The property

There are dog-friendly holidays… and then there is Marhayes .

Set within the peaceful surroundings of Helsbury Park, just outside Camelford in North Cornwall, Marhayes is a beautifully converted 200-year-old stone barn where comfort, character and genuine dog-friendly living come together.

Sleeping six guests across three generous en-suite bedrooms, this luxurious countryside retreat is perfect for families, friends and four-legged companions looking to enjoy Cornwall without compromise.

From the moment you arrive, Marhayes feels less like a holiday cottage and more like a home you instantly wish belonged to you.

Inside, traditional slate, granite and exposed beams sit comfortably alongside modern comforts. The spacious open-plan kitchen and dining area creates a natural gathering space, while the welcoming sitting room with wood burner offers the perfect place to unwind after days spent exploring coast and countryside.

The well-equipped kitchen includes a range cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer, making longer stays and family meals wonderfully easy.

Upstairs, three beautifully appointed bedrooms provide plenty of space to relax. Two feature romantic king-size four-poster beds, while the third offers flexible zip-and-link beds that can be arranged as a twin or king-size upon request.Every bedroom enjoys its own stylish en-suite shower room, while an additional downstairs bathroom adds convenience for larger groups.

But Marhayes offers far more than beautiful interiors.

Step outside and discover what makes Helsbury Park so special.

Set within almost 100 acres of private countryside, guests are free to wander woodland paths, riverside walks, pasture and gardens that feel a world away from everyday life.Spectacular views stretch across the Camel Valley towards Bodmin Moor, while peaceful corners, hidden benches and wildlife make exploring the grounds part of the holiday itself.

And for dogs?

This is paradise.

Marhayes welcomes up to five well-behaved dogs at no extra charge and is designed for guests who genuinely holiday with their dogs rather than simply bringing them along.A secure enclosed area provides peace of mind, while endless walks begin right outside the door.

The shared heated indoor swimming pool, sauna and gym add another layer of luxury, meaning there is always something to enjoy whatever the season or weather.

While wonderfully peaceful, Marhayes is perfectly placed for exploring North Cornwall.

Tintagel, Boscastle, Bodmin Moor and some of Cornwall’s finest dog-friendly beaches are all within easy reach, allowing guests to enjoy dramatic coastlines and bustling villages before returning to the calm and comfort of Helsbury Park.

Built at right angles to neighbouring Westhayes (959871), Marhayes enjoys shared front lawns with its own private outdoor seating and barbecue area, making it equally suited to individual family holidays or larger gatherings booking both cottages together.

Many guests arrive expecting a wonderful base for exploring Cornwall.

What often surprises them is how difficult they find it to leave.
