“We had a fantastic week at the Sidings.”

The place is very comfortable and very cosy. It's furnished to a high standard and it's very well equipped with everything could ever need on holiday. The only thing was the train at 5 o'clock a few mornings wasn't the best it was quite noisy (and we do live by a railway line at home so we are used to train noise) that aside it was the only slight negative and definitely wouldn't stop us staying again .....well already looking for next year.

Thank you for your feedback and I am glad to hear you had a lovely stay at our apartment! We often hear people are very happy with it being so well equipped and comfortable – we strive to make sure no-one wants for anything when staying at Sidings. Sadly the early morning train does occasionally continue to operate near the apartment, and the residents association along with Lostwithiel Town Council and the developer have been and are making attempts to have this moved to the “up” siding which is much further away and can’t be heard from the residences. However it is a complicated system involving Network rail, DB and GWR. We hope to have a resolution soon as it is a distraction, particularly in bedrooms two and three and failing this we are investigating air conditioning to keep the rooms cool during the summer allowing windows to be closed at night. In the meantime we look forward to seeing you again next year! Owner relations

Lostwithiel was the county town and main stannary town of Cornwall, established by the Normans for the export of tin.

The river then was wide and deep and sea-going vessels were tied up along the quay ready for their trips to the countries around the Mediterranean Sea.

“The Port of Fowi” was the second largest on the South Coast of England.

Today Lostwithiel is a peaceful, friendly and charming town with fine pubs, restaurants, antique shops, boutiques, galleries and food outlets a plenty to suit every taste.

About the location

LOSTWITHIEL

Bodmin 5.5 miles; Fowey 7 miles.

A delightfully peaceful country town, nestling in the Fowey river valley amid the woods and fields that characterise the area. Renowned as a centre for the antiques trade, there are several shops and dealers in the town, as well as a fine collection of country pubs, restaurants and a thriving farmer’s market. Lanhydrock House (NT) and gardens is just 3 miles away, while the fabulous Boconnoc House, Eden Project, shipwreck museum and tall ships harbour at Charlestown, and the picturesque fishing villages of Mevagissey, Fowey and Padstow, with the famous Rick Stein restaurants, are all within easy driving distance. The tumbling Atlantic surf, long sandy beaches and dramatic coastline of the north coast, including at the renowned Newquay, make for great days out and there is also chance to enjoy river canoeing, biking, hiking and leisurely walks in this lovely area. The friendly locals also have ongoing activities, such as the raft race, the famous tug of war, Carnival week and seagull outboard motor races. The river Fowey runs from the town on its 8 mile journey through the fields and wooded valleys to the gentler southern coast, a natural paradise for those who love the sea. Centrally placed, with much to do and see in the immediate area, Lostwithiel is the perfect choice for those seeking a break away from the hectic pace of the tourist resorts.
