The Hayloft And The Mill

Loswithiel 1.4 miles. Nestled on the outskirts of the bustling town of Lostwithiel, in the Cornish countryside, are these superb, environmentally-conscious barn conversions. Resting close to the owner's farmhouse and 20 solar panels, you are well-placed for touring some of Cornwall's finest sites, including its expansive coastline. Though The Hayloft is a first-floor apartment, it has no ground floor, so you won't be disrupted by noisy neighbours and can simply enjoy this peaceful and tranquil setting. Both these properties offer spacious sitting rooms where you can look forward to relaxing and unwinding into the evening, catching up with your favourite shows, whilst the warming woodburning stove provides that extra bit of warmth during those chillier winter months. They both also offer environmentally-friendly products bought in bulk to avoid excess packaging. Discover well-equipped fitted kitchens with plenty of worktop space to prepare your meals, whilst the dining areas provide space for gatherings. Each property offers a king-size double bedroom with quality contemporary furniture for storage purposes and delightful views across the fields to wake up to each morning. Pets are allowed at The Mill due to the enclosed garden, but the owners have asked guests of The Hayloft not to bring a pet with them. Discover plenty of fields surrounding the property, ideal for dog owners to go exploring with their furry companions, leading you towards the centre of Lostwithiel, which was the medieval stannary capital of Cornwall, for its selection of traditional pubs and restaurants for that fine dining experience, as well as a choice of shops and supermarkets for picking up those last-minute essentials or enjoying a shopping spree. Travel towards the 13th century Restormel Castle, set on a romantic hilltop with far-reaching views and areas for enjoying a picnic. Discover the nearby Lost Gardens of Heligan where you can tour the breath-taking gardens and estate, also nearby is the National Trust property of Lanhydrock, dating back to the 19th century with a historic interior and surrounded by a scenic parkland. You are in reach of the beautiful and expansive coastline for accessing a number of sandy beaches for those days' sunbathing on the golden sands, swimming in the clear waters or taking the opportunity to get involved with Cornwall's favourite pastime of surfing! Or avoid traffic and take a leisurley train ride from Lostwithiel to iconic Cornish towns like Penzance, Truro and St Ives. A truly delightful base for exploring all this stunning area of Cornwall has to offer.

About the location

LOSTWITHIEL

Bodmin 5.5 miles; Fowey 7 miles.

A delightfully peaceful country town, nestling in the Fowey river valley amid the woods and fields that characterise the area. Renowned as a centre for the antiques trade, there are several shops and dealers in the town, as well as a fine collection of country pubs, restaurants and a thriving farmer’s market. Lanhydrock House (NT) and gardens is just 3 miles away, while the fabulous Boconnoc House, Eden Project, shipwreck museum and tall ships harbour at Charlestown, and the picturesque fishing villages of Mevagissey, Fowey and Padstow, with the famous Rick Stein restaurants, are all within easy driving distance. The tumbling Atlantic surf, long sandy beaches and dramatic coastline of the north coast, including at the renowned Newquay, make for great days out and there is also chance to enjoy river canoeing, biking, hiking and leisurely walks in this lovely area. The friendly locals also have ongoing activities, such as the raft race, the famous tug of war, Carnival week and seagull outboard motor races. The river Fowey runs from the town on its 8 mile journey through the fields and wooded valleys to the gentler southern coast, a natural paradise for those who love the sea. Centrally placed, with much to do and see in the immediate area, Lostwithiel is the perfect choice for those seeking a break away from the hectic pace of the tourist resorts.
