“On first inspection the house appeared spick and span.”

However there were some small cleaning issues which I have mentioned to the owner. I also feel it should be a no pet accomodation. We have holidayed with our dog two or three times a year for nine years. The owners make it clear a family member is allergic to pet hair. With the best will in the world, fur travels and is impossible to avoid unless you say no pets. We felt very uncomfortable with this for the entire week and subsequently spent an awful lot of time cleaning before we left. The house is very close to the beach which we liked, however the views from the property are not great. A car park/bar from the front and a drab garden at the back. If you aren't bothered great. We do appreciate a nice view. Everything you need is there regarding kitchen equipment, including a dishwasher and washing machine. The bathroom and kitchen are newish and modern as is the furniture throughout the property. We would not return based on the fact the owners made a big deal about leaving the property clean and tidy with no trace of a pet being there yet it wasn't as clean as I would have liked it to be when we arrived.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a detailed review. We're pleased that you enjoyed the property's proximity to the beach and found the kitchen, bathroom and furnishings well equipped and modern. We are sorry that some aspects of the cottage did not fully meet your expectations. As discussed in our email correspondence following your departure, the points you raised were addressed. This included replacing the lounge scatter cushions, which you felt contained too many feathers, as part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining the cottage to a high standard and responding positively to guest feedback. Regarding dogs, we welcome canine guests and have many returning visitors who stay with their pets regularly. Our only request is that guests follow the standard booking-agent guidance of keeping dogs off sofas and out of bedrooms. We mention that this is particularly important to our family because our son has allergies, but we certainly do not expect guests to spend their holiday cleaning or to remove every possible trace of their pet before departure. We appreciate your feedback regarding the information we provide before arrival and will take the opportunity to review the wording to ensure guests understand that our aim is simply to protect the property and make changeovers easier, rather than place unnecessary demands on them. We also provide a simple departure checklist, which includes putting rubbish out and stripping beds, to assist our housekeeping team. These are standard requests designed to help our changeover team prepare the cottage efficiently. We always welcome constructive feedback and continually invest in maintaining and improving the property. We thank you for your comments and wish you all the best with your future travels.
