Great base to stay for exploring the north and south coast and in between!

The place is spotlessly clean and well equipped. Owners really responsive and helpful. For example there was an issue with the fridge and we didn’t really expect it to be sorted and the fridge was replaced the same day we raised an issue. Amazing given it’s in the countryside. The holiday info is great with some good walks recommended. Would love to return.

The Smithy is a wonderful cottage, finished to a lovely standard.

It had everything we needed and a very safe enclosed garden for our dogs. The bed was a bit soft for me but that's just personal preference and it was great to have hot water and heating whenever needed. I would certainly recommend The Smithy and look forward to visiting again.

This is our first visit to the Smithy and we had a brilliant time.

The facilities and level of comfort was wonderful. As it states in plenty of write-ups the walk onto Bodmin Moor is very near and the day's we explored we had beautiful weather. The drives to dog friendly beaches wasn't too bad either and well worth it.

We had a wonderful stay at The Smithy.

The weather was glorious and we were able to travel easily to all parts of Cornwall from this central base. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable so we were able to relax after a busy day. The cottage and the secure garden were dog friendly and it was lovely to sit in the conservatory watching the birds with our morning coffee. The village pub and shop were a short walk/ drive away and staff were very friendly. A lovely stay

We have stayed here before and will come back again as it has everything you need and it’s clean when you arrive.

This was our second visit to this gem of a cottage.

There is everything you need for a very comfortable stay. The location is great with the moor very close by. We had a fabulous week, lots of walking with our dog. We visited Newquay, Bude, Padstow and Fowey as well as Cardinham Woods. Highly recommended.

A fantastic stay at The Smithy.

Hidden down a single lane track, a quiet, comfortable stunning cottage. Great location to reach the A30 and A39 so you can travel the whole of Cornell with ease. The cottage itself was very comfortable, has everything you need for a great holiday. Looking forward to booking next year.

This accommodation is absolutely perfect for couples looking for a quiet and peaceful base from which to explore the beautiful surrounding area.

It is furnished to a high standard with everything one might possibly need. The conservatory is a great addition and being dog friendly is a bonus. There were absolutely no negatives with this property and we will be definitely going back again.

We had a lovely two weeks in The Smithy which was cosy, comfortable and very well equipped.

A lovely, loved cottage containing every comfort you need for a home from home feel.

Thoughtful welcome gifts & the best nights sleep we've ever had away from home. Sorry not to have met Caroline but given it was the stormiest of weeks, we weren't surprised. We really hope to return.

Great little village , pub and shop both worth a visit .

The Smithy is in a lovely location with Bodmin Moor on the doorstep, so no need to get the car out, if you don't want too.

The cottage was very comfortable, clean and warm with a log burner, if you want to use the fire, alternatively the central heating was more than adequate for the inclement weather we had on a couple of days, in the midst of winter. With having two active and inquisitive dogs, it was a relief to have a robust ,fenced in garden that was completely safe. There are some stunning views and sunsets from the conservatory. The amenities in the property were excellent, possibly one of the best holiday lettings we have stayed at. Blisland Village is about a mile away with a community shop and post office that sells good produce plus has a cafe. The church is a must to see and finally the Blisland Inn, does really good food and very friendly. Lastly, the owners of the Smithy live adjacent to the property and are very helpful and friendly. If you want peace, tranquility and a fab holiday stay, would highly recommend the Smithy

Excellent property, extremely comfortable and well appointed.

Ideal for dog owners with numerous walks on the doorstep. Short walk to village, with well equipped shop and cafe and a great pub which does excellent food. A perfect stay.

This was a lovely cottage and had everything one needed for a relaxing break.

We enjoyed sitting in the conservatory in the evenings looking out at the night sky. The small lane leading to the property was very very narrow and a couple of times we had to reverse all the way back to pass vehicles so be aware. Pub is about a 15 min walk down the lane but take a torch as it’s totally dark. Garden is totally enclosed so ideal for our dog. Owners were nice and friendly. Would recommend this cottage.

We found The Smithy offered a first rate standard of accommodation and comfort throughout.

The added touch of welcome of a cream tea and flowers was an unexpected bonus and such a thoughtful thing to do. We would not hesitate to recommend and plan to return next year if at all possible.

This was are second visit to this cottage this year as we were desperate to take advantage of the log fire and it happened to be the hottest week!

it was hot but it got lit! Lovely place central to everywhere! A great place to relax and unwind we will be booking for next year without doubt love it.

The cottage was spacious for two people.

Since the external fence was erected, the parking space has been reduced and even with a small car it had to be manoeuvred into position. The lanes to access the cottage and other nearby areas are very narrow, in many places only wide enough for a single car, so be prepared for this! Bathroom was clean but the rest of the cottage and garden needs more attention. The facilities available were good.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Smithy.

The home has everything you need. There is an asda and morrisons 10 minutes away by car. So hidden away it's unreal. Your literally on Bodmin moor. Great for dog walkers. I must say please go to St Breward for a bar meal at the Old Inn you will not be dissatisfied. The best pub food you will get. Turn right out the drive and immediately right again and that will take you onto the moor itself. Enjoy all.

Caroline called around on the Saturday to check everything was OK with us.

There was everything in the cottage that we needed for our holiday. It was very clean and tidy and well kept. When we arrived on the Friday, there was milk, scones, jam and cream which was thoroughly enjoyed. It is nice to have fresh flowers in the cottage as well. The Smithy was ideal for us with bringing our golden retriever. It had a small enclosed garden and a conservatory. It was lovely having the dining table in the conservatory. We felt we were in the garden watching the butterflies on the buddhlia and swallows flying around and perching on the cables. There was a nice walk up the lane and onto the Moor by the Jubilee Stone. There were lovely views of the surrounding countryside from the Moor. We had a lovely holiday and visited The Eden Project and Wheal Coates at St. Agnes. Stunning scenery. Thank you Caroline for our lovely stay.

Beautiful conservatory overlooking a pretty garden. Situated in a pretty village on the edge of Bodmin Moor.

Such a lovely cottage and wonderful village a great base point to venture out both sides of Cornwall, and then to come back a peaceful and beautiful area!

When we first walked in it was like stepping into the picture gallery. Caroline and John are a lovely couple and left us a lovely welcome pack. Lots to do and explore with different beaches less than half an hour’s drive, which our 2 dogs thoroughly enjoyed. Very spacious and cosy and will most definitely be booking again. We arrived on 22/12/22 and stayed for 7 nights and had the best Christmas ever From Michelle and Lee in Northampton xx

Perfect little bolt hole to base our Bodmin Moor walking weekend.

Clean, cosy, well equiped and plenty of logs for the wood burner. We will book this place again if we return to Blisland for another holiday.

We've just returned from a lovely stay at the Smithy.

The cottage is very well equipped, comfortable and clean. Caroline was welcoming and there if we needed anything throughout the stay. Great location for exploring lots of Cornwall as not too far to drive to everything. The lane into the cottage is very tight but we didn't have a problem during our stay and there were plenty of passing points. Thank you very much.

I'm tempted to down grade it so nobody else will stay as it's a little gem!

My wife and i plus our dog loved every minute and didn't want to leave! Re booking definitely!

Very enjoyable stay at The Smithy such a beautiful property although the narrow country lanes around Pendrift were the only drawback!

Well located holiday accommodation for access to beautiful coast and country.

Excellent village pub in Blisland serving really good food and good selection of beers (an easy walk from cottage). First impressions of The Bothy looked favourable but we found the quality of the furnishings, bedding etc were certainly not up to the standard of many cottages we've hired in the past. Little things like sharp kitchen knives and extra mugs would have helped! We also found it slightly unusual not to be welcomed by the owners next door at any point during our week or on our departure. Whilst most people, understandably, would like to be left to their own devices, I do feel it's important for owners to acknowledge your presence in their property at some point during the stay.

Great cottage, very well equipped literally had everything you require. Location ideal too, got to Lands End about 1.5hrs. Port Isaac half an hour. Great for our two dogs, garden totally enclosed. Thank you

Lovely spacious and comfortable cottage on a great location for exploring both Bodmin Moor and the coastal locations of North Cornwall.

The local pub at Blisland is a 10 minute brisk walkaway, very welcoming, as is the local shop/cafe, The pub serves good wholesome homecooked food at very reasonable prices.

Excellent property with facilities and surroundings to match.

This a superb cottage for a couple and we had a wonderful stay.

The accommodation is very spacious and so well situated for exploring the Moor and coast. Highly recommended.

Was a really lovely cottage. It was nice and spacious and the little garden was lovely. Was good to have parking and it was in a nice and quiet area.

Loved this place.

The location is great, you are close to everywhere! The local pub was very welcoming, and did amazing food. Couldn’t ask for anything more from the accommodation itself, it was so cosy and felt homely. Clean and well equipped, will 100% be back… if you’ll have us!

Good base for walking on Bodmin

The only possible drawback to this property is the access.

Its a very narrow "Cornish" lane which means somebody has to reverse if you meet other vehicles but this does not detract from the comfort etc of the cottage.

You failed to inform us of the difficulty of reaching a shop and the pub.

In your listings you stated that the pub was 10 minutes walk away. I have poor mobility and my husband, who is in good health and walks miles every day, could not do it in 10 mins. The road was more like a track with no passing places on one stretch. It would be insane to walk at night as there are no street lights and no pavement to avoid any traffic. The cottage was beautiful but the holiday was ruined by the difficulty in getting to a shop or to the pub. I think you should be honest about these difficulties when advertising properties.

We found The Smithy to be very clean and tidy and was well equipped.

The conservatory made it very spacious and it was lovely to have meals out there and also relax in the evening. This is a cottage that we are sure to re-visit in the future.

The owners had thought of everything we could need. We didn’t take pets, but you would never have known that pets could stay it was spotlessly clean. The owners were friendly and available if we needed anything. The area is lovely although be prepared for the narrow country lanes. We really enjoyed staying at The Smithy and would highly recommend it.

Ideal property for dog owners, the property owners had thought of everything to aid taking your pet on holiday.

Wonderful to be able to walk straight from the front door following a footpath up to the open moor.

fantastic experience of booking on line, very easy to use and kept up to date before our departure and throughout the holiday and on our return.

cottage was fantastic, everything that you could possibly need. the locations was remote, on the edge of the village but not too remote that you could get out and about. the hosts john and caroline were fantastic too, from the welcoming biscuits and mince pies and milk in the fridge to their kindness and courtesy. the log burner was amazing!!! we would thoroughly recommend the smithy for your holidays

Spent 2 of my 3 weeks in lockdown which was excellent.

Could still visit the beach etc to walk with my dog and the views from the front window better than home. Have already booked my next visit.Some new fencing and a gate made the garden totally secure which was a bonus.

Last visit to Smithy 2 years ago and were equally impressed .

The sunny weather and sitting out in the garden every thing was great. Just one thing using sat nab at the last junction before the house it says go left and then right but it is actually straight on down a no through road we did a circular tour before finding it the sign post also is obscured when driving if people could be warned of this it could be helpful.

Lovely cottage was very clean and spacious, great conservatory for a relaxing meal.

Cottage was situated perfectly for exploring Cornwall's stunning coastline and close to the Camel Trail great Cycling all the way to Padstow. Cottage had everything we needed so we had a great holiday.

Cottage was spotlessly clean. Extremely well appointed - everything you could possibly need was there (and more). Large bedroom, very comfy bed and plenty of storage space. Bathroom also large and a good powerful shower. Kitchen area was excellent with large fridge freezer and including a dishwasher and washing machine. Living area very cosy - wish it had been a bit cooler so we could have used the log burner - all logs/kindling/firelighters were provided. Beautiful location and really quiet which made for peaceful evenings. Overall, a very chilled and relaxing week, and would definitely recommend.

It was quite a secluded location, but accessible quickly to the rest of Cornwall.

The cottage was extremely well equipped beyond anything I had experienced before. A short walk to the village that had a well stocked Store/Post Office and an excellent pub on the village green. My dog was allowed in both store and pub which allowed me to go out evenings and meet very friendly 'locals'. Bodmin Moor was accessible via a lane next to the cottage for some good walks. It is a cottage I will certainly return to.

I asked before booking if the garden was FULLY enclosed. By that I meant dog proof. A bit disappointed as it was ok for a large dog. Not my inquisitive small cockapoo.the two slated gates that had large gaps each side. She would have got through Otherwise loved the cottage.

A lovely cosy cottage set in a beautiful location .

The cottage was extremely clean and had everything we needed and more. The perfect base to explore North Cornwalls seaside towns of Padstow, Rock, Port Issac and Boscastle.

Although the cottage was reached via some very narrow lanes after leaving the main road it was well worth it.

The cottage was perfect in every way, very clean, well equipped and had a lovely homely feel. The garden with its views was a lovely place to take in the tranquility of the area. It is probably the best cottage we have stayed in in all of our 20+ years of staying in holiday cottages. We would not hesitate to recommend to others.

The cottage was perfect.

Very clean on arrival with a lovely touch of some wine and cookies as a welcome. The location was ideal for us with the added bonus of the moor being less than a 5 mins walk away and the local pub (which is highly recommended) a comfortable 10 min walk down the lane. The garden area is beautiful and is perfect for an evening drink watching the sun go down. If the front gate is closed it also means the whole garden and drive area is dog friendly. Our hosts were very welcoming and were always on hand if needed which we never did as everything was excellent. We will be returning for sure.

The owners of the cottage left us some provisions - everything was very welcoming and so spacious for a one-bedroomed cottage.

We have rented through Sykes before and have been very pleased with all accommodation but this cottage was lovely especially with the added space of a conservatory.

Fantastically situated cottage on the edge of Bodmin Moor.

Well equipped and comfortable. We had a lovely break and our dog enjoyed the secure outside space. Fortunately blessed with beautiful weather over Easter which added to the holiday. The conservatory is an added bonus and perfect for relaxing in.

It was very peaceful and the views were lovely, especially the sunsets. You could walk on to the moors from the cottage, it was a lovely walk for our dogs. We love finding different beaches to walk on and this time of year there are no restrictions. Holywell and Padstow beaches are our favourite. WHEN I FIRST REVIEWED THE PROPERTY AFTER MY CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR STAY, I SAID I WOULD BE BACK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. IN FACT IT WAS JUST THREE WEEKS TO THE DAY! IN THAT TIME THE OWNERS JOHN & CAROLINE HAD INSTALLED A VERY COMFY NEW SETTEE & MATCHING CHAIRS IN THE CONSERVATORY MAKING FOR AN EVEN MORE PLEASANT EXPERIENCE. I CANNOT PRAISE THIS COTTAGE TOO HIGHLY. NEEDLESS TO SAY, BACK AGAIN SOON!

..finish...all quality facilities and utensils. It was warm and very comfortable...just like being home...wonderfully relaxing. John and Caroline made us most welcome and were nearby ..just in case. Nice touch of milk and bits...plus a lovely bottle to enjoy. Highly recommended....we would certainly return and could not fault our visit in anyway. The cottage is ideally placed for reaching an excellent range of places to visit. The lanes of Cornwall can be a little daunting...but well worth the effort. Very generous accommodation for two people including outer conservatory and patio garden. Owners delightful and helpful. Perfect for a country holiday.
