Vanessa “This was our second visit to this property, it is very well equipped.”
People very pleasant and the welcome pack most appreciated. It's comfortable and quiet if that's what you like. You have to drive for pub and groceries. Near to Bodmin Moor and we had lovely walks there. Not far from the sea either. We enjoyed our stay.

Shirley Ann “Brock's Barn was delightful and we had a wonderful week, and luckily with wonderful weather for the time of the year.”
We were a little bit cold in bed as the duvet was quite light, but fortunately, we brought a fleece blanket with us, and we were soon comfy and cosy.. I also brought a hairdryer which was fortunate, as there wasn't one. It wasn't a problem at all but would suggest one in the bedroom would be a good idea. We had a really super stay in Brock's Barn - we would certainly stay there again and would certainly highly recommend it.. The location is wonderful and the hosts were smashing! Thank you ... we hope to see you again soon.. .

Judith “We had a lovely few days in this very comfortable holiday home.”
The bed was extremely comfortable and the kitchen well-equipped. The welcome pack of groceries was amazing - thank you so much Michelle and Pete, for all those goodies. The central location was ideal for us. Although on a quiet, narrow lane, it's only a few minutes from major roads, making it easy to drive to both the south and the north coast and to enjoy countryside walks inland. We also enjoyed the views from the property and watching the birds on the feeders, especially regular visits by a Great Spotted Woodpecker.

Brian “Lovely barn lovely friendly owners really beautiful views”
- Brian, September 2024 -
Susan “Had a great week at Brocks Barn, well equipped, good position for sight seeing and plenty of wildlife.”
Owners made us feel very welcome.

Andrew “Great place to stay and base ourselves to see the attractions in the area.”
Lanhydrock house just up the road with Restormel castle, Looe, Fowey and Bodmin moor nearby. Newquay and St Just in Roseland not too far either. Liked the quietness and seclusion. Barn well laid out. Got a great photo of a pair of Greater Spotted Woodpeckers there.
- Andrew, June 2024 -
Sarah “My husband, daughter and I enjoyed a lovely peaceful week in ‘Brocks Barn’.”
The property was comfortable, clean and in easy proximity to many tourist attractions! All in all we had a great holiday!

Vanessa “We had a wonderful time at Brocks Barn.”
Set in quiet location with fantastic views. The owner left us a much appreciated welcome pack. It is very comfortable and well equipped. It was great to watch the birds come onto the feeders, especially Woodpeckers. Location is in reach of many places. Only thing I would say so people know, it is on a narrow lane and not easy for walking. We would certainly book here again.
- Vanessa, May 2024 -
Alexander “A lovely barn, beautiful welcome hamper full of lovely Cornish produce, Michelle is a welcoming host.”
, amazing amount of birds to view on the well cared for bird-feeders that she replenishes just outside the barn, thank you for a lovely stay at your barn.
- Alexander, March 2024 -
David “Lovely welcome and outstanding welcome pack of goodies, many thanks Michelle.”
Perfect retreat, beautifully designed and very clean, comfortable and tidy. Could not fault. Excellent position for visiting Cornwall. Pity about the narrow roads, but that's Cornwall!
- David, March 2024 -
Julianne “Our hosts were welcoming and friendly.”
The accommodation was fantastic, with comfortable bed and very clean. The welcoming hamper was a very pleasant surprise. The barn is perfect for a touring base for Cornwall and West Devon. Be prepared for the challenging roads and lane ways, but, in our experience, the locals are very friendly and courteous, just be prepared to give way, and reverse we're necessary. I would highly recommend Brock's Barn for a relaxing holiday. Steve and Julie from Australia.
- Julianne, December 2023 -
Pamela “A lovely comfortable cottage, we will recommend”
- Pamela, November 2023 -
Bryan “Lovely accommodation, warm and comfortable, extremely helpful owners.”
Greatly appreciated the Welcome Pack, even though we did not use all of the items left for us. Good location being central Cornwall. Bodmin close by for ease of shopping. Access with wheelchair not really possible given the shale chipping and small paving slaps leading to the front door. We managed because my partner was able to 'walk', albeit with much support from me.
- Bryan, November 2023 -
Geoff “In 17 years living in Spain and returning several times a year to visit family and staying in caravans, lodges, annexes, cottages etc we have never stayed in such a clean, comfortable, warm, quiet well equipped accomodation.”
Everything was provided, a welcome basket with local produce, bread, eggs, cereal, milk, butter and biscuits. The kitchen had everything, dishwasher and tablets, washing machine, plenty of mugs and crockery and utensils, even an egg timer, candels, fuses and matches. Shower room had towels, shampoo, toothpaste even needle and thread. Everywhere was spotless and as new. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. Location was quiet and central in Cornwall making both coasts easy to reach in a reasonable time. I highly reccomend this cottage.
- Geoff, October 2023 -

- Clare, July 2023 -

Michelle, the owner, was on hand whenever needed, but without being intrusive. We had a great holiday & would certainly recommend Brocks Barn!
- Murray, November 2022 -
Judith “Had a beautiful stay at Brocks Barn and had a warm welcome from the owner.”
We appreciated the lovely welcome food pack. The views were lovely, even saw bluetits and robins on the bird feeder which was visible from the sofa. Warm, comfortable and very clean accommodation that had all the facilities that you need. Great base to drive to beautiful places, especially, Polperro, Charlestown, Mevigissy and Perranporth. Would recommend Brocks Barn and definitely would return.
- Judith, October 2022 -
Jackie “Brocks Barn is on a very quiet lane some distance from shops so a car is essential, parking for two cars is next to the barn.”
The location is excellent as it is not far from the many attractions that Cornwall has to offer. The owner, Miss Loughlin, is very friendly and helpful. A short power cut and Miss Loughlin was over to us very quickly with candles, matches and a torch and to check we were O.K. The barn is well equipped and very clean. Although it is next to the owners house it is very private and peaceful, a very good location for a holiday.
- Jackie, September 2022 -
Peter “I can completely recommend that accomodation.”
Miss Loughlin is a lovely person and she has helped us in a great way when we were in trouble.
- Peter, August 2022 -
Jeni “Well located for access to the whole of Cornwall.”
Surrounded by Mother Nature.....birds, animals, trees, agriculture etc. Have stayed at Brocks Barn several times.
- Jeni, July 2022 -
Paul “My sister and I had a very comfortable and leisurely holiday, visiting a few places (NOT Looe, parking paid by mobile app only, I don't do that !”
), listening to music and catching up with our reading lists. Listening to music with the view across the valley, very relaxing.
- Paul, June 2022 -
Mike “Lovely peaceful spot tucked away on a quiet lane.”
Large nature reserve close by. Nearest pub (The Crown in Lanlivery) is about a 40 minute walk. Advisable to book if you want to have dinner in Lostwithiel. Very hospitable hosts. Basket of essentials (bread, milk, eggs, etc.) provided on arrival. Everything was clean, tidy and in working order. Happy to recommend.
- Mike, June 2022 -
Nadine “Brocks Barn is not only the ideal place to stay, being fairly centrally located in Cornwall, but you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere (definitely an advantage in my opinion) even though you are minutes away from a main road.”
It is very comfortable and very well equipped even down to the brolly by the door should it be required! There is also the added extras i.e. the many birds at the bird feeder just outside, and the residents cats. Michelle is a wonderful host and we were very grateful for the goodies she left, thank you, and we would love to come and stay again.....
- Nadine, May 2022 -
Jean “An excellent, comfortable and warm cottage.”
We enjoyed our stay very much and would happily recommend it to any of our friends. It was a quiet peaceful spot , easy to find with the excellent directions given and an added bonus of entertainment from the squirrels and birds on the feeders. The owners were available and friendly but not intrusive. We would happily have given it 5 stars but for the poor shower, a power shower really is necessary, also a towel rail not working, cooker extractor not working, no hanging space in the bedroom and a lack of few kitchen items.
- Jean, May 2022 -
Richard “Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Brocks Barn, perfectly suited what we required.”
Ideally located to visit many Cornish attractions. Pleasant surprise to fine a basket of goodies and pleasant music on arrival.
- Richard, May 2022 -

- Rebecca, March 2022 -
Elizabeth “We had a really comfortable stay at Brock's Barn, Sweetshouse.”
The cottage was cosy and the beds especially comfortable after a day's walking. It was very welcoming upon entry to find the heating on, radio softly playing, vase of flowers on the bookshelf plus a basket of diary, cereal and bread waiting for us to start our stay. A homely touch to show the Host cares about offering the Barn for others to stay in.
- Elizabeth, March 2022 -
Jayne “We had a lovely holiday at Brocks Barn!”
A lovely, cosy and very clean holiday cottage, well placed for reaching both the West and East Coasts. A good welcome pack and milk on arrival. We very much enjoyed watching the birds visiting the bird feeder and were delighted to see the woodpecker one day!!
- Jayne, March 2022 -
Kim “The welcome beforehand and on arrival was great .”
The cottage was very clean. Everything you need there. The only thing I would change perhaps a power shower. The location is great to get to many places. The host was on hand if you needed and was very kind during the recent storm.I would definitely stay again and would recommend to any one in the area.
- Kim, February 2022 -
Tony “A lovely cottage, an ideal place for a relaxing break.”
the cottage was very clean & the hamper was a lovely thing to do. The location made it ideal for looking at the local wild life.
- Tony, January 2022 -
Pankaj “Home from Home We had a great time.”
The cottage had everything you could possibly need - spacious, light, 2 bedrooms (used single for storing luggage, etc), 2 sofas, large kitchen with appropriate equipment, detached from owner's property so a lot of privacy. It would have been nice to have a power shower but the basic electric shower was more than adequate.
- Pankaj, January 2022 -
M “Lovely cottage in a beautiful rural area, open curtains in morning and you see a variety of birds, as in woodpeckers etc, pheasants in field and deer as well.”
Best nights sleep for a long time, the kitchen has all you need, nice welcome pack and lovely bathroom, the owners were lovely people who were there if you needed them, cottage central to many places to visit, if you are looking for a quiet break with no traffic noise this would be ideal.

Colleen “We were a little disappointed to find there was no garden, there was a patio area but sadly it was in the shade after 11.”
30 am. The cottage was situated in a very narrow lane, luckily during the whole week we didn’t meet a vehicle coming the other way except on the day of arrival when we met the school bus and a tractor!
- Colleen, September 2020Thank you for your feedback. Sorry you were disappointed about the garden, the proeprty does not advertise a garden there is a patio area only. The property is situated in a rural hamlet where all the local roads the same. Hope this did not impact on your stay. Many thanks. Property Owner

About the location
LOSTWITHIEL
Bodmin 5.5 miles; Fowey 7 miles.
A delightfully peaceful country town, nestling in the Fowey river valley amid the woods and fields that characterise the area. Renowned as a centre for the antiques trade, there are several shops and dealers in the town, as well as a fine collection of country pubs, restaurants and a thriving farmer’s market. Lanhydrock House (NT) and gardens is just 3 miles away, while the fabulous Boconnoc House, Eden Project, shipwreck museum and tall ships harbour at Charlestown, and the picturesque fishing villages of Mevagissey, Fowey and Padstow, with the famous Rick Stein restaurants, are all within easy driving distance. The tumbling Atlantic surf, long sandy beaches and dramatic coastline of the north coast, including at the renowned Newquay, make for great days out and there is also chance to enjoy river canoeing, biking, hiking and leisurely walks in this lovely area. The friendly locals also have ongoing activities, such as the raft race, the famous tug of war, Carnival week and seagull outboard motor races. The river Fowey runs from the town on its 8 mile journey through the fields and wooded valleys to the gentler southern coast, a natural paradise for those who love the sea. Centrally placed, with much to do and see in the immediate area, Lostwithiel is the perfect choice for those seeking a break away from the hectic pace of the tourist resorts.
