“We loved our stay at Wheal Honey.”

It was spotlessly clean when we arrived and we appreciated the milk, tea and coffee left ready for us. It is a beautifully quiet spot with a lovely spacious view, just the kind of place we like best. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds comfortable and the decor attractive. It was an ideal base for exploring the area around that part of north Cornwall. We can recommend it!

“Very accommodating as we didn’t realise we had an upstairs bedroom.”

No problem as Wheal Honey was vacant we had the opportunity to swap which we did. Our second time coming to this location and loved it once again plus we have family nearby so they came over early evening, obviously we asked first. Would highly recommend lovely views and very quiet. Lappa railway is 5 minutes drive away so we had an afternoon there as they had a gala day - good fun.

“We have just had a great week in Cornwall even if the weather could have been kinder !”

Wheal Honey was as described. It was clean, comfortable and with super views. My only issues are personal. I would prefer a shower cubicle rather than shower over bath and firmer mattresses on the twin beds. The hosts were excellent and informative. The sole drawback was the road into the village which was narrow with potholes , but then it was Cornwall.

“This is a lovely converted barn, and we had a lovely stay there.”

There was plenty of space for two couples, with great grounds out back for sunny days. The kitchen works well, and the living room is very comfortable to relax in at the end of the day. Good parking too. We will very happily come back to any of the properties on this location.

Wheal honey had everything we could have asked for and more with that ‘wow’ factor from the moment we opened the door. Stunning property in a truly beautiful location. The little touches on arrival after a long journey being able to pop the kettle on and have gorgeous local fresh milk, really a treat. The electric car charging on site was simple and easy to use too. An amazing family holiday was had by all and we’ll definitely be back. A truly fine example of how holiday cottages should be!

“We had a fabulous stay at Wheal Honey during May Half Term for a week.”

We stayed with our two young children and the owners couldn’t have been more helpful! They popped a cot, stair gate and bed bumper in for our children and the washing machine/tumble dryer was a godsend! Great location for lots of different beaches, I don’t think we travelled more than 20 minutes from the house every day but didn’t go to the same beach twice. Plenty of space in the open garden at the back for the children to run around and gorgeous views. We would definitely recommend and look forward to coming back again soon! Thank you for having us!

Howard, the owner was and is very helpful, even when the dishwasher broke, it was replaced in less than 24 hours with a brand new one. Would definitely recommend these cottages.

The cottage is spacious and had everything we needed. The location is great, our view was the farm animals, birds in a large shared garden. Our hosts were so friendly and accommodating. There is an Asda, Morrisons, Lidl's and McDonald's 10 minute drive. Fristal beach is 6 miles down the road. This is a fantastic family cottage stay.

Upon arrival the property was clean and tidy, with tea, coffee and milk provided this was very much appreciated especially after along journey. The cottage is just like a home from home with a washer, dryer and dishwasher included. The property is just a short drive from Newquay. I really couldn't fault the property and will hopefully revisit in the future.

“Our second stay and just as delightful.”

Helpful owners (came to the rescue with a screwdriver for our own bbq). The reclining sofa is actually fantastic and comfortable and we bring a freestanding camping washing airer with us for the wetsuits (re:previous review). There is no price for the view out of the lounge and back bedroom window and we love the cottage so much we’ll be back. Great base for all parts of Cornwall.

“Home from a fantastic weeks stay at Wheal Honey.”

We picked this for its location and it didn’t disappoint. Nestled in the countryside with beautiful views, we found it the perfect base for all the attractions we visited in Cornwall. Everything you needed was included in the accommodation from fluffy towels to tea and coffee. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend to others and will return here ourselves in the future.

“Lovely property, great rural location but perfect for exploring the area, no where was more than an hour away so that was great for us.”

Lovely size for a family and had everything you needed. Cottage was clean on the whole, I think it just needs a more thorough clean as a few areas such as the storage in the bathroom and under the beds were very dusty and a jug in the kitchen cupboard was dirty. Items such as pegs or a washing line outside and a basket to carry the washing would be beneficial. Furniture could possibly do with an update as the sofa wasn't overly comfortable. Milk was in the fridge for when we arrived, but a welcome hamper with essential items for breakfast would be lovely (even if at an extra charge). On the whole a lovely cottage, just a few small amendments to be made.

“This is a great property has many good features and is cosy, clean and comfortable.”

A dishwasher, washing machine and dryer were all helpful additions and the underfloor heating a welcome treat! We gave it four stars for a few easily rectifyable issues. The dining table is too small for four adult sized people. Seating area is big enough and but the table is not, only just able to fit four placemats on it and no room for extra dishes. The property needs an outside light to help to find the door key hole and avoid slips and trips on the cobbles in the dark as the ground changes in levels. Other than these issues I would highly recommend this cottage and thank the owners for a lovely stay.

The warm, clean cottage was as fully equipped as any we have stayed in previously. There are superb views across the valley from the private patio which would make a lovely place for breakfast on a warmer/drier day (we had the 'pleasure' of sharing the weekend with storm Dennis). The friendly owners were helpful but unobtrusive. An ideal location for exploring this part of Cornwall or a quiet escape.

The cottage just about had everything you could need. Perhaps, it could do with an outside area for cleaning wetsuits and some hooks to hang them, also missed a dustpan and brush and also couldn’t find a pizza cutter - these are just very tiny things as I couldn’t fault our stay. It’s very peaceful and the view in the garden is spectacular. Would love to come back!

The kitchen was also well equipped although some more utensils and pots and pans would not go amiss. Nice welcome by owner, gave local information; there was a bottle of white wine and a pint of milk in the fridge. OS map of local area as well as maps for coastal walks were present as well as loads of fliers for sightseeing. The location of the cottage was great in quiet country side yet easy access to all of Cornwall, just off the A30. Overall good value for money.

Fully equipped kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, and some Sky channels. Very clean and a high finish throughout. French doors out onto a patio area overlooking fields which is a lovely area to soak up the sun or have dinner on the picnic bench. Lovely and quiet and a great base for exploring Cornwall by car. Only 10 minutes from the beaches in Newquay and we went to Lands End, Polperro, St Ives etc. etc.

“The accommodation is fabulous.”

The property is located down a small country lane but because of this it is tranquil. The views are spectacular, out across rolling fields complete with sheep, cows, pheasants and all manor of birds, we think we even heard an owl one day. It has outdoor seating with a BBQ and a large shared sloping lawn. Inside the accommodation is perfect. The bathroom is large and the bedrooms are airy with very comfortable beds. The kitchen area is well equipped (although we didn't do much cooking) complete with dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. The owners were very welcoming and full of information on the local area. The property is perfectly positioned for travelling around the area. We had a brilliant holiday and would definitely recommend it and hope to return ourselves.

Set in an idyllic location within a complex of barn conversations and lovingly restored to the highest specification by its very friendly and helpful owner. We could not have wished for a more cosy comfortable home for our holiday. Everything about the 'cottage' was perfect, which during a spell of awful weather was very much appreciated! I cannot fault this beautiful cottage, or the concern for our comfort. I would happily recommend this location to anyone. I feel that although it is rated 4 Star, it should really be 5, so glad we found it. Can't wait to return.

The view of countryside, the early morning sunrise and sunset in the evening is simply super. The décor and setting of the cottage is warm and everything you may need is made available and of quality. The warm welcome by the owners and the way they looked after our family was excellent. We enjoyed our stay with two kids and they too were very excited. The place is in close reach to the beaches as well as other entertainment in the area. Definitely a place to stay if you love countryside and the beaches and want to get away from the usual typical busy urban lifestyle.
