“The Hayloft is wonderful, and the owners, Sarah and Richard, are really friendly and accommodating - while at the same time leaving guests to their own devices.”
The property itself is neatly laid out, comfortable, well maintained, and well equipped. It really is a home from home! Access is via a long private drive and parking is easy (being adjacent to the property). We loved the splendid isolation and being surrounded by the tranquil countryside - while being within a short drive of both the north and south coasts. This meant we were really spoiled for choice as far as things to do and places to visit are concerned. We had days out at Lanydrock, Looe, Fowey, Tintagel, St Ives (by train) and not forgetting Lostwithiel which is on the doorstep and is definitely worth exploring - as well as being good for daily provisions and eateries. I never give a place 10/10 as usually there is always room for improvement. However, I can't think of any reason to give the Hayloft anything but a 10! If there was ever a perfect model for a self-catering experience, then this is it. Thanks Sarah and Richard. Your passion and hard work have really paid off. Best wishes, Steve & Anne

LOSTWITHIEL
Bodmin 5.5 miles; Fowey 7 miles.
A delightfully peaceful country town, nestling in the Fowey river valley amid the woods and fields that characterise the area. Renowned as a centre for the antiques trade, there are several shops and dealers in the town, as well as a fine collection of country pubs, restaurants and a thriving farmer’s market. Lanhydrock House (NT) and gardens is just 3 miles away, while the fabulous Boconnoc House, Eden Project, shipwreck museum and tall ships harbour at Charlestown, and the picturesque fishing villages of Mevagissey, Fowey and Padstow, with the famous Rick Stein restaurants, are all within easy driving distance. The tumbling Atlantic surf, long sandy beaches and dramatic coastline of the north coast, including at the renowned Newquay, make for great days out and there is also chance to enjoy river canoeing, biking, hiking and leisurely walks in this lovely area. The friendly locals also have ongoing activities, such as the raft race, the famous tug of war, Carnival week and seagull outboard motor races. The river Fowey runs from the town on its 8 mile journey through the fields and wooded valleys to the gentler southern coast, a natural paradise for those who love the sea.
