy place to relax in and one to look forward to next year. Once again thank you from my Mom Marlene,Andrew and the sausages xxx

We found Mariners Rest to be a delightful property.

It is large, well equipped and immaculately presented. We found it to be a perfect base to visit tourist attractions, secluded beaches and picturesque villages. The coastal path runs through Gorran Haven giving easy access to walks with superb views of the Cornish coastline. Added to this, our host, Georgia was very attentive but in an unobtrusive way. We would definitely book again if we were visiting the area.

Georgia is the perfect hostess, the property is gorgeous.

It was clean, fresh and had everything we needed. Our dogs loved the walk to the beach and playing in the sea. We will definitely return x

Mariner’s Rest is a little gem, great accommodation, very clean, tidy and the perfect location for our mini break.

Ten minutes walk to the picturesque harbour with a sandy beach and an ideal base for travelling around. Our host, Georgia was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. We could not recommend Mariner’s Rest more highly and would love to return one day.

Mariners Rest is a lovely home and we had a lovely time even though the weather was a bit mixed.

We loved our stay and have recommended it to my Sister who has already booked for June. Poppy enjoyed the enclosed garden. The view to the beach was lovely to see every day. Georgia was a wonderful host. If you required any help she was always available. But not intrusive. Wren the dog was very friendly. We would differently recommend and would return Thank you Georgia and Wren

Thank you Georgia!

Mariners Rest is a delightful home from home, and ideally situated in beautiful Gorran Haven. We had a lovely time staying at Mariners Rest, but the Cornish weather really could have been kinder to us! ⛈☔

Gorran Haven is a beautiful village on the South Cornwall coast.

Mariners Rest is aptly named, it sits in a tranquil setting, and if you like peace and quiet then this is for you. It is ideally situated for exploring the coastal nook and cranies. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are a few miles away and the Eden Project is a half hour drive. The property has all the amenities you need, no need to load the car up! Georgia was a wonderful and knowledgeable host, she was able to provide us with pointers on where to visit. August you can see the sun rise from the bedroom over the harbour, and if you like star gazing and the sky is clear, then you are in for a treat, no light pollution. 10/10 and I would love another stay, unwind heaven!

Managed to book Mariners rest last minute as we were having big family celebrations in Gorran Haven.

I’ve stayed in several different cottages in Gorran Haven and this was by far the nicest! ( I really want to keep it secret!) Booking through Sykes was seamless and Georgia the cottage owner was friendly and communicated really well. The accommodation was clean and fresh and the kitchen was pretty new and lovely. The bed was super comfy and the shower was fantastic! After a day on the beach it felt like luxury to come back here. Incredible views from the front garden and it felt so safe and secure and so peaceful. I cannot wait to come back!

Lovely peaceful and well equipped, home from home.

Fabulous property perfect location lovely owner Georgia, very relaxing week nice enclosed area for our two small dogs, easy walk down to a lovely beach and coastal walks .

Excellent location close to beach and ideal for visiting local tourist spots.

Owner lives next door and is very helpful .

What a fantastic find.

Georgia today host was very accomadating and understanding with our old little furbaby. The property had everything you needed for a short stay or a full week. Comfortable and clean..... looking forward to booking again for 2026 5*** all the way. Best Wishes Lisa and Andrew

Amazing property, spacious, comfortable and very private.

Amazing views and beautiful gardens. We had a very relaxing holiday. Georgia has a beautiful home, and letting people share this property is a gift to enjoy.

Have stayed at Mariners Rest for 2 weeks x 3 times.

It is our first choice rental in our first choice Cornish village. We have now booked our 4th stay for 3 weeks stay. Mariners Rest is absolutely beautiful. Spotlessly clean, comfortable. So peaceful. The standard of everything is excellent. If you need anything, Georgia is only a phone call away. Definitely recommend this charming cottage.

Lovely stay, great location and cottage.

Extremely spacious and well looked after. The owner was very attentive to needs. We would love to return.

Mariners Rest is 5* accommodation with high quality fixtures and fittings, set in a quiet location yet just 5 minutes to the beach, shops, fish and chip shop and pub.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will definitely return. p.s. photos don't do it justice!

Wonderful

We had a lovely stay in a very nice property and location .

A spacious and comfortable property.

Provides everything you could need and is in a picturesque setting.

Curtains needed in bedroom to cut out light.

Blanket on bed would be appreciated, as quilt was too warm. No instructions for oven which had no temperature or function markings

Excellent holiday accommodation and spotlessly clean.

Good base from which to tour the local area. Welcome pack of half a small jug of milk and some biscuits was 'ok' but other cottages provide a bit extra.( Guide note only/observation.) Owner very pleasant and welcoming. David.

A lovely, clean and welcoming property within easy walking distance of the beach and coastal path.

An ideal base for exploring the area and ideal to come home to at the end of the day. Perfect for visiting The Lost Gardens of Heligan, The Eden Project and many many beautiful beaches. We really appreciate the owner welcoming dogs too, ours had a wonderful week!

Mariner's cottage is a fabulous property.

With sea views and a short stroll to the harbour with coastal paths feeding off from it, it's an ideal place to stay with all the comforts you could require. The outside area is very secure for your dog/dog's, giving peace of mind. Georgia the owner, goes above and beyond to make your stay is as memorable as possible. All in all it's Mariner's cottage is perfectly situated place for getting around Cornwall, with all the comforts you could ask for.

This was our 2nd stay at Mariners Rest.

Already booked our 3rd visit. Absolutely amazing. Warm, comfortable, relaxing. Spotlessly clean, very well equipped. Georgia is a fabulous host. Nothing too much trouble.

A fab property.

We were lucky enough to be staying here, right in the middle of Gorran Haven, over New Year! Although the weather let us down some of the time, we can’t fault anything else. Lovely welcome treats for us and the dogs on arrival, everything we needed to feel at home straight away & a great location. Cakebreads just down the road (village shop, cafe, bar & post office all mixed into one!) serves up a cracking breakfast (outside so wrap up warm) which set us on our way for fabulous walks in all directions… although the walk to Vault beach is a must on a sunny day, especially if you combine it with a walk to the Barley Sheaf pub….best Scotch egg ever & amazing steak!!! Mevagissey is also within easy reach, with a nice stop off at the Rising Sun in Portmellon. Great fish & chips in Gorran Haven to head back to al the end of the day too! Everywhere we went was super friendly, to us and the dogs! (Although, this may alter in peak season!) Highly recommend both the property & the location!

Paul and I really enjoyed a wonderful week at Mariners Rest.

This ‘home from home’ is truly delightful: all the facilities we needed; a terrific location; and friendly locals always happy to stop and have a chat (gossip). Gorran Haven is a lovely place to live and stay on holiday, with so many attractive places to visit close by - Heligan’s gardens, Vault Beach, Porthluney Cove Beach, Mevagissey, the coast path, to mention just a few. The welcome pack was very … well welcome! A lovely host ensured our stay provided us with the break we wanted and needed. Dawn and Paul, and the dogs Charlie and Finn.

Thank you for a lovely stay.

The property met our expectations and beyond. High standard of cleanliness, you wouldn’t know dogs stay.

What a superb find for us

We had a lovely stay at the Mariners Rest, and found the property to be very clean throughout the house which was very well equipped for all your needs.

The owner (Georgia) was very nice and approachable at any time. There were some great costal path walks we had with our dogs, and all the locals were very friendly. Some shops only opened for a couple of days during our stay early October, but till didn't affect are stay, I would think shops would be open more earlier In the season.

A great situation, close to the beach and cliff walks.

The property is roomy and well laid out. The bedroom is very big, with a king size firm bed. We enjoyed our stay.

Excellent

The property was perfect for us for a quiet relaxed getaway .

Close to the Eden project and lost gardens of Heligan. Geiorga was a perfect hostess making sure we had a perfect break.

Beautifully presented and furnished accommodation, very comfortable and well equipped.

Georgia the host friendly and helpful with any queries.

Mariners Rest felt like a home from home.

The house is very comfortable, nicely furnished and well-equipped. It was perfectly located and the owner, Georgia, who lives next door was a very helpful and pleasant host. We had a wonderful stay.

Immaculate home in a Beautiful, peaceful location, couldn't have wished for a better place to stay for a few days, it has everything you need and is furnished to a very high standard.

Fish and chip shop only a short walk away and a lovely little beach. Thank you Georgia for the perfect short break. Leanne & Chris xxx

We absolutely loved our stay at Mariners Rest in Gorran Haven.

We were just a few minutes from the beach and some lovely coastal walks. Our holiday cottage was a great place to stay and we throughly recommend it.

Mariners Rest is comfortable, well equipped, stylish, very spacious and has convenient parking.

It is close to the beach and excellent village shop at Gorran Haven and yet it is quiet and secluded. We would highly recommend Mariners Rest.

We had a delightful holiday in this Beautiful setting and in this amazing property.

It exceeded all expectations. It was exceptional clean and lovely furnishings. We had a lovely welcome pack. Towels and bedding was provided and was a lovely Quality. It was a short walk to the beach and amenities. The owner and locals were very friendly. We would not hesitate to book again. We felt so at home in this property we felt sad to leave. Our 5 month old puppy loved his stay too.

This is a great place to stay, every home comfort you would want while on holiday.

A short walk to the beach, chip shop and a bar would highly recommend booking this again.

Very tidy accommodation.

Lovely spot. Great little village, with a quaint beach. Would definitely stay at the Mariners Rest again.

Mariners Rest is a lovely property, me and husband stayed here for 3 nights with our 2 dogs and have had a lovely stay, it has everything you need.

Gorran Haven is very peaceful place especially when you’re sat on the patio with a gin in your hand looking at the sea view. Owner of the property is very warm and friendly and was really nice to meet her. Thank Georgia Gillian and Mark

A wonderfully presented holiday home.

Super clean, comfortable, and a perfect location for a holiday. A little gem.

Loverly cottage in a beautiful quiet location, ideal place to relax and unwind, with plenty of places to visit close bye, would recommend the coastal walk to Mevagissey, we'll worth the effort.

Lovely peaceful accommdation.

So glad to have stayed here. This is now our No.1 choice for stays at Gorran Haven. Already planning our next holiday at Mariners Rest. Sue and Gordon xx

Mariners Rest is delightful.

The accommodation is first rate and the location is superb. Only a few yards to a small sandy beach and eateries, it is also a great place to tour from. We had a very relaxing stay and Georgia was very kind and hospitable. Thank you Georgia!

Just back from a much needed break at Mariners Rest.

The weather wasn’t the best but it didn’t matter one bit as we were able to enjoy our beautiful place and surroundings come rain or shine! Lovely spacious and bright accommodation with a view of the sea to wake up to, such a calm, comfortable space to relax in, both inside and out. And thank you to our fabulous host Georgia who was excellent with her communication & kindly on call if we needed anything. But we didn’t as everything was perfect ! Super location to explore too - we enjoyed just being able to walk out the door and walk the costal path from Gorran Haven to Port Mellon on a beautiful sunny day with stunning coastal views and we even saw some seals ! And nearby, well worth exploring the fishing villages of Charlestown, Mevagissey and Fowey. We recommend the Polgooth Inn for an amazing breakfast treat especially the ‘marmite melt!’, the local Gorran fish and chip shop a short stroll away & the Crown at St Ewe for supper! Can’t wait to return to Mariners Rest and the fabulous Cornish coast - missing you already!

So peaceful lovely cottage everything you would need.

Location good with short walk to the beach and shop/pub/fish and chip shop. Would definitely recommend to others.

Superb, already booked again.

We had a lovely Easter weekend stay at the property.

It was modern, spotless, and well-equipped, and it even included fresh free-range eggs! The owner was very helpful and quick to answer all of our questions. Gorran Haven was a perfect, quiet base. It is a delightful, unspoilt Cornish village, a short walk to the harbour and southwest coast path. Taking a circular walk on the coast path to Volt Beach and Dodman Point is well worth the effort. We enjoyed our stay and will be back.

We loved our stay at Mariners rest.

A lovely comfy and cozy place in Gorran Haven. Should be Gorran Heaven. Georgia has made the place so welcoming. It’s peaceful and stunning surroundings too. I will be returning.

May I say, both my wife and I were quite thrilled with the welcome and accommodation from Georgia.

We arrived following the storm which devastated part of Devon and Cornwall. The accommodation was immaculate, spotlessly clean and very well appointed with everything one required. There was a power outage on one evening, but Georgia arrived with candles and torches, she looked after us very well, This was a very cosy place to spend a week in such awful weather, and I recommend anyone to it. Michael and Susan Allen.
